6 A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Abu Abdullah Al Barqy, from Al Hassan Bin Abu Qatada, from a man, from Jameel Bin Darraj who said, Abu Abdullah asws said: The people cannot enjoy pleasure in the world and the Hereafter with anything more pleasurable for them than the pleasure of the women, and these are the Words of Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic: It has been adorned for the people, the love of desires, from the women and the sons [3:14] up to the end of the Verse. ث ق ال و إ ن أ ه ل ا ل ن ة م ا ي ت ل ذ ذ ون ب ش يء م ن ا ل ن ة أ ش ه ى ع ن د ه م م ن الن ك اح ل ط ع ام و ل ش ر اب. Then he asws said: And the people of the Paradise would not be enjoying with anything more desirous with them than the الن ك اح (marriage), neither the food nor the drink. 3 Types of Nikah: ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن الن و ف ل ي ع ن الس ك و ن ع ن أ ب ع ب د الل ه ( عليه السالم ) ق ال ب ي اث و ن ك اح ب ال م ي اث و ن ك اح م ل ك ال ي م ي. ي ل ال ف ر ب ث ال ث ن ك ا ح Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Al Nowfaly, from Al Sakuny, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: The private parts (relationship with woman) are Made to be Permissible by three conditions a marriage by Nikah (inheritance), and a (temporary) marriage without inheritance (Mutah where inherence is not transferred), and a marriage by the possession of the right hand (slave girl). 4 We will cover the first two types, as the third one is not in practice in our time. Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Al Fazl Bin ShAzaan, from Safwan Bin Yahya, (It has been narrated) from Abu Al-Hassan Ali asws Bin Musa Al-Reza asws having said: A slave will not benefit with a benefit better than a righteous wife. Whenever he looks at her she delights him, and whenever he is absent from her, she preserves him (his interests) with regards to herself and his wealth. 6 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ]ع ن أ ب يه [ ع ن ص ال ح ب ن الس ن د ي ع ن ج ع ف ر ب ن ب ش ي ع ن ع ل ي ب ن أ ب ح ز ة ع ن أ ب ب ص ي ع ن أ ب ع ب د الل ه ( عليه السالم ) ق ال أ ت ى ر س ول الل ه ( صلى اهلل عليه وآله ) ش اب م ن ا ل ن ص ار ف ش ك ا إ ل ي ه ا ل اج ة ف ق ال ل ه ت ز و Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Salih Bin Al Sandy, from Ja far Bin Basheer, from Ali Bin Abu Hamza, from Abu Baseer, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: A youth from the Helpers came over to Rasool-Allah saww, so he complained to him of the destitution. So he saww said to him: Get married. ف ق ال الش اب إ ن ل س ت ح ي ي أ ن أ ع ود إ ل ر س ول الل ه ( صلى اهلل عليه وآله ) ف ل ح ق ه ر ج ل م ن ا ل ن ص ار ف ق ال إ ن ل ب ن تاا و س يم ةا ف ز و ج ه ا إ ي اه ق ال ف و س ع الل ه ع ل ي ه ]ق ال ] ف أ ت ى الش اب الن ب ( صلى اهلل عليه وآله ) ف أ خ ب ر ه ف ق ال ر س ول الل ه ( صلى اهلل عليه وآله ) ي ا م ع ش ر الش ب اب ع ل ي ك م ب ال ب اه. So the youth said, I am too embarrassed that I should repeat to Rasool- Allah saww. So a man from the Helpers met him and said, I have a beautiful daughter. So he married her to him. So Allah azwj Expanded (sustenance) upon him. So the youth came over to the Prophet saww and informed him saww. So Rasool-Allah saww said: O group of youths! You must get married. 