6 Background and Context On 20 November, 2017, the Vestry passed the following resolution: That the Vestry hereby commissions an ad hoc committee composed of Chip Harris (Chair), Bill McLellan, Cynthia Beeman, Carol Brookhart, Gregg Free, Jimi Calhoun, and Bobby Wright (subject to their agreement to serve) to develop and recommend to the Vestry a concept for a new panel for our stained glass window that will replace the current panel that contains an image of Robert E. Lee. The recommended panel will not include an image of Robert E. Lee, but it is to be consistent with All Saints architecture and the theme of the All Saints Window in such a way that traditional Episcopalians and all generations & ethnicities will find inspiring and welcoming. The recommendation is to include a proposal for the preservation of the removed panel. The Vestry asks this ad hoc committee to consult with such others as they deem appropriate and to bring their recommendations to the Vestry by March 19, 2018.

Original Willet Studios founded in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1898 Muralist and stained glass artist William Willet and his wife, Anne Lee In 1910, Willet competed for the design and installation of the Great Sanctuary Window in the Cadet Chapel at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Ten other designers, including Nicola D'Ascenzo and Tiffany Studios competed for the bid. In 1911, Willet won the commission of the Sanctuary window, a memorial to the graduates of the Military Academy. The commission, which spanned three generations of Willets over a period of sixty-six years, remains the longest continuing commission in American history.

Willet Hauser completed restoration work for All Saints this past February.
