Sunday is "The Coming of the Holy Spirit in Power." It is the first of a series of lessons which will deal with the ministries of the disciples and particularly that of Peter. It is amazing to see what a mighty man of God Peter became. We can hardly realize that he is the same Peter that stood outside the door the night before the crucifixion afraid to enter until John interceded for him, only to deny three times that he ever knew Jesus. It is a wonderful example of what God can do with a man if he will only have faith. If you have any doubt in your mind as to what the Holy Spirit is this lessen is recommended for study. Synonomous terms are Holy Ghost and comforter. What do these terms mean to you? You will find the word POWER used repeat,- edly with reference to the Holy Spirit. What is this power and for what is it used? Here we have an account of the 'world's first evangelist. Luke records (Acts 2:41) that approximately 3000 believed and were baptized after Peter's sermon. He also records the world's first socialists state as wealth was pooled and divided. This lesson has a very special significance in, character - building and applies both to individuals as. such and to the state relationship. It is suggested that you read the second chapter of Acts. Miss Jean Leas 1 was unable to fulfill her duties as Sunday school secretary last Sunday because the Rudy home in Silver Lake, where she is employed, is quarantined for scarlet fever. Riev. Douglas brought a message Sunday morning on the subject, "Many More Believed," John 4:41. His place was filled Sunday evening by Mr. Matthews, of the Calvary Baptist Church in Akron. Rev. Douglas spoke at the Baptist Church in Newman, Ohio. Little Betty Kline fractured her nose last Saturday evening while playing at Eattons, where she fell and struck a porch step. The entire Sunday School enjoyed a chicken supper last.monday evening, on the church lawn, served by the losing side of a membership drive contest held recently. Twenty-three new members were added to the roll. The meal was prepared -by Mrs. Brightman of Stow, who is well known for her culinary ability since she has charge of that work at Breathnach Country club. Carol Haynes is recovering from &n attack of pneumonia and complications. Miss Betty Matthews accompanied her aunt, Mrs. C. R. Wesley, cam to Sunday school last Sunday, sihe used to attend regularly, before she moved to Cleveland, so her friends were glad to see her. Mr. Thrash's brother from Denver, Ool., is spending a few days with him. He was called here because of the death of another brother in Alliance, Ohio. Max Biggs attended a birthday surprise supper on Dick Kempel, at his home in Stow, last Monday evening. Fortunately Mrs. Douglas' fall last week due to slick linoleum did not injure her recently fractured knee other than pull loose some adhesions making crutches necessary again for a feiw days. He has as his all summer guest, Richard Moore, of Pittsburgh. Mr. Harry Osma.n, Mildred Osman, Miss Ethyl Mae Carlisle and Dick Osman motored to Altoona, Pa. this July 4th to visit Mr. Osman's father and sister. Different granges throughout the county expect to have exhibits at this fair in Darrowville this fall. Letters hav e been mailed out by the Stow Band Association to the effect that all of tho'se who attend band practice regularly will be the guests of the association at the Great Lakes Exposition in Cleveland some time this fall.