7 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن اب ن أ ب ع م ي ع ن أ ب ان ب ن ع ث م ان ع ن ح ر يز ع ن و ل يد ب ن ص ب يح ع ن أ ب ع ب د الل ه ( عليه السالم ) ق ال م ن ت ر ك الت ز و يج م اف ة ال ع ي ل ة ف ق د أ س اء ب الل ه الظ ن. Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, from Moalla Bin Muhammad, from Mansour Bin Al Abbas, from Shuayb Bin Janah, from Matar, a slave of Ma an, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: There are three wherein is rest for the Believer a spacious house veiling his privacy and the evilness of his state from the people, and a righteous woman who supports him upon the affairs of the world and the Hereafter, and a daughter whom he brings out either due to death or her marriage. 9 Disadvantages of remaining un-married: For Men: ع ل ي ب ن م م د ب ن ب ن د ار و غ ي ر ه ع ن أ ح د ب ن أ ب ع ب د الل ه ال ب ر ق ي ع ن اب ن ف ض ال و ج ع ف ر ب ن م م د ع ن اب ن ال ق د اح ع ن أ ب ع ب د الل ه ( عليه السالم ) ق ال ج اء ر ج ل إ ل أ ب ع ب د الل ه ( عليه السالم ) ف ق ال ل ه ه ل ل ك م ن ز و ج ة ف ق ال ل ف ق ا ل أ ب و م ا أ ح ب أ ن ل الد ن ي ا و م ا ف يه ا و أ ن ب ت ل ي ل ةا و ل ي س ت ل ز و ج ة Ali Bin Muhammad Bin Bundar and someone else, from Ahmad Bin Abu Abdullah Al Barqy, from Ibn Fazzal and Ja far Bin Muhammad, from Ibn Al Qaddah, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws, said, A man came over to Abu Abdullah asws so he asws said to him: Is there a wife for you? So he said, No. So he asws said: My asws father asws said: And I asws would not like it if the world and whatever is in it was to be for me asws, and I asws spend one night and there is no wife for me asws. ث ق ال الر ك ع ت ان ي ص ل يه م ا ر ج ل م ت ز و أ ف ض ل م ن ر ج ل أ ع ز ب ي ق وم ل ي ل ه و ي ص وم ن ه ار ه ث أ ع ط اه أ ب س ب ع ة د ن ان ي ث ق ا ل ل ه ت ز و ب ذ ه ث ق ال أ ب ق ال ر س ول الل ه ( صلى اهلل عليه وآله ) ا ت ذ وا ا ل ه ل ف إ ن ه أ ر ز ق ل ك م. Then he asws said: The two Cycles Prayed by a married man is superior than a celibate man (unmarried) who stands during the night (for Prayer) and Fasts during his day. Then he asws gave him seven Dinars, then said to him: Get married with these. 9 In another tradition, Rasool Allah saww, said, The unmarried would make a large proportion of the inhabitants of hell. 11 For Women: م م د ب ن ي ي ع ن أ ح د ب ن م م د ع ن اب ن م ب وب ع ن ع ل ي ب ن ر ئ اب ع ن اب ن أ ب ي ع ف ور ع ن أ ب ع ب د الل ه ( عليه السالم ) ق ال ن ه ى ر س ول الل ه ( صلى اهلل عليه وآله ) الن س اء أ ن ي ت ب ت ل ن و ي ع ط ل ن أ ن ف س ه ن م ن ا ل ز و ا. Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ibn Mahboub, from Ali Bin Raib, from Ibn Abu Yafour, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: Rasool-Allah saww forbade the women that they be celibates and delay themselves from the marriage. 