INHERITED OR GENERATIONAL CURSES Inherited curses are curses upon one s family lineage that are inherited by blood. As long as you come from a cursed family, the curse follows you until it is broken. The question that the disciples of Jesus asked him about the man that was born blind - if he was the man who caused his own blindness through his sin or his parents, shows that curses can be inherited. They are giving us an impression that his parent s sins could have attracted a curse on the family which made him to be born blind. John 9:1-3 9:1 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" 3 "Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life. Idolatry, demons and ancestral worship brings God s curses on a family which may run to the fourth generation. Ex 34:6-7 6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation." The curses of the law of God according to Deut. 28:15-68 includes: Humiliation, Hunger, Poverty, Depression, Boils, Bad sight (eye problems), Barrenness and miscarriage, Fever, Consumption (burning out), Hardship, Itching, Madness,

2 Blindness, Slavery, All manner of sicknesses and diseases, Insecurity, Failure, Disappointment, Defeat before enemies, Untimely death, Epidemics (plagues), Famine (No rain leading to no food), Unfruitfulness, Loses of investment and all that they labour for, Want (never having enough), Endless wars, Eating of their children, etc. All these curses run through the blood line until they are broken. Breaking ancestral covenants binding us to the idol and spirit that our ancestors worship helps to free us from idolatrous curses. Most of our markets are founded on the basis of idolatrous covenants. Most communities in Africa are founded on idolatry. Most of our traditions and dances are founded on idolatry. To be free from these spirits and curses therefore: 1. We need to keep away from these festivals and dances. 2. Do not forbid what they forbid, like eating certain animals and obeying certain laws based on superstition. Isa 8: "Do not call conspiracy everything that these people call conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. 13 The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread, 3. Do not continue to keep laws and participate in their idolatrous festivals and dances after you have broken the covenants and curses. 4. Do not partake in any food or drink offered to an idol or used in worshipping of ancestors. 1 Cor 10: Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say. 16 Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the

3 body of Christ? 17 Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf. 18 Consider the people of Israel: Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar? 19 Do I mean then that a sacrifice offered to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything? 20 No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons. 22 Are we trying to arouse the Lord's jealousy? Are we stronger than he? 5. Do not partake of any food, cola or drink that your ancestors have been invited to partake of, if you do, you will be bringing yourself under the covenant and curse binding them. Parents transfer curses through the blood line to their children if they are under a curse. In 1 Samuel 2:27-33 Eli was cursed by God. 1 Sam 2: Now a man of God came to Eli and said to him, "This is what the LORD says: `Did I not clearly reveal myself to your father's house when they were in Egypt under Pharaoh? 28 I chose your father out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up to my altar, to burn incense, and to wear an ephod in my presence. I also gave your father's house all the offerings made with fire by the Israelites. 29 Why do you scorn my sacrifice and offering that I prescribed for my dwelling? Why do you honor your sons more than me by fattening yourselves on the choice parts of every offering made by my people Israel?' 30 "Therefore the LORD, the God of Israel, declares: `I promised that your house and your father's house would minister before me forever.' But now the LORD declares: `Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained. 31 The time is coming when I will cut short your strength and the strength of your father's house, so that there will not be an old man in your family line 32 and you will see distress in my dwelling. Although good will be done to Israel, in your family line there will never be an old man. 33 Every one of you that I do not cut off from my altar will be spared only to blind your eyes with tears and to grieve your heart, and all your descendants will die in the prime of life. 34 "`And what happens to your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, will be a sign to you-they will both die on the same day. 35 I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who will do according to what is in my heart and mind. I will firmly establish his house, and he will minister before my anointed one always. 36 Then everyone left in your family line will come and bow down before him for a piece of silver and a crust of bread and plead, "Appoint me to some priestly office so I can have food to eat."'" Abiathar his descendant who served David, later joined Adonijah to take the throne instead of Solomon. When Solomon became king, he sacked him from the priesthood to fulfill the inherited curse on him.

