The disciples thought that a leader is someone who is served by others. Jesus wanted them to understand that in God s kingdom it is just the opposite! A real leader serves and takes care of his followers, just like Jesus did! In God s eyes, no one person is more important than any other. To Him everyone is special and the best way to be a good sample of His love is to serve our friends and neighbors. When we show consideration and appreciation throughout the day, it really makes God smile! Read about it in your Bible, in John 13:

5 Thank You Thank You in Many Languages Do you remember to say thank you when someone does something nice for you? There are many ways of saying thank you. You could send a card or give a gift. But the easiest and one of the most appreciated ways is to give a smile. A smile and a word of thanks make others very happy! Showing appreciation and respect for others is a very nice way to say thank you. Here is how children say thank you in other parts of the world. Color the letters and learn a new way to say thank you. Thank You English; Gracias- Spanish; Arigato - Japanese; Merci- French; Obrigado- Portuguese 5

6 Picture Frame Glue a photograph of yourself in the middle of the frame. Or if you don t have one, draw a picture of yourself. Color the frame. Glue a photo of yourself in here. serves God by serving others. 6

7 Showing Kindness Draw a line to the pictures that make a match, showing different ways we can be kind to others. Think about it: Who can you show kindness to? How can you show kindness to them? Is there anyone you know who needs appreciation? 7

Just sing along with the Do Unto Others song! Do Unto Others Jesus says, do unto others as You would have them do to you.

8 Do Unto Others Jesus said: Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. (Matthew 7:12) A Golden Ruler is someone who tries to live by the Golden Rule every day. YOU can be a Golden Ruler! Just sing along with the Do Unto Others song! Do Unto Others Jesus says, do unto others as You would have them do to you. Show kindness to your neighbors by All you say and do! Don t hesitate, Or wait another day. Show respect To all who come your way. Jesus says: treat others in the way, You want them to treat you. 11 Jesus' Sample Jesus is very caring! He wants us to follow his example by being kind, respectful and courteous to others. One way to do this is by thanking those that take care of us, our community and our surroundings. Parents, teachers, doctors, street sweepers, waiters and waitresses, janitors, gardeners, drivers, cashiers and many others, all need our thanks! Can you think of other people that work hard for all of us? I know someone else! GOD! It s important to thank God and He likes to hear our appreciation. God serves you and me every day by providing us with things like sunshine, rain, food, friends and many other things! Stop for a moment, think about God and thank Him in your own words! 11