12 ي ن ب ي ل ل م ر أ ة أ ن ت ع ط ل ء ع ن م م د ب ن م س ل م ع ن أ ب ج ع ف ر ( عليه السالم ) ق ال ل ن ف س ه ا و ل و اب ن م ب وب ع ن ال ع ال ت ع ل ق ف ع ن ق ه ا ق ال د ةا و ل ي ن ب ي أ ن ت د ع ي د ه ا م ن ا ل ض اب و ل و ت س ح ه ا م س حاا ب ا ل ن اء و إ ن ك ان ت م س ن ةا. Ibn Mahboub, from Al A ala, from Muhammad Bin Muslim, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja far asws having said: It is not befitting for the woman that she neglects herself, even if she attaches a necklace in her neck, nor is it befitting that she leaves her hand from the dyeing even if she wipes it with a touch with henna, even if she was old. 13 ع د ة م ن أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن أ ح د ب ن أ ب ع ب د الل ه ع ن ع ب د الص م د ب ن ب ش ي ق ال د خ ل ت ام ر أ ة ع ل ى أ ب ع ب د الل ه ( عليه ع ن د ك ق ال ت ل أ ت ز و ق ال و ل ق ال ت أ ل ت م س ب ذ ل ك السالم ) ف ق ال ت أ ص ل ح ك الل ه إ ن ام ر أ ة م ت ب ت ل ة ف ق ال و م ا الت ب ت ل ال ف ض ل ف ق ال ان ص ر ف ف ل و ك ان ذ ل ك ف ض اال ل ك ان ت ف اط م ة ( عليه السالم ) أ ح ق ب ه م ن ك إ ن ه ل ي س أ ح د ي س ب ق ه ا إ ل ال ف ض ل. A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Abu Abdullah,from Abdul Samad Bin Basheer who said, A woman came over to Abu Abdullah asws, so she said, May Allah azwj Keep you asws well! I am a celibate woman. So he asws said: And what is the celibacy with you? She said, I do not get married. He asws said: And why (not)? She said, I seek the merit by that. He asws said: Leave! Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Mallik Bin Asheym, from one of his men, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: Amir Al- Momineen asws said: Marry a brunette (nor very white nor too dark), of large eyes (and) buttocks, of a medium stature, so if you dislike her, then her dowry would be upon me asws. 15 م م د ب ن ي ي ع ن م م د ب ن أ ب ال ق اس م ع ن أ ب يه ر ف ع ه ع ن أ ب و ال م ر أ ة الس و ء اء ت ه ي ج ال م ر ة الس و د اء. ال ب ل م ع ب د الل ه ( عليه السالم ) ق ال ال م ر أ ة ا ل م يل ة ت ق ط ع Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Abu Al Qasim, from his father, (It has been narrated) raising it from Abu Abdullah asws having said: The beautiful woman cuts the phlegm and the terrible woman stirs the black bile. 16 ع د ة م ن أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن أ ح د ب ن م م د ع ن ع ث م ان ب ن ع يس ى ع ن ع ب د الل ه ب ن م س ك ان ع ن ب ع ض أ ص ح اب ه ق ال س ع ت أ ب ا ع ب د الل ه ( عليه السالم ) ي ق ول إ ن ا ال م ر أ ة ق ال د ة ف ان ظ ر إ ل م ا ت ق ل د ه A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Usman Bin Isa, from Abdullah Bin Muskan, from one of his companions who said, I heard Abu Abdullah asws saying: But rather, the woman is a necklace, therefore consider what you would be wearing. ه ي ي س خ ط ر ه ا الذ ه ب و ال ف ض ة ب ل ق ال و س ع ت ه ي ق ول ل ي س ل ل م ر أ ة خ ط ر ل ل ص ا ل ت ه ن و ل ل ط ا ل ت ه ن أ م ا ص ا ل ت ه ن ف ل خ ي ر م ن الذ ه ب و ال ف ض ة و أ م ا ط ا ل ت ه ن ف ل ي س الت ر اب خ ط ر ه ا ب ل الت ر اب خ ي ر م ن ه ا. He (the narrator) said, And I heard him asws saying: No value can be placed for the woman, neither a righteous one nor a wicked one. And by his chain, said: Rasool-Allah saww said: Marry the matches and marry among them, and choose for your seed (mother of your children). 19 He asws و ب إ س ن اد ه ق ال ق ام ر س ول الل ه ( صلى اهلل عليه وآله ) خ ط يباا ف ق ال أ ي ه ا الن اس إ ي اك م و خ ض ر اء الد م ن ق يل ي ا ر س ول الل ه و م ا خ ض ر اء الد م ن ق ال ال م ر أ ة ا ل س ن اء ف م ن ب ت الس و ء. And by his chain, He asws said: Rasool-Allah saww stood up to address, so he saww said: O you people! Beware of the green (plant growing in) the dump (filth)! It was said, O Rasool-Allah saww! And what is the green (plant growing in) the dump (filth)? He saww said: The beautiful woman grown up in the evil (environment). 