3 M onday: Introduction The life of Jesus from the time he returned from Egyptian exile until he began his public ministry at approximately 30 years of age is almost a complete mystery. Why do you think God did that? If we trust God we must believe those details have no usefulness for our lives (otherwise, God would have included it in the Bible). But that hasn t stopped people from speculating and making wild guesses about what happened during those years. There are many unsolved mysteries today. People seem to enjoy them. Identify the mystery based on the information given. 4 T uesday: Maturing (part 1) In Luke 2:40 three areas of maturity are described: physical, spiritual and mental. Write the phrases from Luke 2:40 in the blanks below that show the three areas of maturity Jesus exhibited. Vs. 49: What did Jesus think they should have known? 44 Vs. 50: Did they understand what he meant? 45 Write Passover for the Event of Luke 2:41-50 on the Harmony of the Gospels outline. 7 T hursday: Maturing (part 2) Even though Jesus understood who (son of God) and what he was (savior, Lord, and Christ) he also knew his proper place in the home. Luke 2:51-52 his maturity. Vs. 51a: How did Jesus respond to parental authority? 46 Do you think that was hard for him to do (since he was God and never makes mistakes but his parents were human and DID make mistakes)? 9 F riday: Passover: method This week s lesson involves a feast God instituted for Israel in Exod based on the last plague in Egypt the Passover. Chapter 12 focuses on the method (how) the Passover was to be celebrated. 1 New calendar: new beginning In vs. 1-4 God tells Israel that he is going to give them a new calendar. When they came out of Egypt it was the 77 of months for their year. Vs. 3: Put an X on the day when the lamb was to be taken (below). Sun Mon Tues Wed Thur Fri Sat Vs. 4: Circle the family which might be too small for an entire lamb. 2 New sacrifice: lamb In vs God tells Israel that he is going to give them a new sacrifice. 11 S unday: Passover: meaning In Exod 13 God focuses not on the method of the Passover but its meaning. Vs give three reasons why they were supposed to keep the Passover feast every year. 1. First, it would be a 87 upon their. 88 Whatever they did was to be guided by God. 2. Second, it would be a 89 between their. 90 Whatever they saw was to remind them of God s law (in their mouth). 3. Third, it would be an 91 in his. 92 It was a test of their obedience every year.
