Application Suppose it was you instead of Adam or Eve. Do you think the results would have been any different? Why? How are all of us affected by the sin of Adam & Eve? (Sometimes called the Romans Road) Romans 5:12 Romans 3:9-12 Romans 3:23 Romans 6:23 How Satan works For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 19 Unit II Lesson #8 Promise Road Detours Through Egypt Bible Coverage: Genesis ch Guidepost Verse: Romans 4:20-21 Dispensation: Promise Gen. 12:1-3 Review of Prior Classes Note what s important about each person / object that we have studied thus far: Adam & Eve Cain & Abel Enoch The Ark Noah built Tower of Babel Abraham The Patriarchs The Promise made to Abraham (Gen 12:1-3) was in turn made to each of the following Patriarchs: Isaac Gen. 26:4, 24 (Highway verse) Jacob Gen. 28:13-15 (Highway verse) Joseph Gen. 48:3-5, 50:24 (Highway verse) The Life of Joseph (son of Jacob) Joseph is one of the few individuals in the Bible where no sin is recorded. As believers today his life provides us an example of living. (all Scripture references are in Genesis) Example #1 Background: Compare Joseph with his brothers. 37:2-3 How did his brothers react? 37:4-5 What did Joseph dream & what did it mean? 37:6-11 What did Joseph s brothers do? 37:18-28 What became of Joseph in Egypt? 39:1-6 Example #2 Background: How was Joseph tested? 39:7-13 How did Joseph respond? 39:7-13 What resulted? 39:16-21; 40:8; 41:1,14,38-41 Example #3 Background: How did Joseph react when he next saw his brothers? 42:21-25; 43:26-30 Did Joseph treat his brothers as they had treated him? 45:1-8

Who are we to be like? 1 Cor. 11:1 Phil. 2:5-7 Like we see in the life of Joseph, here are examples in the New Testament where we are encouraged to live our lives ( walk ) the same way: Example #1 Col. 3:9 Example #2 Example #3 Example #4 1 Cor. 10:13 Col. 3:12-13 Eph. 6:1-3 My Action Point from this Lesson is

Unit III Lesson #9 Moses, the Passover & the Pass-Thru Bible Coverage: Exodus ch Guidepost Verse: Joshua 1:8 Dispensation: Promise Gen. 12:1-3 Why were the Hebrews in Egypt? Gen. 45:9-11 Gen. 15:13-14; Ex. 12:40-41 Ex. 6:6-7; 7:1-5 Why did Israel s favored position in Egypt change? Ex. 1:6-10 How did Pharaoh attempt to control the Hebrews? 23 Unit III Lesson #10 A Mountain Shadows Promise Road Bible Coverage: Exodus ch Guidepost Verse: Joshua 1:8 Dispensation: Promise Gen. 12:1-3 Law Exodus 19:3-8 Exodus 15:22 Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days into the wilderness Exodus 12:7 tells us there were 600,000 men. Counting the women and children there must have been about 3 million people in total. If they were to become a nation, they would need to know how to govern justly and live together peacefully. So, now God is going to test them to see if they are ready. The Testings Reference Test Reaction of the People Solution Pass / & Place Fail Marah bitter waters Exodus 15:23-25 Wilderness no food Exodus 16:1-4 Rephidim no water Exodus 17:1-7 Israel proved themselves to be a people who were sinful and ungrateful. Therefore God acts to begin to train and discipline them. The Law is Added to the Promise The Warning Exodus 19:3-7 The People s Response Ex. 19:8 The Preparation Ex 19:9-25 The Law is Given The Ten Commandments Ex 20:2-17 (see back of page) The Judgments, Ordinances & Instructions for the Tabernacle (Ex ch21 on into Leviticus) These instructions are being added to the Promise because of Israel s sinfulness and because the people did not realize what sin was or understand God s holiness. The People s Response Ex 32:1-6 Israel broke the Law before they even saw it. This proves why God had to add the Law to the Promise ( through the Law comes knowledge of sin. Rom 3:20).

