1 Winter Quarterly Session Illinois District Council Missionary & Women s Auxiliary Newsletter January 2, 2013 A New Start! But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. Romans 7:6 A happy and blessed new year to each of you! The year of 2013 begins like all others. Each day is like a blank page waiting for the writer. Who knows what opportunities will come to us this year? The start of a new year is the perfect time to form new and better habits. As believers, each of us would benefit from spending more time with the Lord each day. Here s an idea for this year spend more time talking with (and listening to) God each day than you spend talking to others! As we listen to His still, small voice; ordinary days will be filled with extraordinary moments. Let us turn aside from our busyness and make this a year of greater efforts devoted to attending to God s business. Each day as we are presented with the day s demands, there will be many choices to be made. As you spend more time with Him consider the following choices: Choose to love God and what He loves no occasion justifies hatred; no injustice warrants bitterness. Choose to live in peace forgive others so that you, too will be forgiven. Choose to be patient overlook the inconveniences of the world and the unkindness of others; don t complain when you have to wait; take that time to pray. Continued from Column 1 Choose to be kind be kind to the poor and unfortunate; they already feel alone. Be kind to those who are unkind or rude; remember, God has been kind to you. Choose faithfulness keep your word so that others will not question it or regret the trust they placed in you. Choose to be gentle if you raise your voice, let it be in true praise or worship. If you make any demands, let it be only of self rather than others. When each day is done, place your head on your pillow and be thankful that you have taken the opportunity to show forth the love of God. Thank God for a beautiful NEW START! WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT! The message of encouragement delivered during the evening service of the October council session were short, sweet and oh, so memorable. Thank God for Evangelist Gussie Southern who proved that words fitly spoken are like apples of silver in pictures of gold. Truly, she allowed the Lord to use her to minister words to President Nona and the staff of the IDCMWA. To paraphrase her message of vigilance as you move forward with the vision that the Lord has given you; just know that for every Mordecai in your life, there will also be a Haman. Whatever comes against us, we are guaranteed the victory as long as we allow the Lord to direct our path. From the President s Desk... Evangelist Nona Fortineaux Praise the Lord! Welcome everyone to this first session of the Missionary and Women s Auxiliary of I pray you were blessed in 2012, and will continue to be blessed in 2013, still Committed to the Kingdom Agenda! I am excited about our mission. First, because it is a mandate from God, and second, because as women of God, we are workers together. God has extended this invitation to come together as one to worship and obey Him. We are commanded to commit ourselves to evangelism; the Bible gives us no choice. The first word in the theme is committed, which means, a promise or pledge. To commit to something is to give oneself to that something. There is no greater commitment given to the church or to us as individuals than to Continue to Column 2 Continued on Page 2

2 Greetings From Vice President Praise the Lord to each IDC missionary gathered to worship at the start of The October session of the Missionary & Women s Auxiliary was the maiden voyage for President Nona Fortineaux and the newly elected officers; it was truly blessed and anointed by God. From the opening devotion to the final amen at the end of the evening service, the Lord was magnified. St. Luke 6:31 states And as ye would that men should First Lady Maxine Williams do to you, do ye also to them likewise. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every Saint of God who joined in the service where needed to help lift the Name of Jesus higher. We are most appreciative of all of the Local Presidents who continue to support with your church reports, attendance and finances. Your enthusiasm and exuberance in praising God proves to be contagious; others are encouraged to join in. We praise God for President Nona; during her Presidential address, we were given clear direction for the next 4 years. Let s continue to work together to help carry out the vision that the Lord has given her. We anticipate a great move of God as He does a new thing during each of our upcoming sessions. Come expecting a blessing! Maxine Williams First Lady Maxine Williams From the President s Desk... (cont d) Continued from Page 1 spread the gospel; the good news of Jesus Christ. So, let s journey on, letting a dying world know there is an answer and an antidote to their problems. We must not only witness to our family, friends, and neighborhoods, but to the entire world. Jesus said, The field is the world. (Matt. 13:38). Commitment to the Kingdom Agenda demands both time and money. Saints, missions demands both time and money. It cost time and money to sow the seeds of the gospel around the world. We Must Give That Others Might Live! We must pray as we begin this journey of meeting the needs of others. Enough cannot be said about the importance of prayer in evangelism. All of our efforts and giving are ineffective without prayer. Prayer and faith keeps God in the forefront in this kingdom mission. The lost condition of the world should be enough to invoke a response of compassion in our hearts. The need dictates our response! Ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:18) There should be no difference in our burden for the soul at home, or, far away. Our responsibility is to the entire world. So let s be committed to our homes and foreign missions. By whatever means we may choose to do this, the scripture says we are debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians, both to the wise, and to the unwise. Say not ye, there are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. (John 4:35) I thank God for you. God has a definite work He wants us to do in the vineyard! May God continue to bless and smile upon each of you. May God give you peace and may you serve Him with your whole heart! In the Master s Service, Nona C. Fortineaux Evangelist Nona C. Your love, kindness and generosity in support of our outreach have allowed us to provide medical support to the Fulani Village in Senegal, West Africa. We are happy to report that the overall health of the approximately 300 villagers continues to improve. In addition to medical support we have provided education and instruction on sanitation, purchased school supplies, provided solar energy to a part of the village, made needed repairs to toilets, desks and chairs in the school and provided enrichment books for the children to read. We are thankful that there have been no deaths in the village for the past 6 years as a result of our ongoing anti-malarial program. God bless each of you for your prayers and continued support. 6
