Gilbert Beers is one of the most prominent names in Christian children's books today. His more than 100 titles include The Toddler's Bible, My Picture Bible, Bible Stories to Live By,, and Precious Moments Through the Years --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title. I think this Bible is extremely watered down. I know it's supposed to be for early-readers, but even early readers can handle more depth. It paraphrases all of the stories and does not give any of the rich details that are in the Bible. I usually end up telling the whole story with my own memorized scriptures while my 5 year old looks at the pictures. Will use this more and more as our kindergartner does more and more reading. She has about 60 words she reads quickly and I don't believe it will be long before she can read this by herself. The lovely pictures aid that ability and there are lists in the back to help teachers (or grandmotherswink) to know how we are progressing. My personal belief is that learning is greatly enhanced when the child can read along as opposed to hearing only. We also urge our little one to tell how the pictures fit what is being read and this book is a great tool -- BOTH to learn to read AND to learn God's Word. The references are also listed which is a great help for the one doing the teaching AND if you are helping the child to memorize passages Highly recommend this Bible for ages 4-6. It's one that is developmentally appropriate for the beginning reader. It's full of sight words! I can totally see Victoria eventually reading this on her own. I especially like that it forces the parent to checks their child's comprehension in the end of each story. It also builds upon their spiritual understanding, as well as their education.*it is marked for ages 4-8. My son is beyond this reading and he's 8. I would say age seven at the latest if your child is on reading level. I bought the Early Reader's Bible several months ago for my 4-year-old who is currently reading at about a 2nd grade level. I wanted her to have her very own Bible that she could read for herself. This Bible is engaging for her, especially with all of the beautiful pictures, which is crucial given her young age. The description says "grade level: P and up" and I am guessing this is referring to the

4 leveling systems schools use for books? My daughter is currently around a DRA (or Fountas/Pinnell level K-L) and needs help with the occasional word here and there but for the most part can pick this up and independently read it, which I love and is exactly what I was hoping for. The stories in this are simple yet accurate, not too wordy for children beginning to read like many of the other baby/toddler/children's Bible's on the market. This Bible would be great for just reading to your kids too, and then you'd have it as they transition to reading on their own at some point. Wonderful product; sometimes it can be hard to find developmentally appropriate 'religious' books/products for my child but this really fit the bill. I purchased this for my 5 year old daughter. She loves the bible. She is able to read most of the words and loves the question section at the end of each story. The stories are real short and limited details so it can be written for a young reader. It isn't the best for advancing their knowledge of the bible stories; but is great for them to read on their own. This is a beautiful book. We intend to give it as a gift to my neighbor's child on her birthday. She might not be able to read it now at the age of four, but as she gets a little older, we hope she will read this book by herself. The illustrations are beautiful. This will be a wonderful gift to a child I am very pleased with this book. The aim of the book is to make the stories from the Bible accessible to early readers, but for now, in my family, it is also making it easier for my children to understand when I read to them. I love the questions and exercises at the end of each chapter, as well. The number of stories and amount of content from the Bible is also satisfying. I love this book it tells stories on an appropriate age level and even has follow up questions at the end of each story to help kids relate and understand.
