All substance, intelligence, wisdom, being, im- 15 mortality, cause, and effect belong to. These are His attributes, the eternal manifestations of the infinite divine Principle, Love. No wisdom is wise but His 18 wisdom; no truth is true, no love is lovely, no life is Life but the divine; no good is, but the good bestows. Divine synonyms The true understanding of is spiritual. It robs the 27 grave of victory. It destroys the false evidence that misleads thought and points to other gods, or other so-called powers, such as matter, disease, sin, and death, superior 30 or contrary to the one Spirit :1 1 As mortals begin to understand Spirit, they give up the belief that there is any true existence 3 apart from :15 15 The illuminations of Science give us a sense of the nothingness of error, and they show the spiritual inspiration of Love and Truth to be the only fit 18 preparation for admission to the presence and power of the Most High. 6 Numbers 23:19 Section 2 19 is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? 7 Malachi 3:6 I am (to ;) 6 I am the Lord, I change not; 2014 The Christian Science Publishing Society. He is therefore the divine, infinite Principle, called Person or :24 24 As the words person and personal are commonly and ignorantly employed, they often lead, when applied to Deity, to confused and erroneous conceptions of divinity 27 and its distinction from humanity. If the term personality, as applied to, means infinite personality, then is infinite Person, in the sense of infinite personality, but 30 not in the lower sense. An infinite Mind in a finite form is an absolute impossibility :7 10 Christian Science attaches no physical nature and significance to the Supreme 9 Being or His manifestation; mortals alone do this. Section :11 (only), 22 The Scriptures imply that is All-in-all. He fills all space, and it is impossible to conceive of such omnipresence and in- 24 dividuality except as infinite Spirit or Mind. Hence all is Spirit and spiritual :8 9 Spirit is symbolized by strength, presence, and power, 9 and also by holy thoughts, winged with Love : The footsteps of thought, rising above material standpoints, are slow, and portend a long night to the traveller; but the angels of His presence the spiritual 12 intuitions that tell us when the night is far spent, the day is at hand are our guardians in the gloom. 5 14 581:4 Angels. s thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, 6 purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality :12 12 These upward-soaring beings never lead towards self, sin, or materiality, but guide to the divine Principle of all good, whither every real indi- 15 viduality, image, or likeness of, gathers. 6 16 1:1 4 Section 4 1 The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are 3 possible to, a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love :2 A A mere re- 3 quest that will heal the sick has no power to gain more of the divine presence than is always at hand. The beneficial effect of 6 such prayer for the sick is on the human mind, making it act more powerfully on the body through a blind faith in. This, however, is one belief casting out 9 another, a belief in the unknown casting out a belief in sickness. It is neither Science nor Truth which acts through blind belief, nor is it the human under- 12 standing of the divine healing Principle as manifested in Jesus, whose humble prayers were deep and conscientious protests of Truth, of man s likeness to 15 and of man s unity with Truth and Love :10 15 Prayer for the sick Christ is the ideal Truth, that comes to heal sickness and sin through Christian Science, and attributes 12 all power to. Jesus is the name of the man who, more than all other men, has presented Christ, the true idea of, healing the sick and the sinning and destroy- 15 ing the power of death :25 29 (to 2 nd.) There is no power apart from. Omnipotence has all-power, and to acknowledge any other power is to dis- 27 honor. The humble Nazarene overthrew the supposition that sin, sickness, and death have power. He proved them powerless :14 18, In order to pray aright, we must enter into the 15 closet and shut the door. We must close the lips and silence the material senses. In the quiet sanctuary of earnest longings, we must 18 deny sin and plead s allness. Self-forgetfulness, 27 purity, and affection are constant prayers. Practice not profession, understanding not belief, gain the ear and right hand of omnipotence and 30 they assuredly call down infinite blessings. 19 Psalms 91:1, 11 Section 5 Priestly pride humbled Effectual invocation Trustworthy beneficence 1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways The Christian Science Publishing Society. 7 20 Acts 12:1 Herod, Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto for him. 6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. 7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. 8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. Section :29 31 (to 1 st.) The 30 power of brings deliverance to the captive. Mental emancipation 22 94:14 Tyranny, intolerance, and bloodshed, wherever found, 15 arise from the belief that the infinite is formed after the pattern of mortal personality, passion, and impulse :7 9 It is our ignorance of, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and 9 the right understanding of Him restores harmony. Ultimate harmony :8 is not the creator of an evil mind. Indeed, evil 9 is not Mind. We must learn that evil is the awful deception and unreality of existence. Evil is not Subordination supreme; good is not helpless; nor are the of evil 12 so-called laws of matter primary, and the law of Spirit secondary. 8 25 106:7 has endowed man with inalienable rights, among which are self-government, 9 reason, and conscience. Man is properly self- Proper selfgovernment governed only when he is guided rightly and governed by his Maker, divine Truth and Love : The very circumstance, which your suffering sense deems wrathful and afflictive, Love can make an angel 30 entertained unawares. 22 Malachi 2:10 (to 2 nd?) Section 6 10 Have we not all one father? hath not one created us? 23 Psalms 133:1 1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! 24 Psalms 86:9, 10 9 All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name. 10 For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art alone :9 13 Section 6 9 It should be thoroughly understood that all men have one Mind, one and Father, one Life, Truth, and Love. Mankind will become perfect in proportion as this fact 12 becomes apparent, war will cease and the true brotherhood of man will be established :23 One infinite, good, unifies men and nations; con- 24 stitutes the brotherhood of man; ends wars; fulfils the Scripture, Love thy neighbor as thyself; annihilates pagan and Christian idolatry, whatever is wrong in 27 social, civil, criminal, political, and religious codes; equalizes the sexes; annuls the curse on man, and leaves nothing that can sin, suffer, be punished or destroyed :3 3 s being is infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
