8 Why I Love Moses 1. He was not seeking to lead, but he was willing to step up as a leader. 2. He succeeded as a reluctant leader. 3. He led with strength bathed in humility a true servant leader. 4. He was not perfect! He overcame his weaknesses. 5. He never gave up through the darkest hours of discouragement. 6. He overcame his fickle, reluctant followers. 7. He grew as a person he listened to feedback. Three Acts of Moses Acts 7:20-22/ 23-29/ Act One Man of power (Birth to age forty) Moses was born of Jewish parents during a time of purging; he was saved by his mom and raised as a son of Pharaoh in preparation for his future leadership. Acts 7:20 22 Act Two Man of Weakness (ages forty to eighty) Before he was fit to be of service to God, he had to get his BD Degree. This is what I call the back of the desert degree. Acts 7:

9 Act Three Man of god (ages eighty to one hundred Twenty) It was not until he was eighty that Moses was truly ready to lead. Great summary of his life: Moses, spent his first forty years thinking he was somebody. He spent his second forty years learning he was a nobody. Learn to gripe to the right people Reiben: Hey, so, Captain, what about you? I mean, you don t gripe at all? Miller(Tom Hanks): I don t gripe to you, Reiben. I m a captain. There s a chain of command. Gripes go up, not down. Always up. You gripe to me; I gripe to my superior officer... I don t gripe to you. I don t gripe in front of you. The Prize Different for every one of us v Don t dump on your spouse once you get married find a balance there. v If you are about to throw in the towel, talk to someone! v As leaders be on the lookout for people that need you as a shoulder to cry on, a friend to confide in. The Prize for Me Well done good and faithful servant. I faithfully fulfilled His calling on my life. Marriage that lasted the test of time till death do us part. Children that grew up to follow God. Children that grew up to love their parents. Integrity till the end: I finished well 28
