2 Class Name: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego LESSON: 1. The teacher begins with greeting our young heroes. 2. Teacher reviews other young heroes of the bible with the students. Example: Daniel and Samuel 3. Next introduce the 3 Hebrew children that were friends of Daniel. (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego) 4. Use the flannel graph to dramatize the story for the children. 5. While using the flannel graph, read the Bible scripture that coordinates with each scene. o Scene 1: Daniel 3:1-7 o Scene 2: Daniel 3:8-23 and Daniel 3:16-19 o Scene 3: Daniel 3:20-28 and Daniel 3: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were heroes because they took God at His Word! 7. Play quote from And there was a fourth Man standing in there, with a key that unlocked the heat from the fire, and it could not do nothing but set them free. Amen. 8. They went with the popular thought of the day, that they must do it. 41 And when they were tested, whether they would worship images and break the Word of God, they stayed true to the Word. Regardless of the circumstances, they stayed true to the Word. And when they throwed them into the fiery furnace, God s promise was fulfilled. They possessed the gates of their enemy. 4 Scriptures 16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. 17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. 19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. Daniel 3: Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? 10 Fiery Furnace TUTORIAL Prep-work done for Creations class ages 4-6: Cut out little people Cut out Jesus picture Cut out names for the sticks Cut out flames Cut oval hole in the paper bag Cut out quote MATERIALS NEEDED Brown paper bag Four popsicle sticks 3 people (print off) Print off 6 flames (print off) Step 1 Stencil Crayons Glue Name (print off) Scissors Pencil Ruler 10

11 Steps: 1. Trace oval stencil print off 2. Cut a hole about 2 inches up from the opening of the bag. (The opening to the bag will be the bottom of your project.) 3. Cut out the three people from the print off. 4. Color the people. 5. Cut out six flames from the print off. 6. Color the flames. 7. Cut out the names Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, and Jesus from the print offs. 8. Glue names on the bottom of the popsicle sticks so that there is a little space at the top. 9. Glue your three people on the tops of the popsicle sticks. 10. Glue three of your flames on the back side of your paper bag, under the bottom flap of the bag. So that when you open it, you can see the flames from the front. 11. Glue your other three flames on the inside on the bottom of the hole, so that from the outside front you can see the flames rising up from inside the bag. 12. Cut out your quote. 13. Glue your quote on the front-top of the bag. You re finished! 11
