HOW TO USE THIS PRAYER GUIDE Welcome to our 30 days of prayer for Our desire is that God would use this time to stir in our hearts a deeper passion for Him, each other, and our community. Along with this prayer guide we are asking that you join us on Sunday mornings at 10am, in the Education Bldg. and on Tuesday mornings at 5:30am, in the Parlor, for focused times of prayer. This guide is designed for use in one of two ways. If you already have a set rhythm prayer that you can incorporate the bullet point for prayer in what you regularly do. If, however, you do not have an established rhythm of prayer this guide can help you. The opening reading each day is a passage of Scripture which you can briefly meditate on. Perhaps consider using of these two questions to help you begin your time of prayer: What does this passage show me about my God? What does this passage show me about myself, and my need for God? having begun with God then you can turn to the daily petitions. Finally, you can use the concluding prayer to end your time each day. Thanks for joining us in prayer! Easter,

Sunday: 3/27 EASTER SUNDAY WEEK 1 Blessed are you, Lord God of our salvation, to you be praise and glory for ever. As once you led your people through the waters from slavery in Egypt to freedom in the promised land, now you have delivered us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of your beloved Son. Rising from death, he has destroyed death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life. May we, the first fruits of your new creation, rejoice in this new day you have made and praise you for your mighty acts. Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Monday: 3/28 Psalm Praise the LORD. Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the saints. 2 Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. 3 Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp. 4 For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation. 5 Let the saints rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds. 6 May the praise of God be in their mouths and a doubleedged sword in their hands, 7 to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, 8 to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, 9 to carry out the sentence written against them. This is the glory of all his saints. Praise the LORD. 1. for the Lord to give you a heart that is willing to support the work of LOPC to the best of your ability with your time, money, and resources. 2. for our church as we experience spiritual warfare. Ask the Lord to protect our church as we seek to serve our community and each other. Pray that God would allow the churches in Lake Worth to be able to confront the spiritual forces of evil in our city, community, and county. 3. that the Lord would help us to work towards unity as a body. That we would be able to enjoy that unity in the midst of all the diversity we currently have. Prayer based on Psalm 8 Lord, our Lord, you are so awesome! You are beyond what we can imagine possible. When we take a look at all that you have done and all that you have made, we wonder why you care for people like us. You have given us an honorable position on this earth of ours to care for the things you have made, to preserve them and maintain them. You have entrusted living things to us! Lord, our Lord, the whole earth recognizes how awesome you are! Amen. 3

According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1. for fathers and mothers to teach their children about the Lord (his love, his ways, how he would call us to serve him). 2. that the Lord would heal broken families in our community. 3. for the children who find themselves in foster homes, group homes, and safe houses in our county. 4. for the body of Christ to love, protect, and to be involved in the lives of those children who have been removed from their homes. 5. that you can be an agent of racial reconciliation. 15 WEEK 4 Sunday: 4/17 Acts 2 14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 22 "Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. 23 This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross. 24 But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. 25 David said about him: "'I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. 26 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will live in hope, 27 because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. 28 You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.' 1. for seekers and cynics who will be in worship with us: that the Lord will meet them and draw them to himself. 2. for those who will be leading in worship. 3. that you will find true rest for your heart and mind in the Lord on this day. Prayer based on 1 Peter 2:11-12: Father I ask that you would allow me, as an alien and stranger in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against my soul. Help me to live such a good life among unbelievers that they might see my good deeds and glorify you. Monday: 4/18 1 Peter 2 -- But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. 12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation. 1. for RENEW South Florida - the organization that we are partnering with to help plant churches in South Florida. 2. for Ron Perry who will be planting a cross-cultural church in the Northwood neighborhood of West Palm Beach. 15