The Law was Given ONLY to Israel Sometimes people living today become confused about the Law (specifically, the Ten Commandments). They believe that they were given to the world and that by trying to keep them, they can please God and be saved. But God tells us in the Bible: Rom. 3:20-24,28 Rom. 4:1-5 Rom. 5:1-2 Gal. 3:19 Rom. 3:31 Gal. 3:17-18 Heb. 10:1 Application: If obeying the Ten Commandments can t save us, is there any application of the Commandments for the e Believer today? (Write the number of the commandment that corresponds to the NT Bible Reference) 1. You shall have no other Gods before me. Acts 14:15 2. You shall not make an idol or worship it. James 5:12 3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. Hebrews 13:5 4. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Ephesians 5:3 5. Honor your father and your mother. 1 John 5:21 6. You shall not murder. Colossians 3:9 7. You shall not commit adultery. Ephesians 6:1 8. You shall not steal. 1 Peter 4:15 9. You shall not bear false witness. Ephesians 4:28 10.You shall not covet anything that is your neighbor s. Which of the Ten Commandments is not repeated in the New Testament?. Why? Colossians 2:16-17 Hebrews 4:9-16 My Action Point from this Lesson is

Unit III Lesson #11 Under the Law on Promise Road Bible Coverage: Numbers ch Guidepost Verse: Joshua 1:8 Dispensation: Law Exodus 19:3-8 What Time is It? Exodus 19:1 Numbers 9:1 How much time had elapsed? During this period: the Law (Ten Commandments, Judgments & Ordinances) was given to Moses the directions were given for constructing the Tabernacle and it was built the priests and Levites were consecrated & they began their service in the Tabernacle. Now it is time for the people to journey to the Promised Land. The March Under the Law on Promise Road Off to a Good Start, Num. 8:20 Num. 9:15-23 But, then The Sin The Consequences Moses Prayer & The Result 11:1 11:1 11:2 11:4 11: :33 12:1-2 12: : :31-14:4 14:29,34 14:19-23 Israel s Mediator We have seen that, as the Israelites traveled down the Highway of Life, they sinned over and over again and deserved to be wiped out (Num. 14:11-12). The prayers of Moses, acting as a mediator between an angry God and a disobedient people, saved the people from the destruction they deserved.

The Christian s Mediator According to the Bible, all people deserve to be wiped out: Rom. 3:9-18 Rom. 6:23 But God did something for us that we will never be able to deserve: Rom. 5:8 Heb. 7:25 He provided us a mediator: 1 Tim. 2:5-6 Jesus stands between us and the anger of God for sin. Christ has taken our deserved punishment upon the cross and now when we receive Him as our Savior, God sees us in Him. Application: In addition to understanding that Jesus is our Mediator, there is another important truth that we can learn from the Israelite s bad example. Why do you suppose the Israelites got off to a good start, but had a lousy finish? Do you see parallels between your life and theirs? (consider both the physical and the spiritual realm) Strong starts combined with good finishes have always been a problem for us. Note your thoughts from these encouragement s that God gives us: Galatians 6:9 2 Cor. 4:16-18 Heb. 12:1-4 Phil. 4: Tim. 4:5-8 My Action Point from this Lesson is

Unit III Lesson #12 Joshua Leads to the Promised Land Bible Coverage: Joshua ch Guidepost Verse: Joshua 1:8 Dispensation: Law Exodus 19:3-8 During the 40 years of wandering, those who had murmured and disobeyed in the wilderness died (Numbers ch.13-14). After the death of Moses (Deut. 34) a leader was appointed (Deut. 34:9). His name was. He was chosen because he had shown his faith at Kadesh-Barnea when the unbelieving spies had feared to go into the land. The Promises God spoke to Joshua and made definite promises: Joshua 1:3 1:5 1:6 The Promises were conditioned by (Josh 1:7-8) The Conquest The crossing of the Jordan River (Josh 3:14-17) What happened? Battle of Jericho (Joshua ch 6) The instructions (v2-5) The action (v11-16,20) The battle (v21-24) Israel s incomplete obedience (Joshua ch 7) The sin (v1) The result (v2-5) Joshua s prayer (v6-9) The Lord s response (v10-13) The action taken (v14-15) The judgment (v16-26) Battle of Ai (Joshua ch 8) The instructions (v1-2) The action (v3-9)

