Participants will have a cross-cultural, historical, political and linguistic experience, with different types of community services during their stay.

2 Action packed summer experience 2013 MSI GLE (Mercy Stride International Global Leadership Experience) is a leadership development program for high-school students focused on leadership development through a combination of experience-based activities and a series of lectures. Participants will have a cross-cultural, historical, political and linguistic experience, with different types of community services during their stay. Through two (2) weeks of non-stop activities and cultural learning; each participant develops leadership abilities. They also will cultivate the dreams of all humanity and hope for the future. The basis for MSI GLE directing the Leadership Experiences in Israel is that the country s history spans over 4,000 years. Israel is the only country in the world that lost their statehood, reclaiming it 2,000 years later. Participants learn and experience Israel s abundant history of hope and a genuine human desire. Israel is the only country in the world with three major religions: Christianity, Islam and Judaism, claiming a holy place. Participants will learn how these religions affect Israel and its people, and the effect this has on the entire global society. MSI GLE does not promote any religious views. Participants will have reflective times and a series of discussions, so each individual has a better knowledge of the cultural differences, historical meanings and the dignity of each individual. Are you a leader? 2013 MSI GLE is an inclusive program encompassing the financial requirement. Traditionally these overseas summer programs are arranged by commercial operators and they require lump sum 2

3 payments immediately as students sign up for the program MSI GLE is somewhat different from any other summer programs. Once participants are selected, they have six (6) months to fundraise for the trip. MSI GLE selects very leadership-oriented students; MSI GLE also presumes each participant has excellent verbal and communication skills. MSI GLE teaches participants how to raise funds, how to conduct one-on-one and group presentations, as well as mentor and monitor the participants fundraising activity. We want you to go to the college you desire! During the two (2) week summer program; each participant will receive immeasurable experiences and reflections from their participation and activities. MSI GLE requires each student to write an excellent essay for college and most importantly for their life s journey. MSI GLE requires each student to define and tune their leadership role model, exercising their leadership skills for their community. Fee Fee covers all in-country expenses including lodging, meals, hotel in Israel, transportation, all activities and entrance fees, community service materials, backup medical insurance, and experienced program leaders. Fee does not include the following: International airfare Souvenirs or snack Laundry, phone calls, or tip. Program Schedule Disclaimer: Actual order of activities will vary by program session. The day-by-day itinerary detailed below is typical for what you can expect to experience, but not set in stone as work and activities vary depending upon the needs of our local community partners, various celebrations and customs, as well as the weather. This itinerary is designed to give you an example of what a day-to-day schedule would look like and provides a clear idea of the program experience. It may be changed during the summer as staff sees fit and on the ground circumstances and opportunities change our course. 3

Day 1 Los Angeles-Tel Aviv. 6/30/13 Sunday Group departs from LAX on Sunday. Overnight International Flight. A meal at Bedouin tent Day 2 Arrival at Ben Gurion Airport.

A meal at Bedouin tent Day 2 Arrival at Ben Gurion Airport. 7/1/13 Monday Met by a representative and transferred to your overnight hotel. Dinner. Day 3 Tel Aviv. 7/2/13 Tuesday After breakfast, we will have an Ancient History Seminar in the morning session. Afternoon community service. Lunch, Dinner. Overnight Tel Aviv. Day 4 Tel Aviv. 7/3/13 Wednesday After breakfast, we will have an Israel Modern History/Wars Seminar in the morning session. Afternoon community service. Lunch, Dinner. Overnight Tel Aviv Day 5 Tel Aviv. 7/4/13 Thursday After breakfast, we will have a Leadership with IDF in the morning session. Afternoon community service. Lunch/Dinner. Overnight Tel Aviv. 4

Day 7 Tel Aviv. 7/6/13 Saturday Day at leisure. Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner. Boat riding and sand castle contest with locals. Overnight Tel Aviv. World famous Tel Aviv beach Day 8 Jerusalem. 7/7/13 Sunday After an early breakfast, we will depart for Jerusalem. Today we will visit the Israeli Parliament and continue to the Jerusalem City Hall. Proceed to Yad Vashem, the Memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. Lunch/Dinner. Overnight Jerusalem. Day 9 Massada/Dead Sea/Jerusalem. 7/8/13 Monday After breakfast, drive via the Good Samaritan Inn to the Mountain Fortress of Massada, which is situated right on an isolated cliff in the Judean Desert. The site has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Massada was the last stronghold of the Jews after the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 A.D. in the war against the Romans. Ascend to the fortress by cable car to visit the Palaces of Herod the Great, the Roman baths and pools. On the way, we will stop in Qumran, the city of the Essence, where the Dead Sea scrolls were found in a cave by a shepherd. Nearly 1,300 feet below sea 5

6 level, the Dead Sea is the lowest point on the earth s surface. Bring your swimsuit as if weather permits; it is possible to float on the salty, mineral rich, water. Return to Jerusalem for an overnight. Bedouin Style dinner. Return to Jerusalem for overnight. Day 10 Jerusalem Old & New City. 7/9/13 Tuesday After breakfast, ascend the Mount of Olives to visit the Chapel of the Ascension, the Church of the Pater Noster and have a wonderful panoramic view of the Old City of Jerusalem, with the Temple Mount. Walking down the Mount of Olives, we shall reach the Church of Dominus Flevit for the visit and proceed to the Garden of Gethsemane, the place where Jesus was arrested, to see the old olive trees and visit the Basilica of the Agony. Through the Lion's Gate we shall walk into the Old City to visit the Church of St. Anne and the Pool of Bethesda. Proceed through the Via Dolorosa walking along the Stations of the Cross from the remains of the Antonia to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. After the visits, walk through the colorful bazaar for lunch. Proceed to the Jewish Quarter, and reach the Wailing Wall - the holiest place for the Jews - and the Dung Gate, to drive through the New City of Jerusalem to Ein Kerem to visit the Church of St. John. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. Day 11 Tel Aviv. 7/10/13 Wednesday After breakfast, we will depart Jerusalem for our return to Tel Aviv. En route, we will proceed to Yad La Shiryon, Israel's Tank Museum and Memorial to fallen soldiers. Continue to Ayalon Bullet Factory, the Diaspora Museum, and finally the Independence Museum. Overnight in Tel Aviv. (Breakfast, Dinner) Day 12 Galilee / Golan Heights. 7/11/13 Thursday We start the daily early to drive to the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum to visit the ruins of the ancient synagogue then Drive to the Golan Heights. Visit the former Syrian fortifications, Birkat ram, and the Druze villages, via Banias, source of the Jordan River take Rafting on the Jordan River. Overnight Galilee. (Lunch/Dinner) 6

Day 13 Departure to USA. 7/12/13 Friday After breakfast, proceed to Gan Hashlosha, the most beautiful natural water park. Continue to Hebrew University. Visit Center for International Relations.
