Welcome by our representative and assistance with arrival formalities. Panoramic bus tour along Andrassy Avenue and visit Heroes' Square, one of Budapest's best known landmarks. Check into the hotel and free time to refresh and prepare for Shabbat. Kabbalat Shabbat services with a local Reform congregation. Shabbat dinner with members of the local Jewish community. Overnight: Budapest DAY THREE SATURDAY, JUNE 25, 2016 SHABBAT IN BUDAPEST LaDa'at Focus Hungarian Jewry - Past, Present, Future - with your tour educator. Drive through the city and across the river. Ascend Castle Hill to view Budapest from atop the Fisherman's Bastion. Walk through the enormous enclosed market, where you can find anything from fruits and vegetables to souvenirs. Lunch on your own. Guided walk through downtown Budapest and the sprawling boulevards of Budapest, including Freedom Square and a special tour of the Hungarian Parliament building. Stop at the Shoes on the Danube Promenade, a memorial created by Gyula Pauer and Can Togay on the Pest side of the Danube, honoring the Jews killed by the fascist Arrow Cross militants during World War II; the memorial represents the shoes left behind on the river bank as they fell into the river after being shot. Havdallah program with young Jewish leaders participating in The Jewish Agency's MiNYanim project, The Jewish Agency Regional Jewish Leadership Project for alumni of Taglit-Birthright or Masa in Bulgaria, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia, Poland, and Moscow who continue Jewish and Israel studies, combined with community activism, over two years. Minyanim encourages dozens of young Jews each year to engage with local and global Jewish communities. Special dinner cruise on the Danube. Overnight: Budapest DAY FOUR SUNDAY, JUNE 26, 2016 JEWISH LIFE IN BUDAPEST Breakfast at the hotel and check out. LaDa'at Focus Contemporary Jewish life in Hungary - How Did We Get Here?: Dialogue with Professor Michael Miller, Associate Professor of the Nationalism Studies Program at the Central European University. Explore the Story of Jewish Budapest over the past 150 Years, including visits to: The Dohany Street Synagogue, the largest in Europe. The Jewish Museum, housed on the site of Theodor Herzl's birth. The Community Holocaust Memorial. Lunch on your own in the Jewish Quarter. Depart Budapest and driver to Vienna, the capital of Austria. Panoramic orientation tour of the city upon arrival - view the Hofberg Palace, once the seat of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Belvedere Palace, Prater Amusement Park, the UN Buildings and St. Peter's Cathedral. Check into the hotel. We highly recommend taking a stroll along the "ring" of Vienna (just over 2 miles - about an hour long walk) to get a feeling for the city. Overnight: Vienna DAY FIVE MONDAY, JUNE 27, 2016 EXPLORING VIENNA Visit the Rossauer Cemetery, the oldest Jewish cemetery in

5 Vienna dating back to the 16th century and whose tombs were renovated after World War II. Visit the Jewish Museum of Vienna in Palai Eskeles and Museum Judenplatz, which offers a modern presentation of the history of Viennese Jewry. Stop at the Memorial to Austrian Holocaust Victims. Visit the Vienna Temple (Stadtempel), the only surviving synagogue from pre-wwii days, located near the Judenplatz, the main square of the Jewish community for nearly 500 years. Explore the Naschmarkt, Vienna's most popular market. Lunch on your own at the Naschmarkt. Visit the Schonbrunn Palace, the former imperial summer residence of the Habsburg monarchs, and its surrounding gardens. Return to the hotel. Overnight: Vienna DAY SIX TUESDAY, JUNE 28, 2016 THE GRANDEUR OF JEWISH PRAGUE Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Depart Vienna and drive to Prague. Arrive in Prague and stop at Vysehrad Fortress for a panoramic view of the city. Lunch on your own en route. LaDa'at Focus The Jewish Community of Prague - A Millennium of Complex Coexistence, with your tour educator. Guided visit through Jewish Prague, including the Old Ghetto and the Precious Legacy Exhibit at the Jewish Museum, which encompasses the Altneu Shul, the Maisel Synagogue, the Pincus Synagogue, the Old Cemetery and the Spanish Synagogue. Take a boat ride on the Vltava River. Overnight: Prague DAY EIGHT THURSDAY, JUNE 30, 2016 MEMORY & CONTINUITY Visit Terezin, the town that was turned into a ghetto and concentration camp, including the Historical Museum and the Art Exhibits, the so-called Hidden Synagogue and the Crematorium. Packed lunch en route. Memorial service at Terezin. Return to Prague. Attend a concert at the Spanish Synagogue. Overnight: Prague