The battle (v10-22) Joshua s partial failure (Joshua ch 9) The plan of the Gibeonites (v3-13) Joshua s failure (v14-16) _ The deceit is discovered (v17, 22-27) Battle of Gibeon (Joshua ch 10) The scene (v1-4,6) The instructions (v7-8) The battle (v9-14) There were many more skirmishes and battles. When obedient, the Israelites won great victories; when not completely obedient, there were lessor victories. Finally however, the greater part of the land was conquered even though all of the idolatrous people of the land were not put to death as God had commanded. We shall see later how these people caused trouble and sorrow for Israel. Application: As the Israelites had a promised place (the Promised Land), we also have a promised place were are journeying to day by day. It is referred to as (Eph 2:6). After we receive Christ as our Savior, God sees us as, spiritually, already seated in that place. As God helped Israel in the conquest of the Promised Land, he also provides the believer today with help to withstand Satan. Besides the believer and God, who else is in the heavenly places? (Eph 6:12) The weapons that God provides for us: (Eph 6:11-17) Helmet of Breastplate of Shield of Girded with Wear on your feet Sword of the Spirit, which is the These items all refer to What brought victory to the Israelites? What will bring victory to the Christian? My Action Point from this Lesson is

Lesson #13 Review Bible Coverage: Genesis to Joshua 1. Why is this study called the Highway of Life? 2. How would you describe God s grace? 3. What must we understand about death? 4. How are all of us affected by the sin of Adam & Eve? 5. Like Satan tempted Eve & Jesus, how does he tempt us? 6. Cain was described as a man of desire & Abel as a man of desire. 7. What lesson do we need to learn from the birth order of the first 2 sons (1 Cor 15:46-49) 8. What s the lesson of the Circle of Sin? 9. What made Enoch unique? 10. God taking of Enoch reminds us of 11. Until God takes us home, like Enoch we should 12. In your own words describe what you need to understand about Proverbs 14: As you examine Noah s life, what are some great examples you can follow? 14. What important truth must we understand about the ark and its one door compared with Jesus and the Cross? 15. As you compare what the Apostle Paul wrote about mankind at the Tower of Babel (Rom 1:18-32) with the way people are today, what do you conclude?

16. Looking back note the similarities and differences in the instructions God gave in each dispensation: Dispensation Instructions Similarities Differences Salvation By (Gen 1:28-31; 2:15-17) Innocence Multiply, tend garden, don t eat FTKE (Gen 3:7-21) Conscience Multiply, work, submit, sacrifice (Gen 8:15-9:17) Human Gov t Multiply, replenish earth, responsibility (Gen 12:1-3) Promise Leave & follow me (Exodus 19:3-8) Law Obey my voice, keep my covenant 17. What s the significant point we need to understand about what happened at the Tower of Babel? (Hint: look at the Highway of Life diagram and what happens to the road) 18. What are the 4 examples for living we can learn from the life of Jacob s son, Joseph? 19. What was God demonstrating through the plagues he worked through Moses in Egypt? 20. Why did God give the Law to Moses? 21. What application does the Law have for the believer today? 22. What do we need to understand from the events described in the book of Joshua?

Unit IV Lesson #14 From Promise Road to Kingdom Boulevard Bible Coverage: 1 Samuel ch 8 to 2 Samuel ch 6 Guidepost Verse: 1 Samuel 12:24 Dispensation: Law Exodus 19:3-8 In Lesson #12 we left the Israelites settling in the Promised Land. Each of the 12 tribes received an inheritance, which was a portion of the land. It is now about 307 years later. What usually happens as time passes and the number of people increase? When did this happen before? The Book of Judges ends with these words, In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes. The Demand for a King For 300 years God had raised up Judges to rule over Israel. Samuel, who was the present Judge, had become old, and the prospects of his sons ruling after his death did not please the people. Why? 1 Sam. 8:3-6 What demand did the people make? 1 Sam. 8:5-6 The Warning 1 Sam. 8:11-18 The Response of the Israelites 1 Sam. 8:19-20 Saul and David Contrasted (Unless otherwise indicated all references are in 1 Samuel) SAUL DAVID 9:2 16:12 13: :32 15:19 17:37, :11 18:1 18:8-9 24: :11 2 Sam 2:1 28:7 2 Sam 6:19 2 Sam 6:17-18

The Laws on Kingdom Boulevard From what you ve noted above indicate whether (1 Samuel 12:14) Saul and David (O) Obeyed or (D) Disobeyed Saul David Application: Why did Saul fail and David succeed? Because David obeyed, he was chosen by God to be one of the line of people through whom the Promised Redeemer would come. Note the similarities between what God expected of the Israelites (1 Sam 12:14) then and us today: 1. 2 Cor. 5: Col 3: Rom. 6: Thes. 4:2-7 My Action Point from this Lesson is

