27 27 Gabriel told Daniel: I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince. Daniel 10:21 A Special Message about MICHAEL - WHY IS HIS NAME IN THE FORM OF A QUESTION? The name Michael means who is like God? This name is a challenge to all who would claim God s place and authority, a common occurrence throughout history. The first usurper was Lucifer (Satan). He declared: I will be like the Most High... I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. (Isaiah 14:12-14; Ezekiel 28:1-3) Many followed in Lucifer s steps - Babylon, Egypt, Rome and others deified their kings, pharaohs, emperors, and popes. That is, made gods of them (see Acts 12:21,22). Daniel, in the Old Testament foretells the rise of one who would act as God (Daniel 11:36). Paul, in the New Testament says this one would sit as God in the temple of God showing himself that he is God. (2 Thessalonians 2:4) But Michael stands in the way of all such, with the challenge of His very name - Who is like God? There is only one - the Divine Son. (Read John Chapter 1)