6 DAY NINE FRIDAY, JULY 1, 2016 REBUILDING ON PAST DESTRUCTION Depart Prague and drive north to Dresden, which is wellknown for being heavily bombed in World War II. Arrive in Dresden and view its unique reconstructed landmarks such as the Zwinger, the Semper Opera, and the renovated Church of our Lady (Frauenkirche). Lunch on your own in Dresden. Depart Dresden and continue to Berlin. LaDa'at Focus The Enigma that is Berlin: Introduction to Berlin: Orientation: dialogue with your tour educator. Arrive in Berlin and check into the hotel. Depart the hotel for Shabbat services. Kabbalat Shabbat services with a local Progressive congregation. Shabbat dinner at a restaurant with members of the local Jewish community. Overnight: Berlin DAY TEN SATURDAY, JULY 2, 2016 BERLIN - PAST & PRESENT Explore Berlin's rich history on a tour of East Berlin, including: Visit Alexander Platz, the city center of former Socialist East Berlin. View the St. Nikolai-Kirche, (St. Nicholas' Church) the oldest church in Berlin. Walk along Unter Den Linden, the grand central boulevard in the Mitte district. View the famous Humboldt University and visit the Book Burning Memorial at Bebel Square. Visit the Boros Collection, a private collection of contemporary art by international artists dating from 1990 to the present. Different facets of the collection have been on public display since 2008 in a converted bunker. Lunch on your own en route and continue with touring to: The Brandenburg Gate, originally commissioned by Friedrich Wilhelm II to represent peace, the gate was ironically incorporated into the Berlin Wall during the years of the Communist regime. Perhaps Berlin's best known landmark, it now stands as a symbol of the city's reunification. The Holocaust Memorial, the Monument to the Murdered Jews of Europe - designed by architect Peter Eisenman, this undulating field of reflection with thousands of concrete dark gray slabs forms a gentle wave, ankle-high in some places, designed to give visitors a sense of groundlessness and of a loss of orientation; the memorial also includes a subterranean information center at the edge of the site which houses a permanent exhibition dedicated to the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust. Guide tour of the Reichstag, the seat of the German Parliament and one of Berlin's most significant landmarks. Return to the hotel. Ben Kodesh Lechol: Havdallah. Overnight: Berlin DAY ELEVEN SUNDAY, JULY 3, 2016 JEWISH LIFE IN BERLIN LaDa'at Focus: The Distinguished Jews of Berlin: Introduction by your tour educator. Walk along Grosse Hamburger Strasse, once the center of Berlin Jewry. Visit the New Synagogue and the Centrum Judaicum, one of the most important locations for contemporary Jewish life in Berlin. Tour to Jewish sites in East Berlin including: The Hackescher Markt The Jewish Cemetery, including Moses Mendelsson's grave The site of the Women's Protest on Rosenenstreasse Lunch on your own en route. Visit the Museum of Otto Weidt's Workshop for the Blind, a haven for Jews during the Holocaust years in Berlin. Guided visit to the Jewish Museum of Berlin, designed by architect Daniel Libeskind. One of the most conspicuous architectural landmarks in the city, it embodies remembrance, melancholy, and departure. Visit Checkpoint Charlie, one of the best known crossing points between East and West Berlin during the Cold War. Return to the hotel. Overnight: Berlin DAY TWELVE MONDAY, JULY 4, 2016 A PASSAGE THROUGH TIME Drive to Potsdam, the capital of the federal state of Brandenburg and the former residence of the Prussian kings and German Kaisers. LaDa'at Focus Looking Backwards and Looking Forward with your tour educator. Guided tour of the city including the Glienicke Bridge, used during the Cold War for exchanging spies, and other famous sites. Visit Abraham Geiger College, the first liberal rabbinical seminary in Continental Europe since the Holocaust, and meet with a faculty member. Lunch on your own in Potsdam. Guided visit to the Villa in Wannsee, site of the infamous "Final Solution" conference, including a private introduction to the house with staff of the Wannsee Conference Educational and Memorial Site. Memorial service at Gleis 17 (Track 17) in the neighborhood of Grunewald, the main deportation center for Berlin Jews during the Holocaust. Return to the hotel. Farewell dinner and group reflection at a restaurant. Overnight: Berlin DAY THIRTEEN TUESDAY, JULY 5, 2016 RETURN TO THE USA Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
