5 BJBE POST CARPOOL CLUB BRUNCH AND A MOVIE SUNDAY, JUNE 24 TH 10:30 AM AT BJBE Join our merry band of mature members and friends of BJBE for Brunch and a special showing of the Israeli film the Women s Balcony, with a lively discussion lead by Rabbi Jason Fenster. "The Women's Balcony" is an eccentric portrait of a devout community suddenly under pressure from a super Orthodox rabbi to observe their faith in a more rigid way. This movie is in Hebrew with subtitles. Come ENJOY THE FOOD, FELLOWSHIP, MOVIE, and DISCUSSION, and please invite your friends to join us! When the women s balcony in an Orthodox synagogue collapses, leaving the rabbi in shock and his wife in a coma, the congregation falls into crisis. Charismatic young Rabbi David appears to be a savior after the accident, but slowly starts pushing his fundamentalist ways and tries to take control, testing the women s friendships and creating a rift between the community s women and men. 6 ENJOY A SUMMER EVENING UNDER THE STARS WITH GREAT MUSIC, FOOD, AND THE POSTCARPOOL CLUB Tuesday, July 3 rd RIO BAMBA Hot Summer Nights on the Esplanade program begins at 6PM. Come early and enjoy the Botanic Garden. Rio Bamba performs an exciting blend of Brazilian, Latin, and American jazz, featuring a blend of bosa nova, samba, American, and Latin jazz. If you do not have a Botanic Garden sticker for free entry, let me know and I will try to connect you with someone else attending who is a member. Bring your own dinner and beverage. We will provide dessert. Some chairs are available. You may want to bring your own Sunday, July 22 nd Chicago Symphony Orchestra Tchaikovsky Spectacular including the 1812 Overture with cannons. Meet us at Ravinia when the gates open at 3:00PM. The concert begins at 5:00PM. Bring your own main course, beverage, chairs, and table for your picnic, and either an appetizer, side dish, or dessert to share with others in attendance. When you arrive at the park, please take the path to the left of the theater (you will be facing it after you enter the gate) follow the path down to the corner where the paths cross just before the Pavilion. We will be on the corner to the left of the Pavilion, near the wine cart and restroom. If you came last summer, it is the same corner. Lawn admission tickets are $10.00 each or you may choose to picnic with us pre-concert and enjoy pavilion seats ($25) BJBE WILL NOT ARRANGE FOR RAVINIA TICKETS.