Unit IV Lesson #16 Captivity Detour Bible Coverage: 1 & 2 Kings 1& 2 Chronicles Guidepost Verse: 1 Samuel 12:24 Dispensation: Law Exodus 19:3-8 When God gave the Law and commandments to Israel, He told them that that blessings of rain & sunshine, peace & safety, and victory over enemies would be theirs if they would obey His commandments. But if they made idols and did not keep the Sabbaths, the curse of pestilence, death, wild beasts, desolation and finally defeat by their enemies would be theirs. (Lev. 26) Solomon knew all of these commandments, but as he grew older he and those who followed him became careless: The Wise King Who Became a Fool God s direction to Solomon 2 Chr 7:17-20 Solomon s actions when he became old: 1 Ki 11:1-3 1 Ki 11:4-8 The Result 1 Ki 11:9-13 The Young King Who Became a Fool, King of The problem 1 Ki 12:3-4 The advice 1 Ki 12:6-7 12:9-11 The decision 1 Ki 12:8,13-14 The result 1 Ki 12:16-20 The Rebel King Who Became a Fool, King of God s direction 1 Ki 11:29-38 The King s fear 1 Ki 12:26-27 His actions 1 Ki 12: :33-34

The Captivities During the years which followed there were 18 wicked kings which followed in the steps of Jeroboam. There were 18 kings and 1 queen which followed Rehoboam. Eight of the kings of Judah could be called good, but they could not undo all of the evil of the wicked ones. The wicked kings led the people into idolatry and other acts of disobedience against God. You cannot continue to sin against God without Him bringing judgment. God raised up the prophets to tell of the coming judgment, and finally it came. First the northern kingdom of Israel in 721 BC by the Assyrians: 2 Ki 17:1-23 Then the southern kingdom of Judah was taken captive by the Babylonians about 600 BC: 2 Ki 24: Ki 25:1-11 It doesn t matter what dispensation we live in, sin will always bring terrible consequences. It s foolish to continue to sin. Application: Even if a person gets off to a good start in their walk with the Lord, this lesson has shown that that is not enough. What s important is not only what you did, but what you re doing. And the keys to staying close to Christ and not becoming a fool are so simple, but so important: 2 Tim 2:15 1 Thes 5: Cor 5: Cor 5:20 2 Tim 4:7-8 My Action Point from this Lesson is

Unit IV Lesson #17 The Prophets See Two Mountain Peaks Bible Coverage: Kings thru Malachi Guidepost Verse: 1 Samuel 12:24 Dispensation: Law Exodus 19:3-8 The Prophets Two Conflicting Views The words of the prophets often posed great dilemmas for the people. Sometimes they spoke of the Messiah, the coming King as a suffering servant and a lamb of sacrifice brought to the altar. Other times the Promised One was described as a King whose reign would be everlasting and more glorious than Solomon. The Apostle Peter tells of this problem in 1 Peter 1:11 (underline in your Bible). The people could not understand how the Promised One could be both. But as we will see, it was absolutely necessary. Look up the following verses and indicate which refer to the suffering of Christ and which refer to His glory. Also indicate the particular aspect of His suffering or glory that is being described: Zechariah 11:12-13 Psalm 22: Chronicles 17:11-15 Psalm 2:6-8 Psalm 22:16-18 Micah 5:1-2 Isaiah 9:6-7 Isaiah 50:6 Isaiah 53:9 Daniel 7:13 Isaiah 53:9 Daniel 7:14 Psalm 16:8-11 Daniel 7:14 Psalm 69:21 Isaiah 53:4-6 Christ s Suffering Christ s Glory

Unit V Lesson #18 Behold, Here Comes Your King! Bible Coverage: Selections from the Gospels Guidepost Verse: 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Dispensation: Law Exodus 19:3-8 Last week we considered the view of the prophets who were the authoritative and infallible teachers of God s will. They were commissioned to warn the kings and the people of Israel and Judah to turn back to God from idols, but instead of listening to the prophets, the people persecuted them. Finally, after the captivities came upon Israel and Judah, the voice of the prophets was silenced and God did not communicate with His people for 400 years. But at the end of this time something wonderful began to happen. Imagine that you were alive at the time Jesus appeared on the scene. You are one of the Israelites and you are watching to see if He is really the Messiah who had been promised by the prophets and by God from the time of Adam. From the list of Bible references below indicate which prove: Jesus is the Son of God, the Promised King and the Savior from sin. Luke 1:30-33; Matt. 1:20-23 Matt. 8:23-27 Luke 2:8-14; Matt. 2:1-2,11 John 9:1-9, Matt. 3:1-3; 4:17 John 11:14-26; Matt. 3:13-17 Matt. 15:22-28 Matt. 8:2-4 Matt. 21:6-11 Verses Which Prove Jesus is the Son of God Verses Which Indicate Jesus is the Promised King

