Last year we decided as a family to celebrate Easter just a little differently. Instead of searching for Easter eggs in the traditional egg hunt, we gave the children a scripture filled treasure hunt. We hid scriptures around the house and garden, with the scripture and the picture on it being the clue for where to search next. For instance, the scripture where Jesus is nailed to the cross has a picture of hammer and nails. Therefore, we placed the next clue next to daddy s hammer. Right at the end we hid a treasure for each child. You could hide eggs, a bible, a Bible story book, or anything else that would be meaningful to your family. Following are our original cards, as well as blank scripture cards. You could take a photograph of where you want to hide the clue, and add it to the blank cards, to make it easier for younger children. A few tips. 1. Read the cards to younger children. 2. Use the blank scripture cards, or the ones with graphics, and only if they cannot figure out the clue, show them the photograph. 3. Especially for younger children, keep it short and sweet. 4. Enjoy yourselves! You are free to modify these ideas and scripture cards for your own families use. God bless you richly as you seek to celebrate the reason we live - JESUS! 3 Mat 21:1-11 And when they drew near to Jerusalem and came into Bethphage, toward the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find an ass tied, and a colt with her. Loosening, lead them to Me. And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, The Lord has need of them. And he will send them at once. But all this happened that might be fulfilled that spoken by the prophet, saying: "Tell the daughter of Zion, Behold, your King comes to you, meek and mounted on an ass, even a colt, the son of an ass." And the disciples, having gone and having done as Jesus ordered them, they led the ass and the colt. And they put on them their garments, and set Him on them. And the very great crowd strewed their garments in the road. And others were cutting branches from the trees and were spreading them in the way. And the crowd, the ones going before and the ones following, were crying out, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David! "Blessed is He coming in the name of the Lord"! Hosanna in the highest! And as He entered into Jerusalem, all the city was shaken, saying, Who is this? And the crowds said, This is Jesus, the Prophet, the One from Nazareth of Galilee. Joh 12:2-8 Then they made Him a supper there, and Martha served. But Lazarus was one of those reclining with Him. Then taking a pound of ointment of pure, costly spikenard, Mary anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped off His feet with her hairs. And the house was filled with the odor of the ointment. Then Simon's son, one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was about to betray Him, said, Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor? But he said this, not that he was caring for the poor, but that he was a thief and held the moneybag and carried away the things being put in. Then Jesus said, Allow her, for she has kept it for the day of My burial. For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me. 2

Mat 26:17-19 And on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, Where do you desire we should prepare for You to eat the Passover? And He said, Go into the city to a certain one and say to him, The Teacher says, My time is near; toward you I will prepare the Passover with My disciples. And the disciples did as Jesus ordered them, and prepared the Passover. Mat 26:14 Then one of the twelve going to the chief priests, the one called Judas Iscariot, said, What will you give to me, and I will deliver Him up to you? "And they weighed to him thirty silver pieces." And from then he sought opportunity that he might betray Him. 3 4

Joh 19:16-17 Therefore, then, he delivered Him up to them, that He might be crucified. And they took Jesus and led Him away. And He went out bearing His cross, to the place called Of a Skull (which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha), where they crucified Him, and two others with Him, on this side and on that side, and Jesus in the middle. Joh 19:2-3 And having plaited a wreath out of thorns, the soldiers put it on His head. And they threw a purple mantle around Him, and said, Hail, King of the Jews! And they gave Him blows with the palm 5 6

Mar 15:19 And they struck His head with a reed, and spat at Him. And placing the knees, they bowed to Him. Joh 19:23-24 Then when they crucified Jesus, the soldiers took His garments and made four parts, a part to each soldier, also the tunic. And the tunic was seamless, woven from the top throughout. Then they said to one another, Let us not tear it, but let us cast lots about it, whose it will be (that the Scripture might be fulfilled which said, "They divided My garments among them," and "they threw a lot for My garment." Then indeed the soldiers did these things. 7 8

Luk 23:33-34 And when they came on the place being called Skull, they crucified Him and the criminals there, one on the right, and one on the left. And Jesus said, Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. Mat 27:34 they gave Him vinegar mingled with gall to drink. And having tasted, He would not drink. 9 10

Joh 19:40 Then they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linens, with the spices, as is usual with the Jews in burying. Luk 24:1-7 And the first of the sabbaths, while still very early, they came on the tomb, carrying spices which they prepared; and some were with them. And they found the stone having been rolled away from the tomb. And going in, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened, as they were perplexed about this, even behold, two men in shining clothing stood by them. And they becoming terrified, and bowing their faces to the earth, they said to them, Why do you seek the living with the dead? He is not here, but was raised. Remember how He spoke to you, yet being in Galilee, saying, The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and to be crucified, and the third day to rise again
