The joy of seeing these kids enjoying things many had never experienced. Although many children did not have adequate coats, the gloves and hats included in their package came in quite handy. Walking Taco s were served and all of the kids enjoyed their S Mores, and pumpkins. Thanks to all who participated. 6 NOR SCOTTARIAN ROTARY CLUB OF NORTH SCOTT PO Box 52 Eldridge, IA Periodical Postage Paid at Eldridge, Iowa NorScottarian (USPS ) is published weekly except the weeks of July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the week between Christmas and New Year s, for $5 per year by the Rotary Club of North Scott, PO Box 52, Eldridge, IA Periodicals postage paid at Eldridge, IA POSTMASTER: Send address changes to NorScottarian, PO Box 52, Eldridge, IA LAST WEEK LAST WEEK October 14, 2016 Don Doxie: Iowa Baseball Greats Don Doxie, sports reporter for the Quad City Times, loves baseball and the history that goes along with it. He has reported on nearly every sport that is played. Gene Baker, a Davenport High School graduate, is the reason Don wrote his book about Iowans who excelled in baseball. Gene was a scout for the Pittsburg Pirates, when Don tried out for the team. Six out of sixteen Iowans in the book are members of the Hall of Fame. Sixty two attended on Friday. Present were Davenport Rotarians, Sherry Ristau and Aaron Christopher. Other guests were: Jeff Martens, Jon Cole and Griffin Holden. Jeremy Kaiser gave a recap of the Harvest Party, held at the Pride of the Wapsi. 30 North Scott Rotarians volunteered, 228 kids from 9 agencies attended. The afternoon turned out a little chilly, but everyone had fun picking a pumpkin and eating s mores. Patrick told about the Q.C. area meeting, where 2000 meals were packed with Kids against Hunger. The attendance overall was very poor; however North Scott was represented by 8 people. Pat also explained the importance to reserve your seat for the auction. It is already near a sell out! John Maxwell sold this week s goodies for a total of $510. We were glad to see Eric Langan back with us, just in time for the auction. Bill Tubbs was the sergeant with a Cubs baseball trivia. He collected $102 in fines. The 4 Way Test Of the things we THINK SAY or DO 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
