2 CONJUNCTIONS Definition: Joining words are called conjunctions. Types and usage patterns: Basically there are two types of conjunctions: Coordinative Subordinating 1. Either + or Time : before/after/till 2. Neither +nor Cause/Reason: because/since 3. Not only + but also Result: that/so he did it. 4. Both + and Purpose : in order that/so that 5. Between + and Condition : if/as if 6. Seldom + never Contrast : although/however 7. Lest + should Comparison : as good as/than 8. Hardly + when Extent/manner : as/so 9. Scarcely + when 10.No sooner + than 11.Although + yet 12.Though + yet
