There was a division between God and his people called SIN. For God to be able to commune with his people he created the tabernacle. Through the sacrifice of animals, and following the laws, they could make atonement for their sins. This was a model of what was to come when Jesus arrives. 1500years later. How do we access God?

The children of Israel were so excited that God was coming to dwell with them, they couldn t wait, so they built their own God.

Isaiah 28:11 For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people, This if the form God took. This Isaiah verse is perhaps the only OT verse that references speaking in tongues.
