One teacher take control of sign-in: One tag will go on the child, another will go on the clipboard, and one will be used for checkout. Just place the Pick Up sticker on the clipboard to check the child out. If someone is new to the church or not in our database they can fill out a guest tag. Please make sure that you get their phone number in case we need to contact them and any special instructions for the care of their child. One teacher lead orderly free play. 4:00 4:20 Coloring Sheet / Snack / Intro Activity COLORING SHEET: Have the kids color the sheet and ask them questions about the sheet. SNACK: Animal Crackers & Water Hand each child animal crackers in a cup and water in a cup with a lid. Pray over them a simple prayer. INTRO ACTIVITY: Vegetable Hunt Pick out a few small toys to hide. Hide them in small batches around the room. Allow the rest of the group to move around the room together, searching for the toys. Give instructions such as look higher, look lower, move to the left, turn around, and so on. When kids find the toys, they may each claim one and bring it to you. Allow kids to hunt until each kid has claimed a toy. Say: In today s Bible story, four friends chose to honor and obey God by eating only vegetables. Craft: Items needed: printout of veggies, crayons, scissors, paper bag Instructions: (1) Give each child one of every veggie and have them color it. At one end of the room, place two baskets. Instruct the kids to line up at the other end of the room. Roll up some paper into balls. Give one to each kid. Kids will take turns tossing their ball into their team s basket while yelling out the name of a fruit or vegetable. If a kid misses, he must toss again until his ball lands in the basket and stays in. Then that child will move to the end of the line. 8 Bible Lesson: Many years ago, God s people lived in a country called Judah. They had a king whose name was Jehoiakim (jih HOY uh kim). Jehoiakim did bad things, and God s people did bad things too. God was not happy, and He punished His people. God let another king come and take over Judah. The king s name was Nebuchadnezzar (NEB yoo kad NEZ uhr), and he was the king of Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar and his army marched into Jerusalem and took over the city! They went into God s temple in Jerusalem and took things that did not belong to them. Nebuchadnezzar wanted boys to be brought to Babylon to serve him in his palace. So a group of healthy, handsome, and smart boys were taken to Babylon. King Nebuchadnezzar gave them the same kind of food that he ate. He gave the boys the same kind of drinks that he drank. He chose men to be their teachers for three years. Then they would be ready to serve in the king s palace. Four of the boys were different than the others. Even though they weren t in Judah, they still wanted to worship and obey the Lord, the one true God. These boys were named Daniel, Shadrach (SHAD rak), Meshach (MEE shak), and Abednego (uh BED-nih goh). God s rules said that His people were not supposed to eat the kinds of food that Nebuchadnezzar gave them. Daniel and his friends wanted to obey God. Daniel asked the man in charge if he and his friends could have vegetables and water instead. Daniel said, Give us vegetables and water for 10 days. Then see if we are strong or weak. So the guard brought Daniel and his friends vegetables and water. After 10 days, Daniel and his friends looked healthier than the young men who had eaten the king s food. So the guard let them eat vegetables and drink water instead of eating the king s food. God was happy that Daniel wanted to obey Him. God was kind to Daniel and his friends. He made them wise and smart. Daniel served the king for many years. Christ Connection: Daniel and his friends wanted to obey God, and God helped them. In a greater way, Jesus always did what God wanted Him to do. Jesus never sinned, but He came to earth to rescue sinners. God forgives and helps everyone who trusts in Jesus.
