1 CITY OF LOGAN, UT AH ORDINANCE NO AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS OF LOGAN MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCILS WHEREAS, state legislature has granted general welfare power to the City Council, independent, apart from, and in addition to, its specific grants of legislative authority, which enables the City of Logan to pass ordinances as are necessary and proper to provide for the safety, promote the prosperity, improve the peace and good order, comfort, convenience of the city and its inhabitants, and for protection of property the city; and WHEREAS, the Logan Municipal Code establishes Neighborhood Councils to provide another means of communication between citizens and their elected officials; and the THE WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the following ordinance is in best interest; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF OF LOGAN, UTAH, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: Chapter 2.36 NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCILS : ESTABLISHED: There is established a neighborhood council consisting of seven (7) votingpersons members chosen by the mayor with the advice and consent of the municipal council, six (6) of whom must and be selected from (6) separate areas or neighborhoods within the city and one representative for the student population of Utah State University who resides student residing in Logan selected represent the student population of Utah State University. Terms of service shall be for three (3) years. Any vacancies occurring by death, disability, removal, or resignation shall filled by a nomination of the mayor with the advice and consent of the municipal council for the unexpired portion~ tcm1 concerned,.
