1 דרכה של תורה ערב שב ק פרשת נצבים וילך כ ד אלול תשע ז Kids Speak... It seems like months since holidays but we have only actually been in חדר for about 3 weeks! חדר has become a lot of fun! This Wednesday Rebbe Dresner who is a סופר came to חדר to tell us all about ספרות. He showed us how to open up תפילין and to check it as some people have a מנהג to do it in Elul. One very exciting change is our weekly newsletter that רבי שפיטצער kindly makes every week. It makes the whole חדר become like one big friendly class! Because we all read each others news. 7 די יארצייט פון די הייליגע חפץ חיים זצ ל Reb Yisroel Meir HaCohen Kagan commonly known as the חיים,חפץ the name of his famous work on הלשון.שמירת Born in Zhetel, Poland on February 6, 1838, he was taught until age 10 by his parents and then moved to Vilna to further his Torah learnings. The חפץ חיים settled in Radin (Poland) and subsisted on a small grocery store which his wife managed but he did the bookkeeping -watching every penny to make sure that no one was cheated. He spent his days learning Torah בהתמדה and teaching the common people. As his reputation grew, תלמידים from all over Europe flocked to him and by 1869 his house became known as the Radin Yeshiva. In addition to his Yeshiva, the חפץ חיים was very active in Jewish causes. He traveled extensively (even in his 90s!) to encourage was חפץ חיים amongst yiden. He also published seforim to strengthen certain aspects of Jewish life including kashrus, לימוד התורה and more.
