3 10 Commandments of STRESS I. Thou shall not worry, for worry is the most unproductive of all human activities. II. Thou shall not be fearful, for most of the things we fear never come to pass. III. Thou shall not cross bridges before you come to then, for NO ONE yet has succeeded in accomplishing this! IV. Thou shall face each problem as it comes. V. Thou shall not take problems to bed with you, for they make poor bedfellows.

Thou shall be a good listener, for only when you listen do you hear ideas different from your own. IX. Thou shall not become bogged down by frustration, for 90% of it is rooted in self-pity and will only interfere with positive action. X. Thou shall count thy blessings, never overlooking the small ones, for a lot of small blessings add up to a BIG one.

Thou shalt not spread thyself too thin. V. Thou shalt learn to say NO. VI. Thou shalt schedule time for thyself and for thy support a network.

Thou shalt be boring, untidy, inelegant, and unattractive at times. X. Especially, thou shalt not be thine own worst enemy, but be thine own best friend.

10 Doctors Advice to Reduce Stress Plan some idleness every day Listen to others without interruptions Read books that demand concentration Learn to savor food Have a place for retreat at home Avoid irritating, overly competitive people Plan leisurely, less structured vacations Concentrate on enriching yourself Live by the calendar, not the stopwatch Concentrate on task at a time

11 16 Irrational Thoughts Something terrible will happen to me if I make a mistake. There is a right way and wrong way to do things. It is awful and horrible to be criticized. I must be receive approval al of the time. I must be competent, and especially be viewed that way.

12 16 Irrational Thoughts People in a authority should never be challenged. Life in the workplace must be fair and just. I must be in control all of the time. I must anticipate everything. I must have things the way I want them. Employees who are wrong should be punished.

13 16 Irrational Thoughts I must have somebody s shoulder to cry on. I must feel perfect all of the time. My worth as a person is exactly equated to my job performance. I was promised a corporate rose garden. It is too late for me to change, and if you expect it, I won t be able to handle it.