4 1 Kings 2: To Abiathar the priest the king said, "Go back to your fields in Anathoth. You deserve to die, but I will not put you to death now, because you carried the ark of the Sovereign LORD before my father David and shared all my father's hardships." 27 So Solomon removed Abiathar from the priesthood of the LORD, fulfilling the word the LORD had spoken at Shiloh about the house of Eli. If you are not aware of any curse on your family line, check your family to find out if there is any misfortune or evil that is prevalent or rather common in your family. In some families, the curse may be a certain disease or illness, divorce or separation in marriage, death at a certain age limit, constant failure and disappointment, etc. Investigate your family. When you identify a curse in the family line find out what led to it, and deal with it. Confess the sins of your ancestors and use the blood and the name of Jesus to break it. Ezek 18:1-4 18:1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 "What do you people mean by quoting this proverb about the land of Israel: "`The fathers eat sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge'? 3 "As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, you will no longer quote this proverb in Israel. 4 For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son-both alike belong to me. The soul who sins is the one who will die. Ezek 18: He follows my decrees and faithfully keeps my laws. That man is righteous; he will surely live, declares the Sovereign LORD. 10 "Suppose he has a violent son, who sheds blood or does any of these other things 11(though the father has done none of them): "He eats at the mountain shrines. He defiles his neighbor's wife. 12 He oppresses the poor and needy. He commits robbery. He does not return what he took in pledge. He looks to the idols. He does detestable things. 13 He lends at usury and takes excessive interest. Will such a man live? He will not! Because he has done all these detestable things, he will surely be put to death and his blood will be on his own head. 14 "But suppose this son has a son who sees all the sins his father commits, and though he sees them, he does not do such things: 15 "He does not eat at the mountain shrines or look to the idols of the house of Israel. He does not defile his neighbor's wife. 16 He does not oppress anyone or require a pledge for a loan. He does not commit robbery but gives his food to the hungry and provides clothing for the naked. 17 He withholds his hand from sin and takes no usury or excessive interest. He keeps my laws and follows my decrees. He will not die for his father's sin; he will surely live. 18 But his father will die for his own sin, because he practiced extortion, robbed his brother and did what was wrong among his people. 19 "Yet you ask, `Why does the son not share the guilt of his father?' Since the son has done what is just and right and has been careful to keep all my decrees, he will surely live. 20 The soul who sins is the

5 one who will die. The son will not share the guilt of the father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous man will be credited to him, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against him. Satanic curses are inheritable. So you must locate the curse and the cause for the curse, and break it in Jesus name. THE CURSE OF PROPHETS Every prophet is set up for the fall and rising of many. Luke 2: Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: "This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, This proclamation originally was spoken about Jesus on the occasion of his dedication in the temple. But, it is also true of all Prophets of God. WHO IS A PROPHET OF GOD? It is important that you first understand who a prophet is, so you can appreciate the enormity of the curse of prophets. Prophets are messengers of God. They are spokespersons of God on the earth especially in times when evil, captivity, failure and groaning reigns. They are agents of God for deliverance. They are Ambassadors of God sent with the message and power for liberating mankind from suffering and bringing them into freedom, success, abundance, and fulfillment. The words they speak heaven honors; the thoughts of their hearts, God backs up. Isa 44:26 26 who carries out the words of his servants and fulfills the predictions of his messengers, Prophets are God s agents of triumph for failure ridden times. They are his agents of victory in times of distress. Moses the prophet was sent to deliver Israel out of 400 years of bondage in Egypt (Hosea 12:13). Elijah the prophet was sent to deliver Israel from their backsliding state and bring the people back to God. Jesus knew he was a prophet with a mission (Acts 13:57; Acts 3:22). Jesus operated upon the earth with the apostolic and prophetic unction in order to be able to establish his kingdom through the church on earth (Eph 2:18-20; Isa. 2:1-3; Micah 4:2-3). This clearly points to God s end-time plan to build the church and bring her upon the top of the mountains. In the light of Eph. 2:18-20 we know that the Apostolic and Prophetic ministry is the foundation building ministry. The prophetic ministry is needed today to build and establish the church in this evil and perilous time.

