Feasts (appointed times) a prophetic calendar, given to Israel to remind them what God has done in the past, and would do, in the future. They were given as an eternal ordinance. Each appointed time (Hebrew mo ed) has been or will be fulfilled in complete precision.

7 7 th month, first day = Tishri 1 (after God made month of Nisan first month. Formerly Tishri was first.) A new moon (rosh chodesh, head of the month ) A Sabbath (a day of rest, no customary work) Trumpets were to be blown (but no specific times, patterns, places) Offerings were to be given An assembly of the people required

8 God commanded only 3 things for this day: 1) It is a Sabbath rest (no work), 2) Blow the trumpets, and 3) Make certain burnt offerings Most mysterious of 7 feasts (appointed times), very little said about this day, Jews have constructed their own traditions and reasons, most of which have little or nothing to do with what God said. Main reason [they give] for this day is call to repentance [begins Ten Days of Awe between Yom Teruah (Trumpets) and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement)], and a reminder of the covenant relationship with God. These are good things, but not scriptural.

9 Unlike the other appointed times/celebrations, no reason given for this blowing of trumpets. As usual, whenever we can t find explanations for something, we make them up, precisely what Jews have done. Over years rabbis have created about 10 reasons for the blowing, none of which are biblical. Those who study prophecy believe God has us celebrating something in advance. Something that is still a bit of an unknown for us on this side of history, just as the first four feasts were 2,000 years ago.

10 Trumpets in the new testament: Resurrection of the dead Catching away of the Church Proclamation of the gospel Second coming of Messiah Trumpet judgments in Revelation Yom Teruah is the only feast that falls at the beginning of the month and thus coincides with a celebration of the New Moon. Yom Teruah marks the beginning of a new year, a new month, and the Fall Feasts.

11 By tradition, ram s horn is blown a certain way on Yom Teruah (Rosh HaShanah). There are a total of 100 blasts in 4 categories: 1) Tekiah - a long, single blast. Plain smooth continuous note, supposedly to symbolize the expression of joy. 2) Shevarim - three short blasts, a combination of three broken notes to symbolize weeping. 3) Teruah - extremely short quick blasts of nine staccato notes. Symbolizes sorrow. 4) Tekiah Gedolah - means the last trump.

12 Tekiah Gedolah - means the last trump. This may have significance for understanding 1 Thessalonians 4:16, which relates to the catching up of believers. This last long note is said to symbolize hope and redemption. This is a very long final note (blower holds as long as possible). All are combined for a total of 99 notes, followed by final 100 th note (the long blast).

13 Most popular thoughts are two-fold. 1. This feast will begin the catching up of the Church, at the trumpet call. 2. This appointed time will be the call to Israel to come to her Messiah, as is foretold in Zechariah 12 and 13. Some people believe the catching away of believers will be on this feast day, and others believe it will occur on the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost in Greek, Shavuot in Hebrew), since the Church was born on this date with the coming of the Holy Spirit.

14 Traditionally in scripture the trumpet has been used to call Israel to assembly for many reasons, so it is believed that this date will be some sort of turning point in Israel s history, back to God, and back to her Messiah, Yeshua for salvation. Either way, we know that all the Feasts have literal fulfillment, and act as God s prophetic calendar, so we do know that whatever the literal fulfillment of Yom Teruah, it will be a major event in the end times.

16 At some point in the future, those still remaining on earth at the time God chooses to fulfill this appointed time, will know for certain. Until then, we can only speculate, and know that He has a plan, and this day is reserved for some special end time event associated with the second coming of Jesus.

18 Revelation 15 Last Set of Judgments Ready Interlude of Praise: Song of Moses The Temple in Heaven

19 1 Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous: seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them the wrath of God is complete. 2 And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God. 3 They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints! 4 Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, For Your judgments have been manifested.

20 5 After these things I looked, and behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened. 6 And out of the temple came the seven angels having the seven plagues, clothed in pure bright linen, and having their chests girded with golden bands. 7 Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God who lives forever and ever. 8 The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power, and no one was able to enter the temple till the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.

