1 The Call to Discipleship Part 6 Series Text: Matthew 6:5-13 KJV And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. Luke 11:1 Disciples asked Jesus, Teach us to pray. Matthew 6:9 In this manner, therefore, pray {pray like this; pray along these lines}: Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. 5-Fold Promise of the New Covenant: 1) SIN forgiveness and deliverance from sin s dominion 2) SPIRIT fullness of the Holy Spirit 3) SOUNDNESS the promise of health and healing 4) SUCCESS freedom from the law s curse of failure and insufficiency 5) SECURITY freedom from the fear of death and hell

2 REVIEW TONIGHT S MESSAGE: Focus on the 3 rd, 4 th, and 5 th Benefit of the New Covenant The 3 rd Benefit of the New Covenant: The promise of Health and Healing SOUNDNESS of Body! Jehovah-Rapha Jehovah Heals RAPHA to restore, to cure or to heal, not only in the physical sense but also in the spiritual and moral sense; restoring to normal Exodus 15:25 NIV Then Moses cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became fit to drink. There the LORD issued a ruling and instruction for them and put them to the test. Hebrews 8:6 NLT But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises. Isaiah 53:5 NKJV But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Psalm 103:2-3 NIV Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,

James 5:16 NIV Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. The 4 th Benefit of the New Covenant: Freedom from the Law s curse of Failure and Insuffieciency SUCCESS! Jehovah-Jireh The Lord Who Sees / The Lord s Provision Shall Be Seen Genesis 22:13-14 NIV Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided. Galatians 3:14 NIV He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. Abraham s Blessing Genesis 14:17-20 NIV After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom came out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King s Valley). Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying, Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand. Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

Psalm 23:1 KJV The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Matthew 6:33 NLT Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. The 5 th Benefit of the New Covenant: Freedom from the fear of Death and Hell SECURITY! Jehovah-Nissi Jehovah My Banner Exodus 17:15 NIV Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner. BANNER pole, ensign or standard Among the Jews it s a word that also means miracle. An ensign or standard it was a rallying point to kindle hope and efforts Isaiah 11:10 NKJV And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; for the Gentiles shall seek Him, and His resting place shall be glorious.

5 John 16:33 AMP I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world. [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] Ephesians 1:19-22 NLT I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God s right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else not only in this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. Hebrews 2:14-15 NLT Because God s children are human beings made of flesh and blood the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying. 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 NLT O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.
