Wednesday Night Bible Study/Prayer Meeting Wisdom for church leadership We would edify believers through the systematic teaching of the Bible, public worship, ministry of believers, observance of the ordinances, and the administration of biblical discipline, Acts 2:42 47; 9:31; 1 Cor 14:26

3 Thursday, November 17 Read 2 Thessalonians 3 Jeremy, Caroline, Isobel, and William Dion- Papua New Guinea-- Pray for an increase of support, both financial and prayer Financial Stability Prayer and financial support of missionaries We would equip believers to do the work of the ministry for the maturity, protection, and growth of the body, Eph 4:11 16; Heb 5:12 14 Friday, November 18 Read Romans 1 Charlie and Bo Frink- New Zealand--Praise the Lord that we are able to move back into our house! Believers will grow more like Christ and less like the world through the Spirit s help and personal discipline Wisdom and provision for a permanent meeting house We would establish churches of like faith and practice at home and abroad, Matt 28:19 20; Acts 14:21 23

4 Saturday, November 19 Read Romans 2 Daniel, Rosamma, Dany, Merlin, and David Kumar- India--Pray that the children in the community at Idukki would continue to seek to know the truth God would bless His Word, answer our prayers, and use our lives and public services for the salvation of souls and the increase and strengthening of His church OBC men and women would grow in grace, fulfill their roles and responsibilities in their homes, and minister to our church body by word and example We would earnestly contend for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints, Phil 1:27; 1 Tim 6:12; Jude 3

5 Sunday, November 20 Read Romans 3 Mark and Bekah Perry- Chile--Pray for God s wisdom as we prepare to move to Edinburg, Texas the first week of January Sunday Services- Sinners will be convicted and trust Christ We would minister to one another for the unity, maturity, protection, and growth of our church (Eph 4:12-16) We would exalt the Lord Jesus Christ as we gather in public worship, Acts 2:42 47; 1 Cor 14:24 25; Col 3:1

6 Christian Truths for Christian Living Lesson Thirteen: Salvation Spirit Filling and Sanctification When sinners hear the gospel and God opens their eyes to repent and trust Christ, the Lord saves them. From the last lesson you learned that believers are united with Christ through Spirit baptism, are declared righteous before God (justification), and gain a standing with God as a son/heir with all the rights and privileges that come with such (adoption). What other aspects of salvation follow genuine repentance and faith? 1. Believers are filled with the Spirit. How is this described in the New Testament? a. Galatians 5:16 b. Galatians 5:18 c. Ephesians 5:18 Spirit filling occurs throughout the believer s life, strengthening and enabling him to live like Christ. Being filled with the Spirit doesn t mean believers get more of the Spirit He wholly indwells every believer. Rather, Spiritfilling refers to being controlled by the Spirit, like when people are filled (controlled) with fear (Luke 5:26), rage (Luke 6:11), or sorrow (John 16:6). 2. How do believers walk by, how are they led and filled controlled by the Spirit? a. Acts 4:24 31 b. Romans 6:13 c. Galatians 5:16

If Christ has saved you from sin s penalty and power, that will be seen in every aspect your life. Are you growing more like Christ and less like the world?