21 5 After these things I looked, and behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened.

22 Very sudden mood and scene change. Shift occurring here, as last judgments are prepared to be poured out. No one can stand against, or defy, the law of God, or His will. His wrath will continue as prophesied, until it is complete. Note again behold. Means to listen up, pay attention, because something big is coming....the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven... First of all, this temple is the one in heaven. It is not the earthly tabernacle/temple.

23 Secondly, word for temple here is naos, not the word for the overall temple, but word for the most sacred place, the Most Holy Place (Holy of Holies). The tabernacle of the testimony is a phrase for the Ark of the Covenant (it literally means the dwelling place of the witness ). Temple is mentioned 15 times in Revelation, but only after chapter 4. The one on earth is only a replica of the one in heaven (see Exodus 25:40; Hebrews 9:23).

24 Tabernacle originally built under Moses leadership, seems natural to see temple mentioned here after singing Song of Moses. But this is not the tabernacle on earth; not temple built by Solomon, Ezra, Herod, or any human hands. This is the heavenly tabernacle, but notice it only refers to inner place, the Most Holy Place, not entire tabernacle. No outer courts or chambers to get through to the presence of God here. No veil of separation. We see only place of God s presence, the Ark inside the Most Holy Place. God dwelled between the cherubim, on the atonement cover, the MERCY SEAT.

25 6 And out of the temple came the seven angels having the seven plagues, clothed in pure bright linen, and having their chests girded with golden bands.

26 And now, coming from the Most Holy Place (very Presence of God) come seven angels bearing last seven plagues (literally, calamities). Clothing mentioned, pure bright linen, with golden bands across their chests. Perhaps indicates royal service to God. Brightness reflects the glory of God. Some believe these angels are angels of the Presence, those who spend eternity in the presence of God. These are commonly referenced in pseudopigraphal writings, even with names, but not found in accepted Canon. Tradition and extra-biblical writings may or may not be true. We are just told seven angels, coming from the Temple, the place of God s Presence.

27 The Angel of His presence is mentioned in Isaiah 63:9 In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the Angel of His Presence saved them; In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; And He bore them and carried them All the days of old. Most believe, however, this is term for God Himself, not a created being. Many think this Angel of His Presence (literally messenger of His Presence) is Messiah Himself. These angels and their associated plagues are authorized by God Himself. We know that even in wrath, God is holy.

28 Many attempt to symbolize these plagues. But this is a mistake. Must understand these are literal. We cannot attempt to make them less than real, literal catastrophes that will befall earth. We don t attempt to reduce the plagues of Egypt to symbols. We interpret those as real. These are also real.

29 7 Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God who lives forever and ever.

30 The four living creatures seem to be integrally involved in the dispensing of God s wrath. Chapter 6 one of the living creatures gave the command to Go! to each of the horses of the first 4 seal judgments. May be appropriate, as living creatures may be understood as representing God s creation, all of it. These judgments are given against the creation, corrupted since the Fall.

31 All of the creation is under God s authority and does His bidding. Egypt worshipped nature, the creation, rather than the creator, so Elohim used gods of Egypt against them. Same is true here. Man today also worships the creation, and himself, and God will use it against him. Everything that mankind looks to for their security will crumble before their eyes. God is the only rock of security and salvation. As the song says all else is sinking sand.

32 The golden bowls are also translated as vials from the word in Greek phiale. A broad, flat bowl, similar to those used to carry the incense. Instead of incense, however, now these bowls carry wrath. Because of this statement regarding bowls carrying the wrath of God, many believe Paul s statements in 1 Thessalonians would indicate believers are not subject to the bowl judgments, or are removed prior to this time.

33 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come. (1 Thessalonians 1:10) But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10) DEBATE: Is the wrath in these verses God s wrath in the Tribulation judgments, or is it His wrath against unbelievers who are eventually separated eternally from Him?

