4 Week Three We learned about the different divisions of the Bible Old Testament & New Testament Pentateuch The Historical Books The Poetic Books The Prophetic Books Major & Minor Prophets The Gospels The Epistles The Letters of Paul The General Letters The Book Of Revelation In a class by itself!

7 It will lead you to salvation and show you how to live according to the Kingdom Of God. 2 nd Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God (Which Is You) may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. It gives you direction, clarity, and leads you into purpose Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. 8 It is your weapon John 4:1-10 (The Spiritual Street Fight!) Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread. Jesus answered him, It is also written: Do not put the Lord your God to the test. Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. All this I will give you, he said, if you will bow down and worship me. Jesus said to him, Away from me, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.

10 I Began With Reading The New Testament 1 st with the Four Gospels In The Gospels I gained understanding of who Jesus really was. What He Preached How He Lived Prophecies He fulfilled From there is was led to reference & read the Prophetical Books This path gave me a solid foundation in understanding the Bible

12 Context: Cultural Context Deuteronomy 22:5 A woman must not wear men s clothing, nor a man wear women s clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this. Historical Context Leviticus 11:9-12 Of all the creatures living in the water of the seas and the streams you may eat any that have fins and scales. But all creatures in the seas or streams that do not have fins and scales whether among all the swarming things or among all the other living creatures in the water you are to regard as unclean. And since you are to regard them as unclean, you must not eat their meat; you must regard their carcasses as unclean. Anything living in the water that does not have fins and scales is to be regarded as unclean by you. Immediate Context Acts 2:38 Peter replied, Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

15 Book Studies are studies of a specific book in the bible that answer the following questions. Who is the writer of the book What is the date of the book Where was the book written For whom was the book written Why was the book written What was the Geographical setting Were there any historical events, prior, occurring, or expected What was the Culture of the day Most Study Bibles will have a brief introduction and outline at the beginning of every book.

18 Using The Bible Study Tools We learned about in Week One, We are going to perform a topical study on SALVATION. As You perform your study on Salvation, provide your main scripture reference(s). Use the concordance for assistance. Also Provide at least 2-3 scripture references that support your main scripture. What Books in the Bible are you referencing in you study on salvation? Provide a brief synopsis of at least one of those books. Use Commentaries and other resources available. What Characters in the Bible have you identified in your study of Salvation? Give a brief bio on at least one individual you have identified.
