The Lord s Prayer (Part 1) Our Father Who art in heaven; Hollowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdome come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespasses against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one, in Christ Jesus our Lord. For thine is the Kingdome, the power and the glory. For ever and ever. Amen Can you memorize the orange part of The Lord s Prayer. This journal belongs to: St. John the Beloved & Arch Angel Raphael Coptic Orthodox church (Sunday School Curriculum for First Grade.)

Night of the last supper (Night of the last supper)2 Jesus took bread and broke, (and said "This is My Body.") 2 Refrain: Our Master, our Savior, gave us the vine of love. He is the Bread of life, (coming from heaven above.)3 Help your kids memorize the memory verse in page 5 for reviewing next week. There will be a reward for the child who will memories it. Parents would share with their children their feelings and actions before, during and after holy communion. They should help them memorize a short preparatory prayer and a short thanksgiving prayer to be recited before and after holy communion. Please find examples at the end of this book. Review the lesson with your children by asking them these questions: Q: Whose house did our Lord celebrate the Passover in? Q: What was the meal that Christ and His disciples had in the Passover? Q: When do we take Christ s Body and Blood? Q: What did Christ do after He and His disciples took communion? Q: What do we do after we take communion? The Answers: A: St. Marks A: Christ s Body and Blood A: Communion A: Sing hymns A: Sing hymns

Every week we will learn about one virtue that one of the saints or a person in the bible is famous with. Joseph was famous for his honesty in everything.. When he was at Potiphar s house, he was working with full honesty that Potiphar made him the master over the other servants. He was also honest in his relationship with God that one time his master s wife tried to mad him do a big sin but he refused and accepted to be put in jail than to be dishonest to God. God reward him and made him the governor of Egypt. How to obtain it: by always say the truth no mater what, do your best in doing your homework and studying. Be honest to God and try not to do any sin or bad things. 4 One day our Lord Jesus Christ did a big celebration with His disciples. That big feast was Passover. Passover used to be the most important holiday for God s people because on that day, the people would remember when God had freed them from Egypt (where they had been very miserable and had to work very, very hard) a long time ago. Our Lord wanted to celebrate the Passover with His disciples because He considered them his family and the closest people to Him. And He loved them very much because they were the beginning of the Church, the beginning of us. So, we are also part of our Lord s family. When the people would celebrate Passover, they would eat a very big meal together. This was the meal that our Lord was going to eat with His disciples. But first, He needed to have two of His disciples go get everything ready for Passover before they all arrived there. He picked St. Peter and St. John, and He told them Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat. So St. Peter and St. John said to Him, Where do You want us to prepare? They didn t know whose house they were going to go to! So our Lord said to them, When you enter the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house which he enters. Then you shall say to the master of the house, The Teacher (meaning Christ) says to you, Where is the guest room where I may eat the Passover with My disciples? Then he will show you a large, furnished upper room; there make ready. That man was St. Mark who our church is named after. So St. Peter and St. John went and they found everything to be just as our Lord had told them it would be. And they prepared the Passover meal for our Lord and the rest of the disciples. The disciples worked together and helped each one another. When it was time to eat, Christ and the rest of the disciples came. They said thank you to St. Peter and St. John for getting everything ready, and then they all sat down together to eat. After our Lord and the disciples ate, our Lord Jesus did something very interesting. He washed the disciples feet Because He loved them very much and wanted to serve them, and to help them. Peter was uncomfortable with having our Lord wash his feet. He felt that this was too much and that he should be washing Christ' feet. But our Lord told him that unless he allowed Him to wash his feet, he would have no part with Him. Our Lord was going to do something very important after Whales A. They are mammals. Calves grow inside their mothers. B. They need to breath air and because of that they can t sleep for very long. C. Whales swim as fast as 30 miles per hour. D. whales are worm blooded and considered the largest animal of the world. Do you know any saint or some one from the bible that Whale have played a special rule in his/her life? Write the name. below

Can you help the disciples reach Jesus to have their first communion. washing their feet. He had wanted, more than anything, to be able to share this meal with them and wash their feet, because He had been planning on doing something very special with them. While they were sitting and eating, our Lord took bread, gave thanks to God His Father, broke it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, Take, eat; this is My body which is given for you. The disciples did not know what He meant, but they could see that our Lord was being very serious and that something very important was happening. They were very quiet, and a little bit nervous, what do you mean, Lord? they wanted to ask. But they didn t ask; they took the bread from Him and ate it, just like He said to do. Then, when they had finished supper, our Lord took the cup that was in front of Him on the table, saying, Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood, which is shed for you. Again, the disciples could see that our Lord was still very serious and He was giving them something very important. They each took the cup from Him and drank. Our Lord gave His disciples the very first communion. He gave them Himself. The disciples didn t know what was happening then, but they learned after a while. After they finished everything, our Lord and the disciples sang a hymn together to God. They learned that this was the most important meal they would eat, and later, they gave it to all the churches in the world, all the people who are Christ s family. Our Lord also told His disciples that they would need to keep having the same Communion, that same meal, regularly. So, they did this with each other and with the other people who belonged to our Lord. What Did We Learn We all need to prepare before we come to the church for the Eucharist, by sleep early, pray before sleep, come early, clean before you come. And also we need to share things and works with each other. People who really want to be Christian and be like Jesus will follow what He did. This is why abouna wipes the deacons feet on Thursday in Holy Week. Vocabulary list 1. Passover: used to be the most important holiday for God s people.

Can you arrange the verse and put it in the right order: bread, I of came this from he If the eats Said: heaven which am anyone will Jesus bread live living forever down. (John 6:51) Jesus said: "I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever" John 6:51
