He that cometh unto God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. This we read in the book of Hebrews. God is lbve, God is light, God is wisdom, God is truth, God is holy, God is our Father, and God is our friend, and God is the dispenser of every good and perfect gift. Now, then, if God is all this, arid infinitely more, and you and I are the objects of his love and care, then it follows that our house being set in order, this then is our privilege, to comfort this mighty God, even more, he invites us to make our wants known. Still more, to bring our burdens, and wonder of wonders his promise is to hear us, to help us and save us. Better lay hold of these promises, my friend. So I ask, do you enjoy God or do you use Him? My understanding is that he will walk with us, if we open our hearts, that he will live with us if we invite him in. Strange play on composition, strange way of wording this subject, isn't it? But now, once more, do you enjoy or do you use God? If God is wisdom, if he knows all things, and my wisdom is so shamefully limited, and his word states that we can command his inexhaustible store house, th' n, indeed by his own loving invitation I may draw near and fill my empty vessel with his own matchless wisdom. Most of us flounder much of N O. 26 our time beneath a heavy load of care, we are knee deep, or waist deep, or just going under. Friends, let's quit it, there's a better way, better let God. I suggest we use him, be happy, trust God, refuse to be floored, God is able and God will. Yes, my friend, use God, contact him, advise with him, tune in to the Infinite, put yourself in his loving care, find employment among his people, believe that your life is a tiny bit of his glorious plan. So very many seem to know God as a sort of ferry boat to carry them across when the shadows fall, and they find themselves slipping down by the river bank. The evening star and the far-away land and a delegation of angels to bear one safely across the great divide is a comforting and e x h i 1 e r ating thought. That, my friend, will all be taken care of, forget it, the mighty problem just now is life, life here and now. It's heavy, it's tangled and snarled with many uncertainties. You need yourself, yourself at your best, your best plus God. So now, my friend, do you use God? How often man turns to this mighty Defender only when defeated and beaten in the game of life, when little is left to salvage, only then, do many give serious thought of God and the benefits they might have enjoyed. CHRISTIAN ENDEAVOR This next Sunday evening at six thirty P. M. in Community Church auditorium Rev. Goldner, of the Mogadore Church of Christ, will address a union meeting of the C. E. Societies of Stow. Howard Sanner and several other young people will furnish special music. Furthermore forget not that the first Sunday of each month a special offering is in order. <$, NEWS ITEMS During the past three or four weeks, since we started to try to economize, several have remarked about the scarcity of personal news in this sheet. SILVER LAKE FLORISTS have been making a small garden and therefore failed to go out on news gathering expeditions as in times past, and (3) fewer news items have been sent into the Editor. As we see it the situation can be remedied by (1) helping us with the finances of the paper, (2) getting a new editor, and, (3) send in more news items. WITHOUT NEWS SOLICITATION "Iff Last week THREE persons contributed ten dollars each, respectively, to the Community Church News. Mentioning no names we wish, however, to thank these folks. The money was used to pay off our indebtedness to soma of those who helped finance the paper earlier in the year. THE HOLY SPIRIT "And when he had said this, he breathed on them and saith unto them, receive ye the Holy Ghost." John Last Sunday morning Rev. Hulme chose this verse as the text of his sermon on the Holy Spirit. Near the close of his discourse he told us (1) that the supreme purpose of the Holy Spirit is to bring joy, happiness and wisdom to the possessor, (2) it is obtained as a gift to those who lead a life of prayer with the single purpose in their hearts of giving their all to God and (3) Romans 8-1, tells us "There is therefore no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." A man who possesses the Holy Spirit can look the world in the eye without fear. Our minister contends that very few in the church of today know much if anything about the Holy Spirit, for no one who leads a double life can receive it. Baughman's CAMP MEETING June 30th to July 10th the Sharon Camp Meeting Association, an interdenominational holiness organization will hold forth at Sharon Center, Medina, Ohio. Evangelists Dr. H. C. Morrison, Rev. T. M. Anderson and Rev. J. M. Hames will be there. Miss Eva Clausen has charge of young people's work. This Saturday it is expected a group of young folk from our church will attend. Among those present were Juanita Bailes Bailes, Florence and Bertha Nichols, Vera Astenhafer and Jeanne Hill. Omission and correction: The fact that Miss Aldine Littell cele- brated her birthday at Bible School the preceding Sunday, should have been included in last week's paper. Furthermore it was Mrs. Lester North and not daughter Harriet, who was one of those for whom the happy birthday song was presented. We think of the following reasons why people do not attend our church: 1 They may be lazy. They may be indifferent to Christ. 3 They stay away to spite the minister. 4 They live in some other FORD SALES community in the United States. 5 They may prefer to go to another church that they enjoy better than ours. 6 Last but not least, they have a weekend trip to make to Michigan, Canada or Akron, Ohio.
