Now there was a famine in the land besides the earlier famine of Abraham s time and Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines in Gerar. GENESIS 26:1
The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live. GENESIS 26:2
Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham. GENESIS 26:3
I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, GENESIS 26:4
because Abraham obeyed Me and kept My requirements, My commands, My decrees, and My laws. GENESIS 26:5
So Isaac stayed in Gerar. GENESIS 26:6
When the men of that place asked him about his wife, he said, She is my sister, because he was afraid to say, She is my wife. He thought, The men of this place might kill me on account of Rebekah, because she is beautiful. GENESIS 26:7
When Isaac had been there a long time, Abimelech king of the Philistines looked down from a window and saw Isaac caressing his wife Rebekah. GENESIS 26:8
So Abimelech summoned Isaac and said, She is really your wife! Why did you say, She is my sister? Isaac answered him, Because I thought I might lose my life on account of her. GENESIS 26:9
Then Abimelech said, What is this you have done to us? One of the men might well have slept with your wife, and you would have brought guilt upon us. GENESIS 26:10
So Abimelech gave orders to all the people: Anyone who molests this man or his wife shall surely be put to death. GENESIS 26:11
A faith that can t be tested can t be trusted. WARREN WIERSBE

That night the Lord appeared to him and said, I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bless you and will increase the number of your descendants for the sake of My servant Abraham. GENESIS 26:24
Isaac Caves In: His Fear Fuels Deceit (26:6 11)
The Lord detests lying lips, but He delights in men who are truthful. PROVERBS 12:22
Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one Body. EPHESIANS 4:25
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 1 PETER 3:9
For, Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. 1 PETER 3:10
Where faith is weak, people cower in fear and often endanger the work of God. Faith boldly faces danger, but fear is a mockery of faith. ALLEN ROSS
Unbelief asks, How can I get out of this? Faith asks, What can I get out of this? WARREN WIERSBE
God Shows His Cards: The Blessing Is Undeniable (26:12 33)
God was with him. The blessing was evidence of God s presence. ALLEN ROSS
Isaac is very much walking in his father s footsteps. He receives similar promises, faces similar tests, fails similarly, but eventually triumphs in like fashion
despite Isaac s failings, the Lord is with him, protects him, blesses him, and makes him extremely wealthy. God s gracious promises will be fulfilled despite the frailty of His chosen vessels. GORDON WENHAM
Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong; PSALM 37:1
for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. PSALM 37:2
Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. PSALM 37:3
Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. PSALM 37:4
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this: PSALM 37:5
He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. PSALM 37:6
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. PSALM 37:7
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. ROMANS 8:28
For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. ROMANS 8:29
And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified. ROMANS 8:30
What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? ROMANS 8:31
He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things? ROMANS 8:32
Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. ROMANS 8:33
Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died more than that, who was raised to life is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. ROMANS 8:34
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? ROMANS 8:35
As it is written: For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. ROMANS 8:36
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. ROMANS 8:37
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, ROMANS 8:38
neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. ROMANS 8:39
If God is for you, no one can be successfully against you including you!