Now, let s look at the life of Jesus from a different perspective and see that the events and prophecies concerning His suffering are just as convincing. Match the Old Testament prophecies listed below with the New Testament verses which describe their fulfillment. Imagine the joy of His disciples. He showed Himself alive to over 500 people besides the Apostles and spoke to them concerning the promised Kingdom. God was going to give Israel a final test to prove their hearts. He would set up the Kingdom if they would only accept Jesus as their Messiah / King. In the past they turned from God when they chose a king and served idols; they crucified the Son of God; and now let s see what they did when the Holy Spirit was given. Jesus Resurrection Describe in your own words why the resurrection was necessary (see 1 Cor. 15:12-19) Jesus Ministry after the Resurrection Proof of His Resurrection (1 Cor. 15:5-8; John 21:12-14) His Message (Acts 1:3) The question of the Apostles (Acts 1:6) Was their question a legitimate one? God s desire was to use Israel as His representatives to share the Gospel with the Gentiles. Exodus 19:5-8 Zechariah 8:20-23 But with the Gentiles set aside at and the Jews set aside here because of their rejection of Jesus as the Promised Messiah, what will become of God s Plan and how will people be saved from their sins? 44 Unit V Lesson #21 Gentile Byway Joins Kingdom Blvd. Bible Coverage: Acts ch. 8-9 Guidepost Verse: 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Dispensation: Grace Ephesians 3:1-12 Word Association: All of the words below are in some way associated with the Highway of Life. Write in the space below what this word reminds you of. Refer to the Highway of Life chart if you need a reminder. 1. Confusion 2. Human Race 3. Gentile 4. Abraham 5. Jews 6. Promise 7. Kingdom To sum it all up, we look back to Confusion Corners where God gave up the human race, called Abraham, and made him promises concerning a nation and a Savior. Jesus Christ came as the Savior and the Promised King to establish the Kingdom. But the Israelites rejected the Savior and the offer of the Kingdom. Because of this God did something different and new from what He had revealed as His plan. When Stephen was being stoned there was a man standing by who has holding the garments of those who were throwing the stones. His name was Saul, a brilliant young Jew who had been a student of the best teachers of the day. He was fearless, honest and lived his life adhering very closely to the Law given to Moses because he thought this would please God and result in his salvation. Today we re going to look at Saul s life from the day Stephen was stoned and to see how God chose to work through his life and bring about a radical change, just like the plan He was beginning to reveal The Change in Saul: 1. Acts 9: Acts 9: Acts 9:7 4. Acts 9: Acts 9:10-17

6. Acts 9: Acts 9:23 8. Acts 9: Acts 9: Gal 1:11-19 It seems probable that Saul, who we know as Paul, was in Arabia between Acts 9:22-23 ( after many days ). The message which Paul received was something very special. God had chosen not to reveal it to the prophets of the Old Testament, or to the Twelve Apostles or their disciples, until it was revealed to Paul. We ll learn more about this new message in the next lesson. Application: Notice that when God called Saul to do a job, that He also equipped him for the work. The same is true today: Eph 2: Tim 2:15 2 Cor 5:18-20 Phil 2:12-13 My Action Point from this Lesson is

Unit V Lesson #22 Peter Crosses Over to the Gentile Byway Bible Coverage: Acts ch Guidepost Verse: 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Dispensation: Grace Ephesians 3:1-12 The Kingdom Key: Read Matthew 16: What was Peter given the keys to?. What was the purpose of the keys? How were they to be used? (Hint Acts 2:40-41; 5:12-14 ) At Pentecost, Peter preached a powerful sermon and 3,000 Jews trusted Jesus as their Messiah and Savior. Because of their faith, their way was also paid into the Promised Kingdom. Peter kept on preaching and using the keys, but he was preaching only to the Jews, because those were the instructions that God had given. But now, God is going to start something new and Peter must learn of the change. Today we ll see Peter using the keys of the Kingdom one more time in preparation for the change which God is revealing through the Apostle Paul. (All references here are to Acts chapter 10) Who was Cornelius? v1-2 _ What was Cornelius dream? v3-6 What was Peter s dream? v9-16 As Peter wondered about the dream, what did the Holy Spirit tell him to do? v19-20 What was the significance of the dream? v28 After hearing of Cornelius dream (v30-33) what was Peter s reaction? v34-35 Highlights of Peter s message: v36 Gospel sent by God to v39 The killed Jesus v40-41 Christ has from the dead v43 Through the name of Jesus