3. For people to volunteer to serve as after school tutors in our community. Prayer based on 1 Peter 2:11-12: Father I ask that you would allow me, as an alien and stranger in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against my soul. Help me to live such a good life among unbelievers that they might see my good deeds and glorify you. Tuesday: 4/19 1 Peter 4 -- Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. 2 As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. 3 For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do-- living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. 4 They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you. 5 But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to men in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit. 7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. 8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1. for God to give you a spirit willing to show hospitality to others and to keep you from a spirit that wants to entertain, but rather to serve (see v.9). 2. for the opportunity to use your gifts to serve the church here at LOPC and the Kingdom of God at large (see v.10). 3. for the children s ministry, the youth ministry, and the adult discipleship opportunities taking place tonight. Prayer based on 1 Peter 2:11-12: Father I ask that you would allow me, as an alien and stranger in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against my soul. Help me to live such a good life among unbelievers that they might see my good deeds and glorify you. Wednesday: 4/20 1 Peter 1 -- Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 16

who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1. that the Lord will give you a humble heart to follow Him no matter the cost. 2. for the salvation of the lost (Ask God to add people to LOPC this year as a result of our evangelism). 3. that the Lord will bring people with the gift of evangelism to our church. 4. for our church as we experience spiritual warfare. Ask the Lord to protect our church as we seek to serve our community and each other. Pray that God would allow the churches in Lake Worth to be able to confront the spiritual forces of evil in our city, community, and county. 5. that the Lord would help us to work towards unity as a body. That we would be able to enjoy that unity in the midst of all the diversity we currently have. Prayer based on 1 Peter 2:11-12: Father I ask that you would allow me, as an alien and stranger in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against my soul. Help me to live such a good life among unbelievers that they might see my good deeds and glorify you. Thursday: 4/21 Psalm Praise the LORD, all you servants of the LORD who minister by night in the house of the LORD. 2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD. 3 May the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth, bless you from Zion. 1. that God would help you watch and pray so that you do not fall into temptation (Matt. 26:41). 2. that God would give you a heart of compassion for those who are hurting with emotional needs, physical needs, and spiritual needs. 3. that you will find true rest for your heart and mind in the Lord on this day. 4. that you can be an agent of racial reconciliation. Ask the Lord to bring new people of other races/ethnicities into your life as friends. Amen. Friday: 4/22 17

Psalm Praise the LORD. Praise the name of the LORD; praise him, you servants of the LORD, 2 you who minister in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God. 3 Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant. 4 For the LORD has chosen Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession. 5 I know that the LORD is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods. 6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths. 7 He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses. 14 For the LORD will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants. 15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men. 1. for our relationship with Guatemalan-Maya Center, that opportunities to work together would emerge. That we would see evangelistic fruit as a result of our working together. 2. for our ESL program, that more students would come to the classes, that the devotionals would spark spiritual interest in the students. 3. for our ESL teachers, that they would be able to develop relationships with the students and have opportunities to share their faith. 4. for the development of an Immigration Ministry. For our volunteers to get the training and hours of internship they need, for relationships with lawyers in the community, for the process of getting approval from the government to provide this service. Amen. Saturday: 4/23 Psalm Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. 2 Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. 3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, 4 praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, 5 praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. 6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD. 1. for worship tomorrow morning: that the Lord would prepare your heart and the hearts of all who will be there to hear his word. 2. for children in worship: that the Lord would impress upon them his love at an early age. Prayer based on Psalm 8 Lord, our Lord, you are so awesome! You are beyond what we can imagine possible. When we take a look at all that you have done and all that you have made, we wonder why you care for 18

people like us. You have given us an honorable position on this earth of ours to care for the things you have made, to preserve them and maintain them. You have entrusted living things to us! Lord, our Lord, the whole earth recognizes how awesome you are! Amen. 19

WEEK 5 Sunday: 4/24 Revelation Then a voice came from the throne, saying: "Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both small and great!" 6 Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: "Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. 7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. 8 Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear." (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.) 9 Then the angel said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!'" And he added, "These are the true words of God." 1. for seekers and cynics who will be in worship with us: that the Lord will meet them and draw them to himself. 2. for those who will be leading in worship. 3. for Pastor Omar as he travels to Cuba tomorrow to help train church leaders in Havana. Amen. Monday: 4/25 Psalm For the director of music. Of David. A psalm. O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD. 5 You hem me in-- behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. 7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? 8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. 9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. 11 If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me," 12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. 1. that the Lord will give you confidence in his presence that is always with you. 2. praise God for his faithfulness to you in helping you complete these 30 days of prayer. 20

Amen. 21
