2 21 Days of Prayer Fasting and Focus 12 Even now, declares the LORD, return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. A Word from Prophetess Barbara Calloway Greetings in the name of our soon coming King, Jesus Christ! On Monday, January 2, 2017 January 22 nd we will once again begin a time of corporate prayer and fasting. This special time of Prayer, Fasting and Focus will be a time that we dedicate as to the Lord to hear from Him and be in alignment with His will for our lives. It s important to know that Prayer and Fasting does not change God s will, for His will is already established, rather Prayer and Fasting changes our hearts to accept and obey His will. Prayer and Fasting also releases breakthroughs in our life. For 2017, the Lord has given us The Year of Intentional Pursuit as our theme. The theme is taken from 1 Samuel 30:8 And David enquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. The only thing that is holding us back from receiving manifestation is being willing and being intentional in our pursuit. If you pursue, you will without doubt recover all. To go along with this theme, we also have the High Five Focus Points: Be Intentional, Be Prayerful, Be Purposeful, Be a Believer, and Be a Giver. 1) BE INTENTIONAL: Passionately pursue God s will for your life and do it on Purpose. 2) BE PRAYERFUL: Seek God consistently in prayer for His will and when you pray believe the things you have prayed for. Make intercession for others as you would yourself. 3) BE PURPOSEFUL: Make sure every day you get up on purpose with purpose. Do not waste time but make progress.

3 4) BE A BELIEVER: Believe God totally, trust Him in every area of your life. Believe His Word and take it at face value remembering that it s already done. 5) BE A GIVER: Find someone to bless by giving of your time, talent and treasure. Perform Random acts of kindness that will enlighten others. During this time of fasting we will reap the benefits of a more intimate relationship with others while developing more intimacy with our God! It is my desire and prayer that we will have massive participation than ever before during this time of fasting. God has made it available and possible for you to reach new levels and experience breakthrough in every area of your life. By walking out the High Five Focus, we will see God s hand at work in a SUPERNATURAL WAY! WE EXPECT REWARD & MANIFESTATION! WHAT IS A FAST? Many of us think of fasting as a spiritual duty to God, depriving ourselves of food and drink for a period of time in order to prove our love for Him. While long-suffering is a part of being human and certainly a part of being Christian, fasting should not be included when we think about suffering for Christ. On the contrary, fasting is less about what we re giving up and much more about what we re making room for. When we fast, we exchange what we need to survive for what we need to live more of God. HERE ARE FIVE SPIRITUAL BENEFITS TO FASTING: 1) A SOUL CLEANSING. How often we forget that our bodies are the temple of the Lord especially when deciding what to eat! Fasting is a great time to remember the spiritual connection we have to our physical bodies. Without the toxins we put in our bodies, we not only give our bodies a break from the digestive process, but we also allow our spirits to be detoxed. Fasting is a faith-move, an expectation we have that God will fill us with His Holy Spirit, just as He promised. But as Christ told His disciples, [N]o one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins. By fasting, we meditate cleanses the soul and makes it new so we can receive the Holy Spirit and become empowered to live for Christ in a new way.

