1 Objectives: The Prophet Elisha, the widow and the miracle of oil 2 Kings 4: 1-7 (AMPC) 1. Children will learn that they can ask God for help in times of need because He can provide abundantly for our needs. 2. Children will learn that as children of God we will be used to help others in their time of need. Cuando Dios provee a una persona esa provisión la conecta con Dios. Porque Dios provee antes de que la necesidad aparezca.pastor Henry Patiño Introduction: As children of God we should not worry or feel anxious about the needs that are part of our daily life. If we love and obey God and His Word, He has promised to supply all our needs. 6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. 7 And God s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4: And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 29 And you, do not seek [by meditating and reasoning to inquire into] what you are to eat and what you are to drink; nor be of anxious (troubled) mind [unsettled, excited, worried, and in suspense];
2 30 For all the pagan world is [greedily] seeking these things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 Only aim at and strive for and seek His kingdom, and all these things shall be supplied to you also. Luke 12:29-31 This does not mean that adults do not have to work, nor fulfill their responsibilities, or that children and young people should not prepare themselves by studying so that in the future they have a good job. We are talking about whether we are responsible stewards (practicing stewardship) with what God gives us (blessings, provisions, possessions, etc.), and if a situation occurs that affects us for a while we must continue praying and trusting in God, because He He will never abandon us or forsake us. 7 [Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is. 8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8 (AMPC) God sent Elisha to help a widowed woman and her two children; which were to be sold as slaves as the payment of their debts. This woman the only thing that she had in her home was a vessel with oil. Sometimes we can feel like this widow that what we have is something that God cannot use. Examples: (The teacher may have other examples) I cannot sing, but I enjoy sharing with others what God is teaching me of His Word. I cannot practice sports but I like to write notes and send them to people I know and need a word of encouragement. We must learn that what we see as little or insignificant is very much if God is involved. God will bless us when we help others who are in need, especially our families and those of us who are part of His people. Related Topics: 1. Why did the man want to take away his two children from the widow? After the husband and father of this family died, someone knocked on the widow's door. He was a man who was looking for money that the husband owed him, because he had an unpaid bill with this man. Themanwantedto get paid fast. 2. What would I do with them?
3 He is a man, who was a creditor or debt collector, threatened the widow with taking their two children as slaves. 3. Who is a slave? It is a person who lacks freedom and own rights to be subject in an absolute manner to the will and domination of another person who is its owner and who can buy or sell it as if it were a commodity. 4. Why did the widow go look for Elisha? She knew that Elisha was the prophet of God. Because her husband was God fearing and was a member of a group of prophets. Therefore, Elisha knew who had been the husband of this woman. When we have a need, we must go to someone who believes and trusts God for help. 5. What were the instructions that Elisha gave the widow? Ask her neighbors to let her borrow vases. The bases must be empty. Not a small amount, she had to ask for a lot of vases. She had to lock herself in her house with her children and pour the oil into the vases. She would have to set aside the vases that were full of the oil Where did the widow get the vases from? Elisha told the woman and her children to go to their neighbors and ask for as many empty vessels as they could get. How did God provide beyond the needs of this widow? God was beyond what this woman and her children could imagine. She did as she was told and her children brought her the pots and she filled them one after the other, the pots were being filled to the brim. When they completed all the vessels they had obtained, God performed an unexpected miracle, it was when the oil stopped flowing. She told the Prophet of God what had happened, and Elisha indicated that he would sell part of the olive oil and pay all his debts. God had supplied so much oil that this family had to live for a long time on the oil that remained in the other vessels.
4 Bible Scripture: 2 Kings 4: 1-7 (AMPC) 4 Now the wife of a son of the prophets cried to Elisha, Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord. But the creditor has come to take my two sons to be his slaves. 2 Elisha said to her, What shall I do for you? Tell me, what have you [of sale value] in the house? She said, Your handmaid has nothing in the house except a jar of oil. 3 Then he said, Go around and borrow vessels from all your neighbors, empty vessels and not a few. 4 And when you come in, shut the door upon you and your sons. Then pour out [the oil you have] into all those vessels, setting aside each one when it is full. 5 So she went from him and shut the door upon herself and her sons, who brought to her the vessels as she poured the oil. 6 When the vessels were all full, she said to her son, Bring me another vessel. And he said to her, There is not a one left. Then the oil stopped multiplying. 7 Then she came and told the man of God. He said, Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, and you and your sons live on the rest. Lesson Instructions to follow: FIRST SERVICE: Topics: A. B. C. Prayer (10 min) a.