In v44-48 something amazing happens. While Peter was still speaking, the Holy Spirit came upon all who heard and they spoke in tongues and praised the Lord. The Jews who witnessed this were amazed because God had poured out His Spirit upon these Gentiles! When Peter went to Jerusalem, the Jewish believers there challenged him because he had gone to Gentiles, but when Peter told them what had happened and made it clear that is was God s doing and not his, when they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God saying, Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life. (Acts 11:18) Application: The Grace Key Today, we do not enter into Israel s Kingdom when we believe. We are saved by believing the message given to Paul by the risen Christ. This message is called The Gospel of the Grace of God (Acts 20:24). The Grace Key opens the door of salvation by faith so that those who believe become members of Christ s body, the Church. Their final destination is heaven, not earth (Ephesians 1:3; 2:4-7). And this is the Gospel, the Good News that people need to understand: 1 Cor 15:3-4 Romans 10:9 Eph 2:8-9 Make sure you ve heard and responded to the message and then share the Good News with others! 48 Unit VI Lesson #23 The Double Road from Gentile Byway to the Kingdom Bible Coverage: Acts ch Guidepost Verse: Ephesians 2:8-9 Dispensation: Grace Ephesians 3:1-12 Now we are at the place in our journey on the Highway of Life where Paul is called to his special ministry. We re going to look at four major confrontations which Paul experienced during his travels. Our journey begins about 10 years after Paul s conversion. He has been serving the Lord with Barnabas at the church in Antioch in Syria. While he was there the Holy Spirit directed the disciples to: (Acts 13:2) What was the work (Acts 9:15) Paul s Missionary Journeys: A. The town of Paphos on the island of Cyprus Acts 13:6-13 The Scene: The Outcome: This confrontation is significant because it reminds us of a greater truth (Hint Romans 11:25) Bar-jesus is a symbol of Paulus is a symbol of The event is symbolic of B. Antioch in Pisidia Acts 13:14-16; The Scene: The Outcome:

After his first missionary journey Paul and Silas went back to Antioch in Syria and reported all what had occurred (Acts 14:26-27). There was rejoicing as they reported that God had indeed opened the door of salvation to the Gentiles. Some time later they decided to take another trip to see how the new believers were progressing. C. Corinth Acts 18:1-11 The Scene: The Outcome: D. Rome Acts 28:16-31 The Scene: The Outcome: Notice that Paul went first to the synagogue in each city. God was giving the Jews every opportunity to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior, before passing judgment on them. But each time most of them refused to listen, and Paul turned to the Gentiles who listened and believed. Israel rejected God the Father (in the Old Testament), Jesus the Son (Gospels), and the ministry of the Holy Spirit (Acts) and now God s Kingdom Plan for Israel has been temporarily set aside while He works out His new, secret purpose having to do with the Church, the Body of Christ, during the dispensation of Grace. Application: As Paul encountered opposition in sharing the Good News we can expect it also. Here some points to keep in mind: Colossians 4:5-6 1 Peter 3:15 Romans 10:13-15 Romans 8:18 2 Tim 3:10-17 My Action Point from this Lesson is

Unit VI Lesson #24 Paul Pilots Salvation Jet Bible Coverage: Romans - Philemon Guidepost Verse: Ephesians 2:8-9 Dispensation: Grace Ephesians 3:1-12 Mystery What does the word mean? _ The Apostle Paul uses the word to describe: Romans 16:25 Ephesians 6:18-19 Colossians 1:25-27 Colossians 4:2-3 The Mystery Revealed (Ephesians 3:1-9) v2 The dispensation committed to Paul is Define dispensation Define grace v3 How did Paul learn of the mystery? v5,9 Was this information known by anyone before Paul? v7-9 What is Paul s duty? v9 How long has God known about the details of the Mystery? Unique Elements of the Mystery (The Age of Grace) [Based on Ephesians 4:4-6] Jew and Gentile are ONE BODY in Christ: Eph 3:6 Eph 2:11-18 Gal 6:15 Christ is the ONE HEAD and believers are members of the one body, the Church: Eph 5:23 Christ is the and the of the body Eph 5:30 We are of His body. (What does this mean?)

