1 Introduction to His Sacred Name Yehovah! A few years ago we were brought into the understanding that behind the English word the LORD was the Hebrew word Yahweh. And without a doubt, we all went through a time of transition with that new information. It was at that time that I began a folder in my word processing program called, NAME. My intention was to do a study at some point on His holy and sacred name. Through the years I simply collected information as I came across anything that applied to what I wanted to eventually put into the written study on this topic. In late 2012, I was listening to a study by Keith Johnson. In this teaching he kept referring to Yahweh as Yehovah. I wondered why he was doing that because I felt sure that I have heard him teach before without consistently referring to our Creator as Yehovah. After the teaching was finished I went on my own little venture with the Scriptures, a transliteration of the Old Testament, and the Strong s Concordance in front of me. 1 I found that the LORD is translated from the Hebrew tetragrammaton, äåäé = Yud-Heh-Vav-Heh = YHVH = Yehovah! Profoundly, through that endeavor, I found that never, NEVER, is the word Yahweh found in the original Hebrew text. So because of this newfound information, it is imperative that this study be put together at this time. Unlike the written Revelation study, which has taken over 15-years to complete, this study has been completed in less than two weeks of time! Mainly because Keith Johnson, who also heard the call to diligently inquire concerning His holy and sacred name, has recorded an excellent teaching on DVD concerning this subject. At the end of sharing what has been gathered, a link to Keith Johnson s teaching will be given, because I am sure that most will want to further their understanding of this profound and wondrous truth. On the following pages is the collection of information which had been found along the way and kept safely in that folder called, NAME. I feel that the collection of information that has been saved through the past few years is much too valuable to discard. My hope is that your life will be blessed by this study. Prayerfully read it. And once you know what to look for, compare it with scripture. In the original Hebrew text of the Old Testament, His name is written out 6,828 times! That alone makes it worthy of our time to investigate what has been left out in the translations of our Bibles His sacred name! 1 The four Hebrew letters usually transliterated YHWH or JHVH that form a biblical proper name of God. 1

2 His Sacred Name - (äåäé) YHVH When comparing our English texts to the transliteration of the Old Testament, whenever the LORD is written, this is what we see: the LORD Strong s Concordance referenc e # 3068 Yahweh This is what is transcribed in our English texts This is what the transliteration consistently transcribes from the tetragrammaton, äåäé. When the tetragrammaton is written out in English lettering, it would be YHVH. The transliteration of the Old Testament consistently refers to (äåäé) YHVH as Yahweh; although Yahweh cannot be found anywhere in the original Hebrew text. Listed below is the definition base of #3068 and its associated references from Strong s Concordance: OT:3068 ho*hy= Yehovah' (yeh-ho-vaw'); from OT:1961;(the) self-existent or Eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God: OT:1961 hy*h*= hayah (haw-yaw); a primitive root [compare OT:1933]; to exist, i.e. be or become. OT:1933 aw*h*= hava' (haw-vaw'); or havah (haw-vaw'); a primitive root [compare OT:1961] supposed to mean properly, to breathe; to be (in the sense of existence). In the Complete Jewish Bible (CJB), it translates the LORD to Adonai in its version. Its transliteration, from Hebrew to English, uses the same reference, #3068, in Strong s Concordance, as used for the LORD in other English transcribed versions. Example: Isa 42:8 I am Adonai; that is my name... CJB Adonai (the LORD) 3068 Yahweh Most instances in the Old Testament, when Yah is used in the original text, the LORD is written. Its reference is Strong s Concordance #3050: the LORD 3050 Yahweh OT:3050 Hy* Yahh (yaw); contraction for OT:3068, and meaning the same; the sacred name. 2

