1 Satan Origin, Nature and Destruction Angels Fallen & Elect 2 Corinthians 2:11 AMP, To keep Satan from getting the advantage over us; for we are not ignorant of his wiles and intentions. - What we don t know can have an adverse effect upon our lives - What we misunderstand also can have dire consequences as well - We need to understand our enemy through Scripture so we won t be caught off guard - Satan is a defeated foe, the only weapon he has against us is deception 2 Corinthians 11:3, But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. We see three arch-angels or high ranking angles in Scriptures, and it is only these three whose names are mentioned in Scripture: - Michael- the warring angel, who in particular protects Israel- Daniel 10:13; Rev. 12:7 o Jude 9 Michael disputing with the devil over the body of Moses - Gabriel- the carrier of God s message- mentioned in Daniel 9:21 o Luke 1:19, 26- proclaimed the coming of John to Zechariah and Jesus to Mary - Lucifer (Morning Star)- Isaiah 14:12 o Stars are a Biblical reference to angels o Sons of God is another reference made in Genesis 6:2-4- Job 38:7 in KJV version God said in Job 38:7, while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy? The Creation and fall of Lucifer The two Biblical accounts of the origin of Lucifer are found in Isaiah and Ezekiel. In both references, the prophet by inspiration of the Spirit had prophesied in what we call a double reference: Isaiah - King of Babylon - Isaiah 14: Lucifer- Isaiah 14: King of Babylon - Isaiah 14:16-20 Ezekiel - Prince of Tyre- Ezekiel 28: King of Tyre- Ezekiel 28:11-19

2 First of all from a timetable standpoint what we are about to read is before Adam and Eve. We know this because when Satan was in the Garden of Eden, he was in his fallen state! - Please Read: Isaiah 14: Morning Star or Lucifer speaks that he was the most glorious of all God s angels - Apparently staged a rebellion or coup to dethrone God, fueled by pride & vanity - He was promptly cast down to the earth in full view of the nations - Please Read: Ezekiel 28: The creation before Adam and Eve, was known as Eden the garden of God - Lucifer has a beginning, was a created being, originally was the model of perfection o Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty- 2 Cor. 11:14- Appears as an angel of light - Anointed guardian cherub- High ranking angel - Was blameless from the day he was created until wickedness was found in him o Widespread trade - his self-willed agenda of self-promotion and self-exaltation - The original sin- His heart became proud on account of his beauty and splendor 1 Timothy 3:6, He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. - Ezekiel 28:17 So I threw you to the earth o Luke 10:18- He replied, I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. - Did you notice the other part of Ezekiel 28:17 I made of spectacle of you before kings. - Notice also verse 19, All the nations who knew you are appalled at you - Hum, kings and nations before Adam and Eve who had witnessed the fall of Lucifer o Who are these folks, because they are not part of the human race - Apparently Lucifer was able to convince 1/3 of the angels to follow him at the time Revelation 12:3-4, Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads. His tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. - Lucifer- (Used Once)- Morning Star- his name given him by God before his fall - Satan - (Used 56 times)- The Adversary the thief kill steal and destroy John 10:10 - Devil- (Used 33 times)- The Accuser and Slanderer Serpent- Deceitfulness(2 Cor. 11:3), Dragon- powerful(rev. 20:2), Beelzebub- Prince of the demons(mt. 10:25), Tempter- Seduction to sin(1 Th. 3:5), Wicked, Evil or Lawless One- Speaks of his character(mt. 13:19), Prince of this World- His rule and influence(john 16:11), Deceiver- It s what he does(rev. 20:10), Accuser- Ceaseless contesting(rev. 12:10),, Murderer- Source and instigator of death(john 8:44), Father of Lies- All he does(john 8:44), Roaring Lion- Fierceness to devour(1 Peter 5:8), Destroyer- Handiwork(Rev. 9:11)

