IntheaftermathofMichaelBrown s shooting, youngpeopleandyoungadultsinfergusonandgreaterstlouis refusedtoreturntobusinessasusual.theyhavedemandedandaredemandingsystemicchangetothe conditions thatallowedthisdeathtooccur.theyhavebeenprotestingforjustice.andtheyhavecaughttheire oflocalpolicefromstlouiscountyandferguson.theyhavebeenharassed,intimidated, assaulted,abusedand teargassed.yet,theycontinuetomarchandprotest forjustice,formichaelbrown,foracommunity thatis fracturedbyraceandnotatallhowgodintendedittobe.theyaremarchingforallofusandforhowtheworld shouldbe. WhatcanthepeopleofGoddowhenjusticeisdelayedincoming?Theycangiveintotheirownanxietyandsettle foraquickfix,aneasypeace.butweknowfromourscriptureandourexperiencealikethatthiswouldbeabright andshinydistractionfromtheworkthatneedstobedone,easingourmindswhentheyshouldstayunsettled.the peopleofgodhaveachoice:theycanchooseeaseortheycanchoosefaith.theycanresisttheurgetomakea goldencalfandinsteadstayintheirdiscomfort,notknowingwhenmoseswillreturnfromthemountain,not knowinghowlongjusticewillbeincoming,butlettingtheirfaithdrivethemtocontinueworkingtowardthetrue justicethatisalongtimecoming,butforwhichtherecanbenosubstitute.
