The cemetery is on this road abt. ¼ mile. There are at least 21 unmarked graves. Recorded by Maurine E. Funeral services for Mrs. Tempest Burgess, 86, of Rickman, were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bro. Mark Loftis officiating. Burial was in Barnes Cemetery. Mrs. Burgess died Thursday, Sept. 22 at Masters Health Care Center. She was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ faith. Born August 24, 1919, in Livingston, she was the daughter of the late Cleney and Lou (Barnes) Holloway. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Burgess; and a brother, Cecil Holloway. Survivors include a son, Jim Burgess of Cookeville; 5 daughters and 4 sons-in-law, Karoline and Larry Walker and Gayle and Jerry Hastings, all of Rickman, Sunshine and Dewey Dunn of Baxter, Bubbie Allen of Cookeville, and Vickie and Terry Jolley of Sparta; a sister, Sybol Ballohoefer of Marion, IN; 12 grandchildren; and 14 greatgrandchildren. Pallbearers were Dewey Dunn, Jerry Hastings, Russell Hastings, Terry Jolley, Jim Burgess, Steven Walker, and Larry Walker.

Mr. Conner died on Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born on Feb. 10, 1919, in Monroe to the late Oscar and Fannie Milton Conner. Mr. Conner was a factory worker with Keene Corp. He served in the Army during World War II. His family includes two sons, Joe Conner of Rickman and Casey Conner of Cookeville; five daughters, Joey Mansell of Rickman, Jannie Lynn of Algood, Janice Watson of Lake Wales, Fla., Joan Kinnaird of Sparta, and Tracey Manning of Kingston; 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Conner, and a brother, Tom Conner. Pallbearers will be Mr. Conner's grandchildren. Bro. COOKEVILLE- Funeral services for James Cecil Holloway, 70, of Cookeville, will be held in the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home at 2 p.m. tomorrow with burial at Barnes Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow until the time of services. Mr. Holloway died on June 26, 1998, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. A native of Overton County, Mr. Holloway was born on July 15, 1927, to Clennie and Lou Barnes Holloway. His family includes his wife, Cordie Holloway of Cookeville; a daughter, Linda Smith of Cookeville; a son, Jimmy Holloway of Cookeville; two sisters, Tempest Burgess of Cookeville and Syble Bolhaffer of Indiana; two granddaughters, Shannon Smith and Melissa Butler, and two great-grandchildren, Krystle and Daniel Smith. Mark Loftis officiating. Burial was in the Barnes Cemetery with Rickman Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Mansell died Monday, May 28, 2001, at his home. He was a truck driver. Born December 22, 1945, in Putnam County, he was the son of Glennis (Bilbrey)

9 Mansell of Cookeville and the late Littleton "Whit" Mansell. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Dillon. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Joey (Conner) Mansell, Spring Creek Community; two daughters, Angela Burton, Silver Point, and Sherry Gosnell, Rickman; a son, Terry Mansell, Cookeville, three sisters, Gladys Andrews, Livingston, Rose Thompson, Baxter, and Mary Mayberry, Cookeville; a brother, Ray Mansell, Cookeville; and a grandson, Nicholas Gosnell, Rickman. COOKEVILLE Funeral services for Ervin Peek Jr., 69, of Cookeville will be held Thursday, September 14, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Barnes Cemetery. Mr. Peek died in his home on Monday September 11, A native of Putnam County, he was born February 20, 1926 to the late Ervin Laddie and Sithie Lee Warren Peek. He was retired from law enforcement, auto sales and tree trimming. He was a member of the Cookeville Baptist Temple and the Upper Cumberland Horseback Riders Club. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Grace Maggie Smith Peek of Cookeville; one son, Ralph Peek of Ashland City; four daughters, Grace Peek lee, Gail Peek Jared and Jannie Peek, all of Cookeville, and Glenda Peek Smith of KY; one sister, Willete Schultz of Detroit, MI; three brothers, Clyde and Tillman Peek of Cookeville and J. B. Peek of Overton County; eight grandchildren, Clarica Jared Barnes, Kim Lee Jenkins, Billy Joe Lee, Lynn Jared, Vanessa Langford, Shawn McClain, Brad Langford, and Shane Peek; and seven greatgrandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Roger Joe Peek; one brother, Charlie Peek; and two sisters, Nettie Dillon and Ruby Crabtree. The grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends today, September 12, after 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law and one son and daughter-in-law, Grace and Bill Lee of Cookeville, Ralph and Debbie Peek of Ashland City, Gail and Clarence Jared of Cookeville, Jannie Clemons of Cookeville, and Glenda and Larry Smith of Cookeville; eight grandchildren, Vanessa and Brad, Billy and Kim, Lynn and Claricia, and Shawn and Shane; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-greatgrandchildren. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery in Overton County. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today, Thurs., Oct. 28, at the funeral home. Mrs. Stultz died on Wed., Oct. 27, 1999, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.She was born on Aug. 2, 1936, in White County to the late Roy and Mary Lou Kitchersid Wallace. Mrs. Stultz was a homemaker and a member of the Free Will Baptist faith. Her family includes a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Helen and Paul Lassiter of Cookeville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Billy (Bill) Joe and Sherrie Matheney, and Harold Lee (Peanut) and Carol Matheney, all of Cookeville; a sister, Margaret Wallace of Daytona Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Phoebe West, Herbie Wayne Julian, Christopher, Ashley Marie and Shawn Lee Lassiter, Stacy, Chris, Stephanie, Kevin and Jennifer Matheney, Felicia Key and Keith Gaw; and a great-grandson, Lewis Lee West.
