Is. 62:2 The natins will see yur righteusness, And all kings yur glry; And yu will be called by a new name Which the muth f the LORD will designate. Is. 62:3 Yu will als be a crwn f beauty in the hand f the LORD, And a ryal diadem in the hand f yur Gd. Is. 62:4 It will n lnger be said t yu, Frsaken, Nr t yur land will it any lnger be said, Deslate ; But yu will be called, My delight is in her, And yur land, Married ; Fr the LORD delights in yu, And t Him yur land will be married. Is. 62:5 Fr as a yung man marries a virgin, S yur sns will marry yu; And as the bridegrm rejices ver the bride, S yur Gd will rejice ver yu. Is. 62:6 On yur walls, O Jerusalem, I have appinted watchmen; All day and all night they will never keep silent. Yu wh remind the LORD, take n rest fr yurselves; Is. 62:7 And give Him n rest until He establishes And makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth. Is. 62:8 The LORD has swrn by His right hand and by His strng arm, I will never again give yur grain as fd fr yur enemies; Nr will freigners drink yur new wine fr which yu have labred. 2 Isaiah 62-66! 2 Fr the sake f Zin - meaning fr the kingdm f Israel in the Millennial Smene can t remain silent Until her righteusness and salvatin are established And this persn remains actively speaking r wrking until Israel is in her glry At that time Israel will have a new name N lnger Israel (which means strives with Gd) Instead, she will have a new name that the muth f the Lrd will designate Isaiah desn t give us Israel s new name, but a later prphet des Ezekiel says that Israel s new name will be Yahweh Shammah r The Lrd is there They will be with the Lrd and married t Him as the wife f Jehvah Wh wrks tirelessly until this cmes abut? The rle f the Spirit is t wrk amng men in the absence f the Lrd, t bring men t faith and strengthen them fr the wrk f the Lrd He cntinues t call a remnant f Israel Secndly, in v.6 the Lrd has appinted watchmen n the walls f Jerusalem t cntinually remind Him f His prmises Nt that Gd frgets, but it s a symblic assurance t the natin that Gd will bring abut these prmises These watchmen may be angelic r human agents that Gd has appinted In either case, hw wuld Gd ensure their cnstant vigilance, especially if these were human agents? 4 Isaiah 62-66! 4 S this is Christ leading a grup thrugh gates and alng a highway The grup is called the hly peple, the redeemed f the Lrd And a city nt frsaken Clearly these peple are Israel T see the events clearly, we need t read int chapter 63 Is. 63:1 Wh is this wh cmes frm Edm, With garments f glwing clrs frm Bzrah, This One wh is majestic in His apparel, Marching in the greatness f His strength? It is I wh speak in righteusness, mighty t save. Is. 63:2 Why is Yur apparel red, And Yur garments like the ne wh treads in the wine press? Is. 63:3 I have trdden the wine trugh alne, And frm the peples there was n man with Me. I als trd them in My anger And trampled them in My wrath; And their lifebld is sprinkled n My garments, And I stained all My raiment. Is. 63:4 Fr the day f vengeance was in My heart, And My year f redemptin has cme. Is. 63:5 I lked, and there was n ne t help, And I was astnished and there was n ne t uphld; S My wn arm brught salvatin t Me, And My wrath upheld Me. Is. 63:9 In all their afflictin He was afflicted, And the angel f His presence saved them; In His lve and in His mercy He redeemed them, And He lifted them and carried them all the days f ld. Is. 63:10 But they rebelled And grieved His Hly Spirit; Therefre He turned Himself t becme their enemy, He fught against them. Is. 63:11 Then His peple remembered the days f ld, f Mses. Where is He wh brught them up ut f the sea with the shepherds f His flck? Where is He wh put His Hly Spirit in the midst f them, Is. 63:12 Wh caused His glrius arm t g at the right hand f Mses, Wh divided the waters befre them t make fr Himself an everlasting name, Is. 63:13 Wh led them thrugh the depths? 6 Isaiah 62-66! 