We're looking for talent of all ages to participate! You may sing, dance, do a comedy routine, play an instrument or just be willing to share your unique talent. Please sign up in the Gathering Area. There were about 190 to enjoy the lunch, cakes, door prizes, music by Allen 9th grade Bravo choir, and Lindsey elementary school 2nd graders serving the meal. One senior even joined in our group picture!

Here s what happened at the last Church Council Meeting: Council Elections were held: Larry Lutz was elected Council President; Lou Federle was elected Vice President; and Mike Reagan as Secretary. Minutes of previous meetings were accepted; Council Corner The purchase and installation of a new dishwasher for the kitchen was approved; Current and existing Building Use Agreements were reviewed; Financial reports were examined. Based upon a three-color code system in which green = good and stable financial condition, yellow indicates a time of caution and care with regard to expenses and income, and red = YIKES! the current color code representing the financial condition of Christ the Servant is GREEN!

3 Page 3 Volunteer positions open for AMA Food Pantry: 1. Secretary (Board position) Duties include taking minutes at monthly board meetings. 2. Webmaster for Food Pantry. Duties include maintaining website for the Pantry. 3. Off site Storage Unit coordinator. Duties include managing current food stock at Pantry location and off site storage. Interested? Talk to Linda Federle or Cheryl Lindberg. Food Pantry needs for the summer: cereal bars, fruit cups (individual servings), serving size cereal boxes (non-sugar versions, if possible!). The Tenth Triennial Gathering will be held July 13-16, 2017, at the Minneapolis Convention Center, in Minneapolis, Minn. "All Anew" is the theme. Register now! Please advise Ginny Grundei if you plan to attend. OUR PURPOSE STATEMENT As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world. If you are not planning to attend the Triennial, you can still participate. Your in-kind gifts live out WELCA s purpose statement I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19 Our Tenth Triennial Gathering theme, All Anew, calls us to look at life in a new way. Our Women of the ELCA purpose statement calls us to be there for each other. God calls us to make a difference in the world. Through in-kind gifts, we can do it all: We can see into the lives of our gift recipients in Minneapolis and around the world. We can be there for them in relationship and in partnership, and we can make a difference in the world. You can focus on one in-kind gift or collect a variety. Make this a congregational unit activity and invite everyone in your congregation to get involved. The following list was determined in community with the agencies and partners that will receive them. 7 Page 7 Quilt Kits Quilts from these kits will be completed on-site and distributed by Lutheran World Relief. Fill a gallon-size sealable plastic bag with the following: Twelve 21-inch squares of cotton fabric One spool of Coats & Clark Dual Duty thread to match fabric One piece of cotton fabric for backing: 2½ yards of 60 fabric or 5 yards of fabric. Please do not use fabric printed with religious symbols, U.S. flags or military insignia. Days for Girls Kits At the gathering, participants will assemble Days for Girls feminine hygiene kits that will help girls around the world miss fewer days of school. (Find more details at welcatg.org.) The bags will include eight liners and two reusable pads that should last for three years. Please choose medium to dark colored fabric in a print that will not show stains. Please do not use fabric with religious symbols, weapons, flags, military insignia or camouflage, animals, bugs or glamor faces. Florals, botanicals and geometric prints are preferred. Fill a gallon-size Ziploc freezer bag (the most durable, not the zipper/slider type) with: One piece of ½ yard of 45 bright print fabric for the bag. 2½ yards 45 60, 100% cotton medium-to-dark print flannel fabric for the liners. One piece of ½ yard and one piece of ¼ yard % cotton fabric in a complementary color for the pads. Two pairs of underwear (girls sizes or women s size 5). Both should be the same size. One washcloth. One additional gallon-size Ziploc brand freezer bag, nonslider. Gift Cards Gift cards (minimum value $10) may be purchased from the following national retailers: Target, Walmart, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Home Depot, Ace Hardware and Lowe s. Visa gift cards are also welcome. Midwest participants additionally may purchase gift cards from Cub Foods and Stein s Garden and Gifts. Participants from the greater Minneapolis area may also purchase gas cards. Hygiene Items Several organizations receiving your inkind gifts serve families. Various products are needed, especially in family size. Items needed include ethnic hair products, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bar soap, razors and skin lotion for women, children, teens and men. Also needed are hand soap, toothbrushes, feminine hygiene items (tampons and pads), towel sets (bath, hand, washcloth), baby wipes and diapers in all sizes. Clothing Socks and underwear are needed in every size and color. Also needed are white T-shirts for women, children, teens and men. Items may be brought to the In-Kind Gifts area in the exhibit hall during the gathering where they will be sorted, counted and packed. 8 Page 8 Boy Scout Troop 79 News During January and February, the scouts of Troop 79 ran a fundraiser selling mulch. The mulch was delivered free to all purchasers on March 18. Ten adults and 18 scouts participated in the delivery. For orders purchased by congregation members, $1/bag was to be donated back to the church. At the end of the service on April 30th, Troop 79 Scoutmaster Steven Gray and District Committee Chair Danny Boyce presented Pastor Gordon with a check for $174 that was raised during the fundraiser. Thank you to all who ordered from the Troop! January 22 Ryan Boyce became the 55 th scout in Troop 79 to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. February 5 Max Hanfland became the 56 th Eagle Scout from Troop 79. March 22 Chandler Wolverton became the 57 th Eagle Scout From Troop 79. April 1 Three scouts and 2 adults from Troop 79 pitched in at the Spring Church Clean-up. The scouts helped lay sod, paint curbs and assist with the updating of the prayer garden. Additionally, 4 scouts and 4 adults participated in Earthfest and helped there with the creek cleanup. April 8 and 22 Eagle project by Pranav Mathews making benches for the Allen Arts Alliance that will go in Blue House Too located in Watters Creek. There were at least 12 scouts and 3 adults who participated. April 9 Troop 79 hosted their annual Thank You breakfast for members of Christ the Servant Lutheran. The scouts and their leaders served pancakes, waffles, eggs, sausage, bacon and beverages. April 15 Fourteen scouts and 6 adults from Troop 79 participated in Camporee. The troop won a blue and a yellow ribbon for sharp instruments and a red ribbon for shotgun shooting. April 29 Troop 79 has qualified for the Adopt a Street program. On this day, 8 scouts and 5 adults from Troop 79 cleaned up Ridgemont between Greenville and the 75 service road and collected 17 bags of trash along with other items too large for trash bags.