20 Marry for Religion and not for wealth and beauty: ع د ة م ن أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن س ه ل ب ن ز ي اد ع ن ع ل ي ب ن أ س ب اط ع ن ع م ه ي ع ق وب ب ن س ا ل ع ن م م د ب ن م س ل م ق ال ق ال أ ب و ج ع ف ر ( عليه السالم ) أ ت ى ر ج ل الن ب ( صلى اهلل عليه وآله ) ي س ت أ م ر ه ف الن ك اح ف ق ال ل ه ر س ول الل ه ( صلى اهلل عليه وآله ) ان ك ح و ع ل ي ك ب ذ ات الد ين ت ر ب ت ي د اك. A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, form Ali Bin Asbaat, from his uncle Yaqoub Bin Salim, from Muhammad Bin Muslim who said, Abu Ja far asws said: A man came over to the Prophet saww for instructions regarding the marriage. I have a daughter of an uncle whose beauty I am pleased with, and her gracefulness, and her Religion, but she is barren. So he saww said: Do not marry her. Yusuf as Bin Yaqoub as met his as brother, so he asws said, O my brother, how did you marry the women after me as? So he said, My father as instructed me and said: Try to the extent of your ability that there should be offspring for you who would make the earth heavy with the Glorification (of Allah azwj ) So I did. ق ال ف ج اء ر ج ل م ن ال د إ ل الن ب ( صلى اهلل عليه وآله ) ف ق ال ل ه م ث ل ذ ل ك ف ق ال ل ه ت ز و س و ء اء و ل ودا ف إ ن م كاث ر ب ك م ا ل م م ي و م ال ق ي ام ة ق ال ف ق ل ت ل ب ع ب د الل ه ( عليه السالم ) م ا الس و ء اء ق ال ال ق ب يح ة. He asws said: A man came the next day to the Prophet saww, so he said similar to that. So he saww said to him: Marry the child-bearing unfamiliar one, for I saww would express pride with you all with the community on the Day of Judgement. A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Ali Bin Saeed Al Raqqy, from Suleyman Bin Ja far Al Ja fary, (It has been narrated) from Abu Al-Hassan Al-Reza asws having said: Rasool- Allah saww said to a man: Marry ء اء س و the child-bearing one, but do not marry a good looking barren woman, for I saww would be priding with you all (among) the communities on the Day of Judgement; or do you not know that the children are seeking Forgiveness for their parents beneath the Throne. So he asws said to me: Consider where you are placing yourself and the one you are associating in your wealth, and aspiring to be upon your Religion, and your secrets. The women are of various etiquettes so from them is the beneficial, and the loss maker, and from them is the crescent shining for her companion, and from them is the darkness. They are three (types) A child bearing woman of cordiality and supportive of her husband all the time for his world and his Hereafter, and she does not spend time against him; and a sterile (barren) woman, not with any beauty nor manners, and she does not assist her husband upon goodness; and a vociferous (loud) woman, a fault-finder, belittling the lot, and not accepting the little. 26 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن الن و ف ل ي ع ن الس ك و ن ع ن أ ب ع ب د الل ه ( عليه السالم ) ق ال عليه وآله ) أ ف ض ل ن س اء أ م ت أ ص ب ح ه ن و ج هاا و أ ق ل ه ن م ه را. ق ال ر س ول الل ه ( صلى اهلل Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Al Nowfaly, from Al Sakuny, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah asws having said: Rasool-Allah saww said: The best woman of my saww community is the one who is with a beautiful face and of a small dowry. 