Numbers 12:1-4 Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married; for he had married a Cushite woman. They said, Has the LORD indeed spoken only with Moses? Numbers 12:1 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. Numbers 14:1,2 And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! The people have been murmuring about their leadership and the Promised Land of Israel that God was gifting them. Now this week we have the rebellion of Korah with all of his murmurings. It comes right after the sin of the spies we have the rebellion of Korah. (KJV) Numbers 16:1-3 Now Korach, xrq the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men: And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD? Korach comes across a champion of equality, railing against a "class system" that categorizes levels of holiness within the community. Yet, in the same breath, he contends that he is the more worthy candidate for the High Priesthood. 2

3 (KJV) Exodus 6:16a And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari: (KJV) Exodus 6:18a And the sons of Kohath; Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel: (KJV) Exodus 6:20a And Amram took him Jochebed his father's sister to wife; and she bare him Aaron and Moses (KJV) Exodus 6:21 And the sons of Izhar; Korah, and Nepheg, and Zichri. Korah was a firstborn (KJV) Exodus 6:22 And the sons of Uzziel; Mishael, and Elizaphan, and Zithri. Korah is the firstborn of Izhar or son of the anointing oil (KJV) Numbers 3:30 And the chief of the house of the father of the families of the Kohathites shall be Elizaphan the son of Uzziel. (KJV) Numbers 2:10a On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their armies (KJV) Numbers 3:29 The families of the sons of Kohath shall pitch on the side of the tabernacle southward. (KJV) 1Chronicles 5:1a Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: (KJV) Numbers 16:4-7 And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face: And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even tomorrow the LORD will show who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him. This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company; And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the LORD doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi. (AKJV) Numbers 16:10-12 And He has brought you near to him, and all your brothers the sons of Levi with you. And you seek the priesthood also? For which cause both you and all your company are gathered against the LORD. And what is Aaron, that you murmur against him? And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab which said, We will not come up. Numbers 16:13 Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, but you must also make yourself a prince over us? 3

4 Exodus 2:13,14 He went out the second day, and behold, two men of the Hebrews were fighting with each other. He said to him who did the wrong, Why do you strike your fellow? He said, Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you plan to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian? Moses was afraid, and said, Surely this thing is known. (AKJV) Numbers 16:21-27 Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment. And they fell on their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and will you be wroth with all the congregation? And the LORD spake to Moses, saying, Speak to the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him. And he spake to the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins. So they got up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children. (KJV) Numbers 16:30,31 But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth and swallow them up with all that appertain unto them, and they go down alive into the pit, then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD. And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, the ground clave asunder that was under them. (KJV) Numbers 16:33-35 They, and all that [appertained] to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation. And all Israel that [were] round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up [also]. And there came out a fire from the Lord, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense. (AKJV) Revelations 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. (KJV) Psalms 106:13-18 They soon forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel: But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert. And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. They envied Moses also in the camp, [and] Aaron the saint of the Lord. The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram. And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked. (KJV) Psalms 106:24,25 Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word: But murmured in their tents, [and] hearkened not unto the voice of the Lord. 4

5 (HNV) Numbers 16:41 But on the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron saying, You have killed the LORD S people! (AKJV) Numbers 16:49 Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Korah. (AKJV) Numbers 17:12,13 And the children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish. Whoever comes any thing near to the tabernacle of the LORD shall die: shall we be consumed with dying? Just shut up and quit your grumbling and you won t die! (AKJV) 1Corinthians 10:10,11 Neither murmur you, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. Now all these things happened to them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the world are come. (AKJV) Numbers 17:8-10 And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds. And the LORD said to Moses, Bring Aaron's rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and you shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not. (AKJV) 1Chronicles 6:37b, 38 the son of Korah, son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, son of Israel. John 10:22-25 It was the Feast of Hanukkah at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Yeshua was walking in the temple, in Solomon s porch. The Judeans therefore came around him and said to him, How long will you hold us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly. Yeshua answered them, I told you, and you don t believe. The works that I do in my Father s name, these testify about me. John 10:30-35 I and the Father are one. Therefore the Judeans took up stones again to stone him. Yeshua answered them, I have shown you many good works from my Father. For which of those works do you stone me? The Judeans answered him, We don t stone you for a good work, but for blasphemy: because you, being a man, make yourself God. Yeshua answered them, Isn t it written in your law, I said, you are gods? If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture can t be broken). 6

7 Best Practices Thank you for joining us today at El Shaddai Ministries! In order to bless and protect our congregation, we have put some guidelines in place and ask those attending to observe these to the best of their ability. Please return promptly and quietly to your seats after the break. Please turn cell phone off or set to vibrate. Parents please monitor your children and keep them from roaming the hallways or lobby area. They should be in class or seated with you. At the close of the service please take your items, i.e. notes etc. to respect the cleanliness of the Sanctuary. Please return any unmarked notes you do not wish to keep to the box at the back table. Please dress modestly so as not to be a distraction to others, and dress your best to honor God, and in respect of the Sabbath. ONEG (Potluck Lunch) It has been a long standing tradition at El Shaddai Ministries to fellowship together after the service every 2 nd Saturday by sharing a meal. El Shaddai Ministries provides all the beverages for the break and oneg. Please do not add items to the table. If you are blessed to be able to bring a dish for oneg, please observe the following guidelines: All items must be checked in with the oneg staff. Items not checked in will not be served. All items must be marked with your name and phone number. Only bring Biblically clean foods, i.e. NO pork, shellfish, or gelatin products. Please bring fresh cooked dishes and not leftovers. Packaged food must be unopened. Also after ONEG make sure to take your dishes and utensils home. If there is any question as to these standards please discuss with the Zakens after the service. We ask that you let seniors; first time visitors and those with mobility issues go first in line. Parents of small children please help your child with their plates.
