3 SESSION 1 Gol To see the beuty of the ocens nd the cretures there nd to relise the dmge being done to them by plstic. Mterils Mp of the world or globe if possible Copies of templtes (pictures for colouring t the bck of this booklet) Scissors Thin crdbord or pper Colours/cryons. Glue Bg of clen rubbish including plstic bgs, string, bottles tops etc. Cut some of the plstic items into smll pieces. Opening pryer. Strt the session with n opening pryer. PART 1: God mde the ocens nd ll the cretures in them Where re the ocens? Show the children globe or mp. Get them to point out the ocens. Wht cretures live in the ocens? Let the children shre the nmes of cretures they know. Song He s got the whole world in his hnds (Put in the cretures... He s got the gret big whle in his hnds, He s got the squishy jelly fishy in his hnds. He s got the noisy se gull in his hnds. Etc. ) Icebreker: Mime. Get the children to stick the plstic onto the nimls stomchs, or wrp the string round the cretures necks. Ask the children how the nimls feel. Ask the children how they feel themselves. 7 Discussion Show the children plstic bg. Ask them wht hppens if they drop it on the side of the rod? (The wind tkes it, it ends up in river nd then in the se). Wht cn we do to chnge the mount of plstic produced? Does nyone know wht the 4 Rs re? Refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle. Divide the children into four groups nd they cn ct out scene where they do ech of those things... E.g Refuse: I buy cool drink nd the shopkeeper offers me strw, I sy no thnkyou I don t wnt to hurt the se turtles Reduce: remind my mum to tke the cloth bg to the shops so she doesn t hve to use plstic shopping bg. Re-use: use yogurt pot pinted nicely to keep my pencils in Re-cycle: ct out wht you collect nd where you cn tke it.