27 ع د ة م ن أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن أ ح د ب ن م م د ال ب ر ق ي ع ن إ س اع يل ب ن م ه ر ان ع ن س ل ي م ان ا ل ع ف ر ي ع ن أ ب ا ل س ن الر ض ا ( عليه السالم ) ق ال ق ال أ م ي ال م ؤ م ن ي ( عليه السالم ) خ ي ر ن س ائ ك م ا ل م س ق يل ي ا أ م ي ال م ؤ م ن ي و م ا ا ل م س ق ال ا ل ي ن ة الل ي ن ة ال م ؤ ات ي ة ال ت إ ذ ا غ ض ب ز و ج ه ا ل ت ك ت ح ل ب م ض ح ت ي ر ض ى و إ ذ ا غ اب ع ن ه ا ز و ج ه ا ح ف ظ ت ه ف غ ي ب ت ه ف ت ل ك ع ام ل م ن ع م ال الل ه و ع ام ل الل ه ل ي يب. A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Al Barqy, from Ismail Bin Mihran, from Suleyman Al Ja fary, (It has been narrated) from Abu Al-Hassan Al-Reza asws having said: Amir Al- Momineen asws said: The best of your women have five (qualities). It was said, O Amir Al-Momineen asws! And what are the five? A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad and Muhammad Bin Yaha, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad and Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, altogether from Ibn Mahboub, form Ali Bin Raib, from Abu Hamza, from Jabir Bin Abdullah who said, I heard him asws saying: Rasool-Allah saww said: Shall I inform you all with the most evil of your women? (She is the one who is) the disgraced among her family, and (despite being) dear with her husband, she is the sterile, the vengeful, who does not have any qualms from ugliness, the welcoming (to others) whenever her husband is absent from her, the one who is reserved when she is with him; whenever he is present she does not listen to his words nor does she obey his instructions; and whenever he husband is alone with her she prevents him just like the stubborn animal prevents from being ridden, not accepting any excuses from him nor forgiving any of his mistakes. 35 Falling in Love is a Wrath of Allah azwj : حدثنا ممد بن على ماجيلويه رضى اهلل عنه قال: حدثنا عمي ممد بن أىب القاسم عن ممد بن علي الكو ف عن ممد بن سنان عن املفضل بن عمر قال: سألت أبا عبد اهلل جعفر بن ممد الصادق " ع " عن العشق فقال قلوب خلت من ذكر اهلل فاذاقها اهلل حب غ يه. He asws said: There is no command with her with her father. 19 He (the narrator) said, And he asws was asked about a man who wanted to get his sister married off. I love the children. So Abu Abdullah asws said to him: So what is it that you do? He said, I carry them upon my back. So Abu Abdullah asws placed his asws hand upon his forehead and turned his asws face away from him. 20 So Umar (the narrator) said, So the man said (afterwards), I went to my city and bought a camel, and I tied it down with an intense tying, and took the sword, so I struck the hump with it with a strike, and then took the skin off it, and I sat upon it with its heat. Jihad of a man is making his wealth and soul available until he is killed in the way of Allah azwj. Jihad of a woman is exercising patience when facing hardships caused by her husband and because of his showing strong al-ghirah (protective feelings) for her. Abu Ali Al Ashary, from Muhammad Bin Hassan, from Al Husayn Bin Muhammad Al Nowfaly, from a son of Nowfal Bin Abdul Muttalib, from Muhammad Bin Ja far, from Muhammad Bin Ali Bin Isa, from Abdullah Ao Umary, from his father, from his grandfather who said, Amir Al-Momineen asws said regarding the illness which hits the children, so he asws said: It is an expiation (Kufara) for its parent s (sins). 