3 The Beatitudes What does beatitude mean? The word beatitude comes from the Latin word beatus, meaning "blessed" or "happy". What does beatitude mean? Directions: Cut out booklet. Write on lined portion of booklet. Fold on dotted lines so the flaps cover your writing. Glue into lapbook.

4 What does blessed mean? Happy; prosperous in worldly affairs; enjoying spiritual happiness and the favor of God. Made happy or prosperous; extolled; pronounced happy. What does blessed mean? Directions: Cut out booklet, fold in half, write inside and glue into lapbook.

5 Matthew 5:1-2 And seeing the multitudes (of people), he (Jesus) went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying. 9 What is mercy? Having or exercising mercy; compassionate; tender; disposed to pity offenders and to forgive their offenses; unwilling to punish for injuries. What is mercy? Matthew 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my (Jesus') sake. Name three times you are blessed in Matthew 5:11 for Jesus' sake. For above booklet. Write one item on each octagon. Cut out each octagon. Stack with cover on top and staple. Glue into lapbook.

12 Matthew 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Write Matthew 5:12 Directions: Write Matthew 5:12 on lined portion of booklet. Cut out booklet. Fold flaps towards the middle so they cover your writing. Next, take a hole punch and punch a hole in each star. Next, tie a piece of ribbon or string through each hole. Lastly, close flaps and tie flaps together and glue into lapbook.