3 Now we have reached the heart of defining (äåäé) YHVH by Strong s #3068/3050 definitions: Yehovah, His Sacred Name! The words: God the LORD LORD God and Adonai Are All Titles, Not Names! Nothing at all is wrong with these titles, but none of these are His proper name! He has a NAME! A sacred name given to us 6,828 times! This name is being taught to us. Let us learn together! Yehovah s Hebrew Lesson in the I AM WHO I AM Scripture Ex 3:14 And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM and WHAT I AM, and I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE; and He said, You shall say this to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you! AMP The I AM represents all the forms of the Hebrew verb that means to be. The tetragrammaton of His sacred name (äåäé) YHVH, is a composite of the English usage of three tenses; the past - present - and future tense of the verb, to be : hy*h*= hayah to be past hayah was (past) ho*hy=yehovah to be present hoveh is (present) aw*h*= hava to be future yahvah will be (future) (YHVH) Yud-Heh-Vav-Heh YeHoVaH: He was; He is; He will be yet He transcends each tense. Meaning: He Is Able to Inhabit Past, Present, and Future Simultaneously 3

4 Scriptural Examples of His Sacred Name This is what we read as transcribed in our English Bibles: Isa 42:8 I am the LORD, that is My name... This is what we read and should correctly understand from the original Hebrew text: Isa 42:8 I am (äåäé) YHVH [Yehovah], that is My name... This is what we read as transcribed in our English Bibles: Ex 3:15 Moreover God said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: 'The LORD, God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.' This is what we read and should correctly understand from the original Hebrew text: Ex 3:15 Elohim said further to Moshe, Say this to the people of Isra el: Yud-Heh-Vav-Heh, YHVH [Yehovah], God of your fathers... has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.' The Four Yah s There are four scriptures that Yah was left alone when transcribing Hebrew to English in the New King James Version (NKJV). Psalm 68:4 Sing to God, sing praises to His name; extol Him who rides on the clouds, by His name Yah, and rejoice before Him. Isaiah 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; 'For Yah, the LORD, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.'" Isaiah 26:4 Trust in the LORD forever, for in Yah, the LORD, is everlasting strength. 4

5 Isaiah 38:11 I said, "I shall not see Yah, the LORD, in the land of the living; I shall observe man no more among the inhabitants of the world. 2 In a few instances within the English King James Version, Yehovah is left alone, not switching it to LORD. Ex 6:3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. Ps 83:18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth. Isa 26:4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength. Read with new understanding when Yehovah replaces the LORD, or the LORD : Ps 102:12 But You, O Yehovah, shall endure forever, and the remembrance of Your name to all generations. Hos 12:5... Yehovah is His memorable name. Mic 4:5 For all people walk each in the name of his god, but we will walk in the name of Yehovah our God. Forever and ever. Mal 3:6 "For I am Yehovah, I do not change... 2 The sound of using (J)ehovah replaced (Y)ehovah during the 12th century; therefore when the KJV was authorized in 1611, Jehovah was the accepted usage. In these verses, the KJV puts Jehovah in all CAPS. 5

6 Below are verses that signify how important His name is to Him: Ex 20:24... In every place where I cause My name to be remembered I will come to you and bless you. Isa 52:6 Therefore My people shall know what My name is and what it means; therefore they shall know in that day that I am He who speaks; behold, I AM! AMP Even in prophecy concerning the aftermath of the attempted assault upon Israel when Yehovah intervenes on Israel s behalf against Gog and Magog, He states: Ezek 39: then they shall know that I am Yehovah. So I will make My holy name known in the midst of My people Israel, and I will not let them profane My holy name anymore. Then the nations shall know that I am Yehovah, the Holy One in Israel. And lastly, bringing in a New Testament text: Matt 23:37-39 (Yeshua lamenting over Jerusalem) "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of Yehovah!'" 7 Conclusion These verses conclude this teaching so very well! Here, read for yourself! Num 6:22-26 And Yehovah spoke to Moses, saying: "Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, 'This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them: "Yehovah bless you and keep you. Yehovah make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you. Yehovah lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace."' The above is typically read and recognized as the Aaronic Benediction. But reading on into the verse that follows the benediction, verse twenty-seven, it brings this instruction to a close like this: "So they shall place My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them."