6 This passage is a recunting f the Lrd s gdness fr Israel And it prvides the histrical backgrund fr His arrival t save them n this final day The text ges back t the first persn, but this time is seem t be the Jews f thse days declaring Gd s gdness in recgnitin f Him They declare Gd s gdness accrding t all that the Lrd has granted them Which He granted based n lvingkindness, cvenantal language In v.9 we hear that in their afflictins f bndage in Israel, the Lrd felt their bndage And in the angel f His presence, He saved them This cnfirms that the Lrd was the One in the OT described as the Angle f the Lrd He lved them and redeemed them ut f Egypt After Israel grieved the Hly Spirit (ntice hw ften the HS is named in this sectin f Secnd Isaiah) S Gd became their enemy fr a time And during that time, He was silent with the natin as we learned in Isaiah last week Then the Jews began asking ver the curse f histry where was the Gd WH did all these things f their past? Parting the sea, placing the HS in their midst, etc.? Finally, these Jews f the Tribulatin remnant cme t the recgnitin that all their misery and Gd s silence as been the result f Israel s disbedience And they credit the Spirit (again) fr the Lrd leading His peple and giving them rest in the end Is. 63:15 Lk dwn frm heaven and see frm Yur hly and glrius habitatin; Where are Yur zeal and Yur mighty deeds? 7 Isaiah 62-66! 7 Is. 63:16 Fr Yu are ur Father, thugh Abraham des nt knw us And Israel des nt recgnize us. Yu, O LORD, are ur Father, Our Redeemer frm f ld is Yur name. Is. 63:17 Why, O LORD, d Yu cause us t stray frm Yur ways And harden ur heart frm fearing Yu? Return fr the sake f Yur servants, the tribes f Yur heritage. Is. 63:18 Yur hly peple pssessed Yur sanctuary fr a little while, Our adversaries have trdden it dwn. Is. 63:19 We have becme like thse ver whm Yu have never ruled, Like thse wh were nt called by Yur name. Nw that same remnant f Israel wh has seen their redeemer visit Btsrah and have received the utpuring f the Hly Spirit, call n the name f the Lrd Lk dwn frm heaven... Is. 64:3 When Yu did awesme things which we did nt expect, Yu came dwn, the muntains quaked at Yur presence. Is. 64:4 Fr frm days f ld they have nt heard r perceived by ear, Nr has the eye seen a Gd besides Yu, Wh acts in behalf f the ne wh waits fr Him. Is. 64:5 Yu meet him wh rejices in ding righteusness, Wh remembers Yu in Yur ways. Behld, Yu were angry, fr we sinned, We cntinued in them a lng time; And shall we be saved? Is. 64:6 Fr all f us have becme like ne wh is unclean, And all ur righteus deeds are like a filthy garment; And all f us wither like a leaf, And ur iniquities, like the wind, take us away. Is. 64:7 There is n ne wh calls n Yur name, Wh aruses himself t take hld f Yu; Fr Yu have hidden Yur face frm us And have delivered us int the pwer f ur iniquities. Is. 64:8 But nw, O LORD, Yu are ur Father, We are the clay, and Yu ur ptter; And all f us are the wrk f Yur hand. Is. 64:9 D nt be angry beynd measure, O LORD, Nr remember iniquity frever; Behld, lk nw, all f us are Yur peple. Is. 64:10 Yur hly cities have becme a wilderness, Zin has becme a wilderness, Jerusalem a deslatin. Is. 64:11 Our hly and beautiful huse, Where ur fathers praised Yu, Has been burned by fire; And all ur precius things have becme a ruin. Is. 64:12 Will Yu restrain Yurself at these things, O LORD? Will Yu keep silent and afflict us beynd measure? 9 Isaiah 62-66! 9 And the rest f the chapter is a cnfessin f Israel f their sin In respnse t this cnfessin, we nw see these tw beautiful chapters revealing Gd s dispensatin f grace t Israel, and specifically t the remnant Is. 65:1 I permitted Myself t be sught by thse wh did nt ask fr Me; I permitted Myself t be fund by thse wh did nt seek Me. I said, Here am I, here am I, T a natin which did nt call n My name. Is. 65:2 I have spread ut My hands all day lng t a rebellius peple, Wh walk in the way which is nt gd, fllwing their wn thughts, Is. 65:3 A peple wh cntinually prvke Me t My face, Offering sacrifices in gardens and burning incense n bricks; Is. 65:4 Wh sit amng graves and spend the night in secret places; Wh eat swine s flesh, And the brth f unclean meat is in their pts. Is. 65:5 Wh say, Keep t yurself, d nt cme near me, Fr I am hlier than yu! These are smke in My nstrils, A fire that burns all the day. Is. 65:6 Behld, it is written befre Me, I will nt keep silent, but I will repay; I will even repay int their bsm, Is. 65:7 Bth their wn iniquities and the iniquities f their fathers tgether, says the LORD. Because they have burned incense n the muntains And scrned Me n the hills, Therefre I will measure their frmer wrk int their bsm. 10 Isaiah 62-66! 