On February 3rd, our guest preacher will be Rabbi Maurice Perlzweig, and on February 10th, Mr. Herbert Mowat will come from Toronto to speak - on "Splitting the Spiritual Atom". We trust congregants will continue to come in the large num.. bers that have marked our Sabbath Eve Services this year. OUR BAR MITZVAH Weare pleased to felicitate Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Cohn on the occasion of the Bar Mitzvah ceremony of their son Joseph which takes plqce this Saturday morning. We also congratulate our new Son of the Commandment and we hope that this occasion will so impress him that he will always wish to devote himself to the furtherance of the Jewish faith and its ideals. MEN'S ASSOCIATION At the Open Meeting on. Tuesday Evening, February 7th, the speaker will be Dr. David F. Tracy, nationally known psychologist and consultant. Dr. Tracy will speak on "The Formula for a Successful Life". He has just completed a series of talks on personal problems at Carnegie Hall. 3 ROD E PHS H 0 L 0 M C.H RON I C L E LARGE CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE TO ASSIST IN BUILDING DRIVE Within the next few days the initial set of plans will be sub~itted by our architect, Mr. Charles B. Meyers to the Building Committee for the proposed addition to the 6th and 7th Floor. It is hoped that the actua l. construction will begin in the late Spring. However, the Board has resolved that no building activity will start until the full amount of the construction costs has been raised. To the end that the $75,000. needed to complete the Building Fund shall be raised by May 1 st, a large and enthusiastic committee of men and women has volunteered on the Jourial and Brick Drives to aid our Temple in reaching this goal. FROM PROFESSOR BUBER Rabbi Newman has received the following letter from Professor Martin Buber, the illustrious philosopher. of Hasidism, dated October 4, 194'd, Talbiyeh, Jerusalem on the receipt of the Cantata "In the Humble Heart", presented at Confirmation Services la st June. Professor Buber wrote: "Many thanks for what you sent me. I was much impress~d by the Cantata. This is, as far as I know, the first attempt made in the West to lise Hasidic sayings and songs in a composition of this kind for the Service of a community. May others follow!" PARENTS! PLEASE NOTE! This Tuesday evening, January 31st, at 8:15 there will be a meeting of the parents of the Religious School at which an important matter relating to improved facilities for our boys and girls will be discussed. Rabbi Newman has sent a letter to all the parents, and a special reminder to the fathers and mothers of the pupils of Classes 14A-B whom he meets every Sunday morning at 9:30. This meeting is of signal importance in the life of the Congregation, and we look forward to a large gathering of the parents of our pupils.

The Adult Education Committee cordially invites the members of the Congregation to attend an informal chat on Art with Joseph Margulies, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, January 29th, in the Marcus Loew Auditorium. Mr. Margulies is represented in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Library of Congress, San Fr=cisco Museum, Baltimore Museum, New York State Capitol and elsewhere. His printed works include portraits of Einstein, Hoover, FelL<:: Frankfurter, John Dewey, Wendell Wilkie, Felix Adrer and Lord Marley. Following his talk, there will be a group visit to Mr. Margulies' studio at 27 West 67th Street. RELIGIOUS SCHOOL On Sunday morning, January 29th, the Religious School will hold two assemblies in celebration of Hamisha Asar B'Shevat. which occurs this year on F~bruary 2nd. Original plays will be presented at each assembly, and there will be tree-planting ceremonies. The first assembly, for Classes 7 through II, will begin at 10 o'clock an;.i the second, for Classes 12 through 14, will start at 11 o'clock. Parents are cordially invited to attend. SNOW BALL Invitation cards for Snow Ball, the annual winter Supper Dance of the Youth Division, to be held on February 4th, have been distributed to committee representatives of the League, Rudolph Grossman Society and the Aaron Wise Post Graduate Society. Members of these groups and their g uests are requested to secure their invitation cards promptly.. Through their Chairmen a moderate subscription of $3.00 per couple will be charged, in return for which an enjoyable evening is a ssured.

The text of the Megillah has been placed in verse by Rabbi Newman and adapted to the Purim melodies. It promises to be a most delightful occasion, and we ask our congregants and friends to maket note of it in their calendar. The memorable quality of "Ein Bereirah" will, it is hoped, be renewed, according to the Purim mood, in "Star Over Shushan". Tickets will be sent to our congregants in good time. On Saturday Evening, March 4th, the Purim Carnival will be held under the auspices of the Youth Council. Sunday, March 5th, the Purim celebration of the school will take place, and parents are asked to begin their preparations for suitable costumes to be worn by the boys and girls in the Purim Masquerade. Don't delay in your plans for the costumes! Let Purim this year be more radiant than ever before. GLEE CLUB WEDNESDAYS Every Wednesday Evening, the Glee Club meets on the 5th Floor for instruction by Mr. Harold Wachter.
