2 A highly original version of the Nativity story. Meet Balthazar, Caspar and Melchior, the three kings from the East as you ve never seen them before. Our intriguing tale begins when the kings set off from their exotic homelands to follow a bright new star in the night sky. After a difficult meeting with old King Herod they continue their long journey to find the infant Jesus. As they make their way to the stable at Bethlehem, this trio of classic characters from the Bible are brought to life by the beautiful, vibrant artwork of Mark Jones THIS IS A SALES SAMPLE AND NOT FOR RESALE. 3 Though they did not know one another, the kings shared a love for looking at the stars. They had many shiny tools to help them look closely at the night sky. The kings believed that they learned important things from how the stars moved, very slowly, through the heavens.

4 If Herod was angry with the three kings because they did not bow to him, he did not show it. He invited them to stay at the palace. "When you find this special king, be sure to come back and tell me where he is, so I may visit him, too!" yelled Herod. They used his tallest tower to look at the bright star and continue their search for the newborn king.

5 The new king was named Jesus. He had to be born in a stable, since all the rooms in town were filled up by other travellers. Even though he was born amongst sheep and donkeys, the three kings could see that Jesus was very special. They were happy to bow to Jesus and give him their precious gifts.

Spread 2 Melchior lived in Persia, a land famous for its beautiful gardens, colorful rugs and fluffy cats. Caspar lived in India, a huge land full of jungles, temples, elephants, monkeys and so many wonderful things. Spread 3 Though they did not know one another, the kings shared a love for looking at the stars. They had many shiny tools to help them look closely at the night sky. The kings believed that they learned important things from how the stars moved, very slowly, through the heavens. Spread 4 One night, the three kings saw a new star in the sky! It was so bright and it appeared to shine down on a tiny, far away kingdom called Judea. Spread 5 The three kings knew about a prophecy, a story about the future. It said that a bright new star would shine on the birth of a wonderful King of Kings. So Balthazar, Melchior and Caspar each grabbed a beautiful gift, hopped up on a camel and journeyed to Judaea to find this special newborn king. Spread 6 They crossed high mountains, low valleys, and plenty of wide rivers. Every night, each king checked the stars to make sure he was going the right way. Spread 7 Just outside Judea, the three kings met each other and talked while their camels rested. We are all looking for the King of Kings. What luck! exclaimed Balthazar. It is not luck, we were meant to meet! said Melchior. Let us all go to the palace, for surely a king would be born there! suggested Caspar. Spread 8 Surprisingly, there were no new royal babies at the palace, just an old king named Herod. The three little kings had heard stories of Herod s cruelty and they were very nervous. But they did not bow to him, nor give him their precious gifts, since Herod was not the King of Kings.