4 2) A NEW DESIRE FOR GOD. When we acknowledge through fasting that we need God to live, and to live more abundantly, we can begin to desire God in a new way. When we realize we need God more than we need food, we can start to understand what the Psalmist meant when he wrote, Like the deer that pants after water, my soul longs for You. God, the sustainer of all life, wants nothing more than a closer connection with us, and through fasting we can quench that new desire for more of Him in our lives. 3) A DEEPER PRAISE. Because the body does not have to do the work of digestion, it has more energy to focus on other things. In the same vein, since we are not consumed by what we are going to eat next and when, we have more energy to devote to God. While we re experiencing a new desire for Him through fasting, we should also emit a deeper praise as we think about everything God is to us and all He has done. Once we get caught up in our desire for God and our praise for His mighty acts, we won t have time to be hungry or count down the hours until our fast is over. We ll be celebrating the whole time! 4) A SENSITIVITY TO GOD S VOICE. The New Testament prophetess Anna is praised in the Book of Luke for being a devoted servant to God and His temple. Because she regularly fasted and prayed, she was able to hear the voice of God speak clearly to her the day that Baby Jesus was brought into her temple to be dedicated. She knew He was the Christ and told everyone who would listen about His arrival. When we detox the spirit and become consumed with desire and praise for God, we become sensitive to His voice. Like Anna, when God speaks to us in the midst of chaos, we ll still be able to pick out His voice and know what He wants us to do because we have trained our ear to hear Him through fasting, prayer, study and praise. 5) A NEW SATISFACTION. When you finish your fast, renewed, full of energy, detoxed, with a new desire, a new praise and a sensitivity to God s voice, you ll find that the absence of food was small in comparison to what you gained. When Christ s disciples noticed that He hadn t eaten all day and tried to get Him to slow down to eat, Christ said, I have food to eat that you know nothing about. My food is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work.

5 LET S GET READY FOR A FRESH START! Below are ten areas that will help us unify during the 21 Days of Prayer, Fasting and Focus 1. Participate each day in the fast refrain from eating until 3:00 PM. However, we encourage you to be mindful of medical conditions and follow doctor s orders as it pertains to fasting. 2. You may eat fruits, vegetables, chicken and fish (prepared any way except fried). Avoid sugar, starch and sweets. 3. CONNECT DAILY MON. SUN. Pray and Believe for the increase of souls into The Kingdom of God. 6. Connect with a PURSUE PARTNER in order to encourage and keep one another accountable to and determined to end the fast strong! 7. Youth and Children should abstain from one meal, video games or fast until noon, observing all other guidelines. 8. Married couples should agree on fasting and Biblical guidelines should apply as a couple. (1Corinthians 7:5) 9. Refrain as much as possible from carnal pleasures such as TV (unless Christian TV), Social Media, excessive telephone calls, or texting. Focus only on spiritual things. 10. Prepare a Financial Breakthrough Seed! This seed is to be sown to BCM during anytime of the Fast as the Lord leads you or at the end of the Fast. We ask that you pray and seek God as to what you should give as your personal seed. Remember, it is just about the seed but the heart and mind, and how you sow it. DON T FORGET TO NAME YOUR SEED!

6 SCRIPTURES ON FASTING Matthew 6:16-18 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. Acts 14:23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed. Luke 2:37 And she [was] a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served [God] with fastings and prayers night and day. Mark 9:29 And he said unto them, this kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. Joel 2:12 Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye [even] to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning. FOCUS POINTS DURING FAST 1. The Incoming of our new President and Cabinet 2. Relationships Marriages, Family, Children, Singles, Friends, Church Family 3. Wisdom to make healthy and beneficial decisions 4. Living Purposefully and Progressively in the will of God 5. Divine Health mentally, physically and emotionally 6. Activation of gifts and callings, resulting in more ministries being birthed! 7. Financial Growth and Divine Favor 8. Five Fold Ministry (Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers) FASTING CONFESSION Father, I commit this time of fasting to you. I commit to honor you and draw closer to you in order to obey your will for my life. Daily I will pray and read your word in order to not fulfill my fleshly desires. My heart is open to be cleansed, molded and shaped into what you would have it to be. I confess that I open myself up to Psalm 139:23-24 (Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way. I confess that this year I will intentionally pursue Your will. I confess that Your strength and grace is more than enough to assist me. I confess that spirits that are not like you will be destroyed off of my life. I confess that I will strive to BE INTENTIONAL, BE PRAYERFUL, BE PURPOSEFUL, BE A BELIEVER AND ALSO BE A GIVER. Thank you in advance for drawing me closer to you during this time and showing me how to live a life that is more focused and pleasing in your sight in Jesus s name, Amen!