6 Prophets are not just those who see visions and prophesy, but messengers of hope, deliverance and success - They are agents of God in time of crisis. Prophets interpret mysteries of God (1 Cor. 13:2). THE CURSE OF PROPHETS Ps 105:15 15 "Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm." These agents of God called prophets have the power to bless or curse. Their words are honored by God. They can stop rain, ruin or make a man great by their words. 1 Kings 17:1 17:1 Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word." 2 Kings 2: From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead!" 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths. 25 And he went on to Mount Carmel and from there returned to Samaria. Do not mock God s prophets so you don t carry a curse on your life. Do not rebel or speak evil against God s prophets, so that you don t come under a curse. Num 16: Then Moses said, "This is how you will know that the LORD has sent me to do all these things and that it was not my idea: 29 If these men die a natural death and experience only what usually happens to men, then the LORD has not sent me. 30 But if the LORD brings about something totally new, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them, with everything that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the grave, then you will know that these men have treated the LORD with contempt." 31 As soon as he finished saying all this, the ground under them split apart 32 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, with their households and all Korah's men and all their possessions. 33 They went down alive into the grave, with everything they owned; the earth closed over them, and they perished and were gone from the community. Num 12:1-8 12:1 Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite. 2 "Has the LORD spoken only through Moses?" they asked. "Hasn't he also spoken through us?" And the LORD heard this. 3(Now Moses was a very humble man, more

7 humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.) 4 At once the LORD said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, "Come out to the Tent of Meeting, all three of you." So the three of them came out. 5 Then the LORD came down in a pillar of cloud; he stood at the entrance to the Tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When both of them stepped forward, 6 he said, "Listen to my words: "When a prophet of the LORD is among you, I reveal myself to him in visions, I speak to him in dreams. 7 But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house. 8 With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?" The prophet may never know what evil you are speaking or doing against him. But the curse will still catch up with you. God will deal with you Himself. MICHAL Saul s daughter came under this curse - she became barren. Acts 2: "Brothers, I can tell you confidently that the patriarch David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. 30 But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne. 2 Sam 6: When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said, "How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, disrobing in the sight of the slave girls of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!" 21 David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler over the LORD's people Israel-I will celebrate before the LORD. 22 I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor." 23 And Michal daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death. Barrenness could mean absolute unproductivity in the work of their hands, in spite of all efforts, because they are perhaps under the curse of prophets. He that receives a prophet shall receive a prophet s reward; and he that rejects a prophet shall remain in his affliction. Mark 6:1-6 6:1 Jesus left there and went to his hometown, accompanied by his disciples. 2 When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. "Where did this man get these things?" they asked. "What's this wisdom that has been given him, that he even does miracles! 3 Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?" And they took offense at him. 4 Jesus said to them, "Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without

8 honor." 5 He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. 6 And he was amazed at their lack of faith. Matt 10: "He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives the one who sent me. 41 Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and anyone who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man's reward. SATANIC CURSES Many have been more concerned about this curse more than the other curses, but it is the least of all the curses. This curse is real but it s the easiest to handle if the person is deeply rooted in Christ. For when you are in line with God, you render any curse of Satan ineffective, worthless, null and void. If you don t give place to the devil, satanic curses cannot work in your life. Eph 4: and do not give the devil a foothold. 1 John 5:18 18 We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. Num 23:20 20 I have received a command to bless; he has blessed, and I cannot change it. Righteous living will keep satanic curses away from you. Job 1: Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil." 9 "Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied. 10 "Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. As long as you walk in righteousness, you will become an impossible case for any witch or wizard. You can cheaply disarm them when you give no opportunity to the devil. You are higher than the devil in authority. You are more powerful than the devil in Christ. Therefore, you should fear no evil or curse from the wicked ones. Only live a holy life, obey God s word that you are hearing and studying.