10 Is. 65:9 I will bring frth ffspring frm Jacb, And an heir f My muntains frm Judah; Even My chsen nes shall inherit it, And My servants will dwell there. Is. 65:10 Sharn will be a pasture land fr flcks, And the valley f Achr a resting place fr herds, Fr My peple wh seek Me. Is. 65:11 But yu wh frsake the LORD, Wh frget My hly muntain, Wh set a table fr Frtune, And wh fill cups with mixed wine fr Destiny, Is. 65:12 I will destine yu fr the swrd, And all f yu will bw dwn t the slaughter. Because I called, but yu did nt answer; I spke, but yu did nt hear. And yu did evil in My sight And chse that in which I did nt delight. Is. 65:13 Therefre, thus says the Lrd GOD, Behld, My servants will eat, but yu will be hungry. Behld, My servants will drink, but yu will be thirsty. Behld, My servants will rejice, but yu will be put t shame. Is. 65:14 Behld, My servants will shut jyfully with a glad heart, But yu will cry ut with a heavy heart, And yu will wail with a brken spirit. Is. 65:15 Yu will leave yur name fr a curse t My chsen nes, And the Lrd GOD will slay yu. But My servants will be called by anther name. Is. 65:16 Because he wh is blessed in the earth Will be blessed by the Gd f truth; And he wh swears in the earth Will swear by the Gd f truth; Because the frmer trubles are frgtten, And because they are hidden frm My sight! 11 Isaiah 62-66! 11 In a cluster f grapes, yu dn t thrugh away the entire cluster simply because sme grapes are bad Yu can make new wine with the gd grapes Likewise Gd is prepared t preserve the natin f Israel fr the sake f the remnant In v.11 Isaiah names tw ccult gds that Israel wrshipped at ne pint Frtune and Destiny Then in typical fashin, Isaiah makes a play n the Hebrew wrds t shame the natin In v.12, Gd says thugh yu called upn the name f Destiny, I will destine yu fr the swrd Then in vs.13-16, Gd speaks specifically f hw these tw grups will see different utcmes in Tribulatin The remnant f Tribulatin is held in safety during that time, eating, drinking and rejicing While the rest f the unfaithful Israel will suffer Is. 65:17 Fr behld, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the frmer things will nt be remembered r cme t mind. Is. 65:18 But be glad and rejice frever in what I create; Fr behld, I create Jerusalem fr rejicing And her peple fr gladness. Is. 65:19 I will als rejice in Jerusalem and be glad in My peple; And there will n lnger be heard in her The vice f weeping and the sund f crying. Is. 65:20 N lnger will there be in it an infant wh lives but a few days, Or an ld man wh des nt live ut his days; Fr the yuth will die at the age f ne hundred And the ne wh des nt reach the age f ne hundred Will be thught accursed. Is. 65:21 They will build huses and inhabit them; They will als plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 12 Isaiah 62-66! 12 Is. 65:23 They will nt labr in vain, Or bear children fr calamity; Fr they are the ffspring f thse blessed by the LORD, And their descendants with them. Is. 65:24 It will als cme t pass that befre they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear. Is. 65:25 The wlf and the lamb will graze tgether, and the lin will eat straw like the x; and dust will be the serpent s fd. They will d n evil r harm in all My hly muntain, says the LORD. A descriptin f the reward fr the remnant...the kingdm Ntice the interesting descriptins f that day A new heavens and earth here refers t the renewed earth f the Millennial kingdm, nt the Eternal Order described in Rev 21 & 22, which fllws this kingdm We knw they are nt the same, because in this time Isaiah describes death, which isn t a part f the Eternal Order Nw this text raises an interesting issue, ne that tuches n smething we studied last week as well These verses describe life during the kingdm time In v.20 the nature f life and death during this time is explained Remember that there are natural men and wmen in the kingdm Natural is the term Paul uses in 1Cr 15 t describe the kind f bdy we received when we were brn the first time n Earth Paul cntrasts this with the heavenly r imperishable bdies we will receive upn ur resurrectin at the Rapture Jesus tells us in Matt 22:30 that we will nt marry in this new bdy, which implies strngly that we will nt have need fr reprductin either Since marriage is the institutin Gd established t prvide fr the creating and raising f children S the kingdm perid is marked by a mixing f heavenly resurrected bdies that wn t marry r reprduce 2010 Verse By Verse Ministry f San Antni ( May be cpied and distributed prvided the dcument is reprduced in its entirety, including this cpyright statement, and n fee is cllected fr its distributin.