3 Fallen Angels & Nephilim Giants in the Bible - Noah was only nine generations removed from Adam- who had lived 930 years 1 Chronicles 1:1-3, Adam, Seth, Enosh, Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, Noah. - His father, Lamech, was 56 years old at the time of Adam s death - So approximately 1,656 years from Adam-Flood; between billion people alive o - Please Read: Genesis 6:1-4 Genesis 6:4 AMP, Concerning the Nephilim existed in those days before the flood and also afterward after the flood. Nephilim (Hebrew)- A bully, tyrant, or giant - Recall that the term Sons of God in the Old Testament referred to angels- Job 1:6 KJV These ancient heroes or giants became the gods of the heathen neighbors of Israel and Greek mythology. The fact that giants were partly of supernatural origin made it easy for men to regard them as demigods. Josephus, an ancient Jewish Historian around the time of Jesus said, Many angels of God accompanied with women, and begat sons that proved unjust, and despisers of all that was good, on account of their own strength these men did what resembled the acts of those whom the Grecians called giants. Again he says, There was till then left the race of giants, who had bodies so large, and countenances so entirely different from other men, that they were surprising to the sight, and terrible to the hearing. We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them. - 1 Samuel 17:4-7- Goliath was over 9 feet tall- wore scale armor around 194lbs - 2 Samuel 21: a decedent of Rephaim(Sons of the Giant)- 6 fingers and 6 toes - 1 Chronicles 20:4-8- decedents of Rapha in Gath of the Philistines - For fallen angels to cohabitate with women carried a high price when that line was crossed Jude 6-7, And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.

4 - Satan is not hell like many believe with red skin, cloven hooves and a pitch fork- Job 1:6-7 - Ephesians 2:2 KJV- prince of the power of the air o NIV- Ruler of the Kingdom of the air - 1 Corinthians 2:6- the Rulers of this Age - 2 Corinthians 4:4- the god of this age ; Luke 4:5-6- stole dominion from Adam - Ephesians 3:10- the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms - 2 Thessalonians 2:7- For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work - Gen. 3:15- Ever since the fall of man, Satan was trying to stop the coming Savior- void Word Ephesians 6:10-12, Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. - AMP translations: master spirits and world rulers of this present darkness o Wicked spirits in heavenly places- speaking of the earth s atmosphere 1 st heaven Daniel 10:20-21 So he said, "Do you know why I have come to you? Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come; but first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth. (No one supports me against them except Michael, your prince. - The real nasty ones are kept bound in the abyss Revelation 9:15, And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. Revelation 9:1-2, 11, The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon. Revelation 12:7-9, And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. 5 Elect Angels - Like us they are created beings who had their time of testing before Adam and Eve o 1/3 rebelled and 2/3 remained faithful - Angels are highly intelligent, powerful, rational beings with a will - 1 Pet. 1:12 o 2 Peter 2:11, yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful - Angels play a major role in God s kingdom from Genesis Revelation o They serve God s purpose in the earth by serving us - The worship of angels are forbidden- Colossians 2:18; Revelation 22:8-9-test of an elect angel - There are a countless number of elect angels in existence- Revelations 5:11; Matthew 26:53 - Rev. 5:11, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. - Angels respond only to our faith in God s Word in order to fulfill it Psalms 103:20 NASB, Bless the Lord, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, obeying the voice of His word! Hebrews 1:14, Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? - They can look like regular people Hebrews 13:2-3, Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. - Many serve as guardian angels- assigned to each of us to for our protection Psalms 91:11-12, For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. Matthew 18:10, See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. - There are other classifications of angels that serve God in Heaven - Cherubim occurs around 73 times in the Bible- appear to have wings- Ezekiel 10 o Overshadowed the mercy seat of the ark of the covenant Heb. 9:5- Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory, overshadowing the atonement cover. Genesis 3:24, After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life. - Seraphim- Please Read: Isaiah 6:1-8

He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, "Cornelius!" Cornelius stared at him in fear. "What is it, Lord?" he asked. The angel answered, "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God. Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Peter. Then the Lord opened the servant's eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