9 Eph 1: and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. Eph 2:6 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, When you are free from the curse of God, you become automatically free from the curse of Satan or satanic curses. Satan can, and only treads upon the man under the curse of God. When one is under the curse of God, God delivers him to Satan to afflict him by withdrawing his protection, blessing and favor in that area he is to be punished. E.g. Job was attacked in the area he was afraid of. Job 3:25 25 What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me. Romans 8:31 tells us that, if God be for us, who can be against us? That is to say that as long as God is on your side, satanic curses can t rest upon you. You don t need to struggle with God, all you need to do is to put your life in order and you will displace the devil with ease. CONCLUSION Take a look at your life and family critically. Investigate your past and family to identify which curse is in operation in your life. Deal with the curse by genuine repentance, restitution, fervent and sincere prayer, deliverance and living right according to God s word, and it will be well with you as long as you live. Dealing with these curses will also free your seed from oppression from the same curse or curses. Do not delay. Go to work on it now. SUCCESS TIT-BITS 1. Humility is the pathway to honor. It is the seed that bears the fruit of honor, dignity, wealth and fame. 2. Humility is the solid foundation upon which the house of glory is built.

10 3. If you want to be great, you have to learn to serve others in the spirit of humility. Pride has ruined a lot of people. It has transformed many into an object of ridicule. For some, it has made them to become beasts. It has taken beauty out of many and made them ugly. It has ruined a lot of beautiful relationships, torn families apart, ruined a lot of careers and aborted many dreams and visions. Pride is an evil that must be destroyed for one to be honored before God and man. Deal with it in your life now. And guard your heart, that it does not creep in and establish itself within you. 4. Success is the fruit of diligent application of the word of God. 5. Once you allow pride into your life because you are succeeding and climbing to the top, you will soon start falling down. 6. Tithing and giving is an expression of gratitude for all the blessings being received from God. Not to give or tithe is to be ungrateful. It is not enough to say with your mouth, I am grateful Lord for what you are doing." He wants you to show it. 7. No fearful person wins (succeeds). 8. The quality of information at your disposal determines the quality of your success. 9. Your education is what you make it, and you can find the information that takes you where you want to go. Knowledge is only potential power. It becomes power only when and if it is organized into definite plans of action and directed to a definite end. 10. Knowledge that is not productive is useless. 11. Education that cannot be profited from is a waste. 12. An educated man is one who has been able to use his education to his own advantage and benefit of others. WISDOM FOR ASSOCIATION 1. The problems you solve for others will create doors of favor for you. Be a problem-solver. 2. An act of kindness from you will attract acts of kindness towards you. 3. Do unto others what you will have them do unto you. Like begets like. 4. Your rewards in life are determined by the problems you solve for theirs. 5. Whom and what you are willing to walk away from determines who and what God will bring to you. 6. Those who cannot increase you, will inevitably decrease you. 7. Give another what he cannot find anywhere else and he will keep returning. 8. Those who transfer knowledge are also capable of transferring error. 9. You will be pursued for the problems you solve. 10. Anyone who is not a plus to your life is a minus, so minus that person from your life. 11. You will only be remembered for two things: The problems you solve or the ones you create.

11 12. When God wants to bless you, he puts a person in your life. When Satan wants to destroy you, he puts a person in your life. Watch out for the messengers. RENEWING THE MIND 1. Positive thoughts will attract positive results. Devil and evil consciousness will attract devils and evil. God consciousness will attract the presence and power of God and whatever God stands for. 2. Devil consciousness has helped to strengthen the grip of the devil on the populace. It has helped to magnify the devil to a level that people fear the devil more than they fear God. 3. Consciousness of the devil generates strong fear. And what you fear always comes to you. 4. God consciousness is the act of giving your mind to thoughts about God. It is consciousness of the reality and presence of God in one s life and in every circumstance of life. 5. God consciousness is knowing, understanding and walking in the consciousness of who you are in Christ Jesus. God consciousness is walking in the light of God s word. It is always bearing in mind who God is and His word concerning any and every situation you find yourself. 6. The sub-conscious mind is those mental activities of which we are not (wholly) aware. These are thoughts, ideas, desires and impulses arising from previous conscious thoughts in the human mind. When a man has dwelled on a particular thing in his conscious mind, it will settle into the sub-conscious thereby stimulating certain actions that was not originally planned. I call the subconscious mind the store house or reservoir of thoughts.