Eph 5:32 This is a concerning Christ and the. 1 Cor 12:12 By ONE SPIRIT are all baptized into one body: 1 Cor 12:13 Eph 4:4-5 There is ONE HOPE, the Rapture of the one body to be with Christ, the One head: Titus 2:13 1 Thes 4: Cor 15:51-52 Application: It has been said that, All of the Bible is FOR us, but not all of the Bible is addressed TO us. What do you think this means? Suppose you read this letter: Dear, I just wanted you to know I m coming Monday and I m bringing something for you! See you soon. Love, God If your name was written in the blank, what would your attitude be? If a friend s name was written in the blank, would your attitude be different? Why? Likewise, God revealed the Age of Grace to the Apostle Paul and his books (letters) contain the instructions and promises that are addressed to us. We study and read ALL of the Bible because it demonstrates God s love and faithfulness. But we don t claim the promises or follow the instructions that He has addressed to others. That s why we pay particular attention to the information in the Pauline Epistles. They are addressed to us as believers of the Age of Grace. My Action Point from this Lesson is

Unit VI Lesson #25 Through Tribulation Valley to the Kingdom Bible Coverage: Revelation Guidepost Verse: Ephesians 2:8-9 Dispensation: Grace Ephesians 3:1-12 Let s take one last look at God s plan for heaven and then we ll take a look at what He has planned for the earth. God s Plan for Heaven: When Israel rejected Jesus as their King, God introduced His secret purpose to call out a special group of people who would become members of His body and who would be wit Him in the heavenlies (Eph 2:6). This has been taking place during what we call the Dispensation of Grace. Let s review God s plan for us, the Body of Christ: Why did God choose us? (Eph 2:4) What did God do for us even though we are sinners? (Eph 2:5) What is our position in Christ? (Eph 2:6) How will God treat us in the ages to come? (Eph 2:7) What is God s gift to us? (Eph 2:8) For the moment, let s assume the rapture has taken place. God has taken the Church, the Body of Christ from the earth and has completed His plan for the heavenlies and all believers of the Age of Grace have been united with Christ. God s Plan for the Earth: Beginning with the promises to Abraham and all along the Promise Road we have heard of a King and a Kingdom that would someday come where there would be no more war, suffering or poverty. Instead, there would be peace, joy and delight. But this can only come through Israel s acceptance of their King the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore we come to the book of Revelation to see how God deals with Israel and all the others who are left behind in order to draw them to the Savior and King. The End Times Let s see what this time will be characterized by: What will happen during the 7 years of the Great Tribulation? Rev 6:12-17 (see also Joel 2 and Matthew 24:21-31) Do all people repent and turn to God? Rev 9:20-21

What will happen to the enemies of Christ: When He returns at the 2 nd Coming? Rev 19:20-21 At the end of the Millennial Kingdom? Rev 20:10-15 What will happen to Satan? When Christ returns at the 2 nd Coming? Rev 20:1-3 At the end of the Millennial Kingdom? Rev 20:10 Who will reign with Christ for a 1,000 years Rev 20:4 The Dispensation of the Kingdom With the enemies of Christ out of the way (Rev 19:20-21; 20:1-3), God can set up His Kingdom on the earth. This time is called the Millennium because we re told it will last for 1,000 years (Rev 20:6). This Kingdom was promised to Abraham and his descendants (the Israelites) and we know that God keeps His promises. He will establish His Kingdom on the earth with Jesus ruling on the throne of David. Let s see how the prophet Isaiah describes the Kingdom: Where will the kingdom be established? Isaiah 2:1-5 What kind of king will Jesus be? Isaiah 32:1 How will the animals behave? Isaiah 65:25 What city will be the capitol of the kingdom? Isaiah 62:1-3 The Dispensation of the Fullness of Time (Eternity Future) At the end of the Millennial Kingdom, Satan will be freed for a short time and he will once again, deceive many. A battle will take place (Rev 20:8-9) and God will destroy all that follow Satan and Satan will be cast into hell forever. Then all the unbelievers who had ever lived will be raised from the dead to stand before Jesus at the Great White Throne of Judgment (Rev 20:11-15). They will all be cast into hell where they will suffer for all eternity. The only glimpse we are given of Eternity Future is at: 2 Peter 3:10-13 Revelations chapters My Action Point from this Lesson is
