What step n ndvdual unoldment s typed by the gatherng o the "trbes o srael and Judah" at "Hebron"? The gatherng o the trbes o "srael" and "Judah" at "Hebron" represents the conscous recognton that Love (Davd) has become the Supreme Ruler n conscousness. "Love s the ulllng o the law." May 6, 95 Sam. 5:-5. Then came all the trbes o srael to Davd unto Hebron, and spake, sayng, Behold, we are thy bone and thy lesh. 2. n tmes past, when Saul was kng over us, t was thou that leddest out and broughtest n srael: and Jehovah sad to thee, Thou shalt be shepherd o my people srael, and thou shalt be prnce over srael. 3. So all the elders o srael came to the kng to Hebron; and kng Davd made a covenant wth them n Hebron beore Jehovah: and they anonted Davd kng over srael. 4. Davd was thrty years old when he began to regn, and he regned orty years. 5. n Hebron he regned over Judah seven years and sx months; and n Jerusalem he regned thrty and three years over all srael and Judah. Why dd all srael come to anont Davd kng over them? Davd, represents love, and love makes contact wth and rules all the realtes o le. These realtes are represented by srael. Davd was a man o ~war. How then does he represent love? '! " AS love untolds n our conscousness t passes through derent stages or degrees o expresson. When t s expressed n personal conscousness t resorts to warare and conlct n seekng to possess and hold ast the object o ts expresson. Davd the warror also loved peace, justce, and rghteousness. ' -,: 33 What s one o the mportant oces o love n spb-> tual unoldment? x '-'A ndvdually, love draws and holds together all the* other acultes o beng; n a unversal sense, love s the power whch works ncessantly to brng nto manest taton n men and n natons the altrustc sprt o onej ness, whch proves that n realty the Father has "xsma%\ o one [blood] every naton." lll3 n our exercse o sel-control s the wll more powerul than love? No, love s more powerul than the wll. "When Saul was kng ovet us, t was thou that leddest out and broughtest n srael." Love s the supreme aculty. O what mportance s a covenant wth Jehovah? t keeps us conscous o Truth and ads us n conormng to the dvne law.

And Davd Why was Davd anonted to be "shepherd" o srael and prnce over srael? One meanng o the name srael s ;"rulershp wth God." The name represents the thoughts that are wrought tn truth and rghteousness, n other words, the sprtual conscousness. To shepherd these thoughts s to guard and nurture them, keepng the lock sae and undsturbed. To be prnce pver such thoughts s to control them and make o them what we wll. Also n tme past, when Saul was kng over us, thou wast he that leddest out and brought- est n srael, and the Lord sad to thee Thou shalt eed my people, srael, and thou shalt be a captan over srael. 3. So all the elders o srael came to the kng to Hebron; and kng Davd made a league wth them n Hebron beore the Lord: and they anonted Davd kng over srael. <s ;' 4. And the kng and hs men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebustes, the nhabtants o the land: whch spake unto Davd, sayng, Except thou take away the blnd and the lame, thou shalt not come n hther: thnkng, Davd cannot come n hther. 7. Nevertheless, Davd took the strong hold o Zon: the same s the cty o Davd, 8. And Davd sad on that day, whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smteth the Jebustes, andthe lame and the blnd, that are hated o Davd's soul, he shall be che and captan. Whereore they sad, The blnd and the lame shall not cone nto the house. s 9. So Davd dwelt n the ort, and called t the cty o Davd. And Davd bult around about rom Mlloand nward. 0. and Davd went on, and grew great, and the Lord God o hosts was wth hm.. And Hram kng o Tyre sent messengers to Davd, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they bult Davd an house. 2. And Davd perceved that the Lord had establshed hm kng over srael, and that he had exalted hs kngdom or hs people srael's sake. (See next page or nterpretaton)

5 / NTERPRETATON. All srael assemble at Hebron (place o the covemant), and there recognze thek n - shp o Love ("we are thy bone and thy l e s h " ), and ts superor tness or ull domnon; 2. And recallng that n the past twasl o v e that was the real motve power o all acton, and thereore oreordaned "to eed my people, srael," and "tobe captan over them." $ 3. The che thoughts ("elders")o the whole realm o srael come, and make a league wth Love, voluntarly pledgng ther allegance; and they "anont Davd (Love) kng over Judah and srael," the whole realm o Sprtual g thought. Ths s the establshment o Love as a conscousness Love on ts throne s never less than the ullness o mature manhood ("30 years old"- Jesus was 30 years old when he began to preach) and the duraton o ts regn s through the J ullness o tme ("40 years" 4x0). 6. The"Jebustes" were one o the natve. Canaante Trbes, whch Judah and Benjamn, ) n the allotment, dd not succeed n drvng out. These "Jebustes" represent certan seemngly unconquerable race beles, such as heredty, whch have ntrenched themselves n the very ctadel o the mnd ("Jerusalem"); J where they say to the new conscousness, You cannot domnate us except by ths test:"except ye take away the blnd and the lame," whch are always to be ound on m o r t a l mnd's premses:--"except ye see sgns and wonders ye wll not beleve." UNTY magazne!

6 7. But Love has omnpotent power to "take away" even the strongest race beles, to "take away the blnd and the lame;" and by ths means to carry the mpregnable stronghold o the "Jebustes." Thus the unsubdued enemes' country o race beles becomes "Zon the cty o Davd," through the demonstraton o healng. 8. Love cannot tolerate mperecton; t sees only perecton o beng: "the blnd and the lame" are nmcal to Love("hated o Davd's soul"). thereore Love "smtes" mortal man's alse clams wth the rrstable ' word o Truth--"sword o the Sprt"--whch s Love's only oensve weapon,--god shall smte Egypt and shall heal t"--s.9: V/hen through the power o Love and Truth we "smte" and destroy some great clam o mortal mnd, we nd ths place o vctory s a new center o actvty, aordng opportunty or larger growth and uller dom- non, n the realzaton that, "the Lord o Hosts s wth us.". Love bulds her "house" o the "cedars" urnshed by noble thoughts ("Hram"), 'n whch she s delghtully envroned. "Wsdom * hath bulded her house"--?rov. 9:. 2. Havng attaned to the Love conscous- ~"" ness, we "perceve" that ths attanment s a Dvne establshment, and that the exaltaton o our Love Kngdom s or "srael's sake " n the "Kngdom o Heaven"--the conscousness o Love domnant--there s no arbtrary authorty; all thoughts choose to be subject to Love; or the deal Kng "derves hs just powers rom the consent o the governed."
