5 The Heralding, Luke 7:1-5 When He had completed all His discourse in the hearing of the people, He went to Capernaum. And a centurion's slave, who was highly regarded by him, was sick and about to die. When he heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders asking Him to come and save the life of his slave. Luke 7:4-5 Proved his worthiness through his works James 2:14-26 Our works show that we are the friend of God; John 15:14 Wise = obedience; Foolish = disobedience; Luke 6:46-49 He loved Israel So should we! 10 The Humility; Luke 7:6-8 Now Jesus started on His way with them; and when He was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to Him, " Lord, do not trouble Yourself further, for I am not worthy for You to come under my roof; for this reason I did not even consider myself worthy to come to You, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed. Luke 7:6-7 Jesus started on His way He came for ALL people; John 3:16; 2 Peter 3:9; 1 John 2:2 for I am not worthy (ἱκανος ceremonially worthy) A Jew would be defiled by entering a Gentile home. I did not consider myself worthy (ἀξιοω spiritually worthy) He was one of the poor Jesus came for; Luke 4:18; 6:20 Just say the word

' and he comes, and to my slave, 'Do this! ' and he does it. Luke 7:8 Every soldier is under authority Common sense says we should obey Of course Jesus can heal since He is God

12 The Healing; Luke7:9-10 Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled at him, and turned and said to the crowd that was following Him, "I say to you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith." When those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the slave in good health. 14 COMMUNION SUNDAY And when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, This is My body, which is for you, do this in remembrance of Me. In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me. For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord s death until He comes. 1 Corinthians 11:24-27