13 Isaiah 62-66! 13 Cmbined with natural bdies f thse wh enter the Kingdm fllwing Tribulatin and are able t marry and reprduce Mre imprtantly, a natural bdy is still a sinful bdy, s the children prduced by such a bdy will als be sinful And all the same spiritual truths fr natural men wuld apply, including the inability t knw and trust in the Lrd apart frm Gd s grace Let s lk at what Isaiah says here, and then we ll cmpare it t what we ve studied earlier First, he says that this is a time f rejicing and a time when frmer things are nt remembered A new time which we knw is the Millennial kingdm Then Isaiah speaks in Hebrew petry in v.20 t describe the length f life fr thse living in the kingdm in natural bdies Infants will nt live but a few days S infant mrtality is eliminated And ld men live ut their days in the Kingdm S there is n death frm ld age either S n ne is dying yung r ld But then Isaiah says the yuth f that day die at 100 S it seems t set a minimum age fr death The earliest smene can die is 100 years ld But then next is a difficult ne t translate and interpret The NASB gets it wrng I think A better translatin I believe is fund in the Duay translatin r the Darby translatin Is. 65:20 There shall n mre be an infant f days there, nr an ld man that shall nt fill up his days: fr the child shall die a hundred years ld, and the sinner being a hundred years ld shall be accursed Verse By Verse Ministry f San Antni ( May be cpied and distributed prvided the dcument is reprduced in its entirety, including this cpyright statement, and n fee is cllected fr its distributin.

14 Isaiah 62-66! 14 Putting it tgether, the text seems t suggest that the ne hundredth year f life in the kingdm is a milestne fr every natural persn They wn t die befre that time, but at their 100 th birthday they are brught t death if they haven t cme t knw the Lrd If they are a sinner at that pint, they are accursed, which means judged eternally A sinner in OT Scripture is ne withut the frgiveness f sin thrugh faith in the Messiah S this fact means that believers, bth heavenly and natural, are living the entire length f the Kingdm But unbelievers wh are brn during this time are dying at 100 It wuld be interesting t ask urselves why this pattern wuldn t be enugh by itself t cnvince everyne t believe in Christ and save themselves Or fr that matter, why the very presence f Christ n the Earth isn t enugh But then again, if His presence in the first cming wasn t sufficient, then we shuldn t expect His presence again t arrive at anything mre The simple answer is that the natural man is incapable f understanding spiritual 1Cr. 2:14 But a natural man des nt accept the things f the Spirit f Gd, fr they are flishness t him; and he cannt understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. One questin this passage raises is wh are the natural men f the Millennial Kingdm? Is. 25:7 And n this muntain He will swallw up the cvering which is ver all peples, Even the veil which is stretched ver all natins. Is. 25:8 He will swallw up death fr all time, And the Lrd GOD will wipe tears away frm all faces, And He will remve the reprach f His peple frm all the earth; Fr the LORD has spken. Is. 25:9 And it will be said in that day, Behld, this is ur Gd fr whm we have waited that He might save us. This is the LORD fr whm we have waited; Let us rejice and be glad in His salvatin.