34 8 The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power, and no one was able to enter the temple till the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.

35 Altar of incense placed directly before the veil and entry to the Most Holy Place (Holy of Holies). Purpose, to fill the tabernacle with smoke so view of God s seat of mercy was obscured, and priests would not die in His presence.

36 Smoke also represents the glory of God. In Exodus 19 (note the similarities in this book to the story in Exodus!) smoke surrounded the mountain of God, where He spoke to Moses. Smoke acted to obscure the glory of God so man did not die when looking at Him.

37 Should also remind us of beautiful picture of Isaiah 6, when Isaiah had a vision of the temple,... I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory! And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. (6:1-4) This scene should sound very familiar to us, witnessed same thing in Revelation chapters 4 and 5. God s Word is perfectly consistent.

38 Temple is associated with Law and judgment in Revelation. Law demands totally righteous behavior. Our inability to meet requirements of the Law is covered only by the blood of Jesus. If we abide under that covering, we are immune from judgment. If not, we are under the curse of the Law.

39 In New Jerusalem, the Temple does not exist because the old order of things (the Law and its requirements) is gone. On earth, the Temple was God s dwelling place with man. In New Jerusalem God and the Lamb (Jesus) are the temple (chapter 21) and make their dwelling place WITH man.

40 ...no one was able to enter the temple till the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed. God s dwelling place is holy, and now in the final execution of His wrath, no one can enter the Temple. This is God s work alone, not man s, not the enemy s. It is wrath, but it is holy wrath. Mankind has no part in the price God paid for His redeemed, or His wrath on the unrepentant. God is alone in His payment for the sins of mankind, and He is alone in the delivering of His holy wrath for sin. He is ALONE in His power and plan. There is no one else. HE IS SOVEREIGN.

41 God is alone in His provision of salvation, and alone in His judgment and wrath. Very reminiscent of amazing prophecy in Isaiah 63: Who is this who comes from Edom, With dyed garments from Bozrah, This One who is glorious in His apparel, Traveling in the greatness of His strength? I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save. 2 Why is Your apparel red, And Your garments like one who treads in the winepress? 3 I have trodden the winepress alone, And from the peoples no one was with Me. For I have trodden them in My anger, And trampled them in My fury; Their blood is sprinkled upon My garments, And I have stained all My robes.

42 4 For the day of vengeance is in My heart, And the year of My redeemed has come. 5 I looked, but there was no one to help, And I wondered That there was no one to uphold; Therefore My own arm brought salvation for Me; And My own fury, it sustained Me. 6 I have trodden down the peoples in My anger, Made them drunk in My fury, And brought down their strength to the earth. (Isaiah 63:1-6)

43 This should also remind us of the Shema Sh'ma Yisrael YHWH Eloheinu YHWH Echad Hear, O Israel: Yahweh is our God, Yahweh is One. This is also correctly translated as, Yahweh is ALONE. There is no one above Him, or beside Him. He Is SOVEREIGN!

44 Seven = perfectly complete. God s holy wrath is complete with the pouring out of these final seven plagues. Some say the 7 SEALS REVEAL God s wrath, the 7 TRUMPETS ANNOUNCE God s wrath, the 7 BOWLS EXECUTE God s wrath. However, judgments found in all three sets. The 7 seals were on a ¼ part of the earth. The 7 trumpets are on 1/3 of the remaining, and the 7 bowls are poured out on ALL of the earth. But the climax is still to come.

45 THE INTERLUDE BEFORE THE FINAL JUDGMENTS IS NOW OVER. THE 7 PLAGUES WILL BE POURED OUT NEXT.

46 Seven Bowl Judgments 1 Sores on those who take the mark 2 Seas turn to blood 3 Rivers turn to blood 4 Sun scorches men For in them the wrath of God is complete. (Revelation 15:1) 5 Darkness on beast s throne, pain 6 Euphrates dried up 7 Earthquake, killer hail IT IS DONE!