45 أ ب و ع ل ي ا ل ش ع ر ي ع ن ا ل س ن ب ن ع ل ي ب ن ع ب د الل ه ع ن ع ب ي س ب ن ه ش ام ع ن ر ج ل م ن أ ص ح اب ه ع ن أ ب ع ب د الل ه ع ق ا ل د خ ل ع ل ي ه ر ج ل ي ب يع الد ق يق ف ق ال إ ي اك و ال ش ف إ ن م ن غ ش غ ش ف م ال ه ف إ ن ل ي ك ن ل ه م ال غ ش ف أ ه ل ه Abu Ali al-ash'ariy has narrated from al-hassan ibn Ali ibn 'Abd Allah from Ubays ibn Hisham from a man of his people who has said: Once, a man who sold flour came before Abu Abd Allah asws. The Imam asws said to him: Beware of cheating; one who cheats in matters of properties, cheating takes place in his properties, if he does not have any property cheating takes place in his family (wife). 46 Never marry daughter to a wine Drinker ع د ة م ن أ ص ح اب ن ا ع ن أ ح د ب ن م م د ر ف ع ه ق ال ق ال أ ب و ع ب د الل ه ( عليه السالم ) م ن ز و ك ر ي ت ه م ن ش ار ب ا ل م ر ف ق د ق ط ع ر ح ه ا. I said, May I be sacrificed for you asws! Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ibn Fazzal, from Ali Bin Yaqoub, from Marwan Bin Muslim, from Al Husayn Bin Musa Al Hannat, from Al Fuzayl Bin Yasaar who said, I said to Abu Abdullah asws, My wife has a sister who is known to be upon our view (Wilayah), and there are not upon our view in Al-Basra except for a few, so can I marry her to the one who does not agree with her view (faith)? He asws said: No, and there is neither a Blessing nor a prestige. Allah azwj Mighty and Majestic is Saying. [60:10] do not send them back to the unbelievers, neither are these (women) lawful for them, nor are those (men) lawful for them. 52 ع ل ي ب ن إ ب ر اه يم ع ن أ ب يه ع ن اب ن أ ب ع م ي ع ن ج يل ب ن د ر ا ع ن ز ر ار ة ق ال ق ل ت ل ب ج ع ف ر ( عليه السالم ) إ ن أ خ ش ى أ ن ل ي ل ل أ ن أ ت ز و م ن ل ي ك ن ع ل ى أ م ر ي ف ق ال م ا ي ن ع ك م ن ال ب ل ه م ن الن س اء ق ل ت و م ا ال ب ل ه ق ال ه ن ال م س ت ض ع ف ات م ن الال ت ل ي ن ص ب و ل ي ع ر ف ن م ا أ ن ت م ع ل ي ه. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Jameel Bin Darraj, from Zurara who said, I said to Abu Ja far asws, I fear that it is not Permissible for me that I marry the one who does not happen to be upon my matter (Wilayah). So he asws said: What is preventing you from the simple ones from the women? I said, And what is the simple one? 24 I asked Abu Abdullah asws about the Hostile one (Nasibi) whose hostility is recognised, as well as his enmity. Can we get the Believing woman to marry him, and he (the guardian of the woman) is able to reject his proposal, and he (the Nasibi) cannot prove his righteous beliefs. He asws said: Neither can the Believer marry the hostile woman (Nasibi), nor can the hostile one (Nasibi) marry the believing woman, nor can the believing woman marry the weak ones. 54 أ ح د ب ن م م د ع ن ا ل س ن ب ن ع ل ي ب ن ف ض ال ع ن ي ون س ب ن ي ع ق وب ع ن ح ر ان ب ن أ ع ي ق ال ك ان ب ع ض أ ه ل ه ي ر ي د الت ز و يج ف ل م ي د ام ر أ ةا م س ل م ةا م و اف ق ةا ف ذ ك ر ت ذ ل ك ل ب ع ب د الل ه ( عليه السالم ) ف ق ال أ ي ن أ ن ت م ن ال ب ل ه ال ذ ين ل ي ع ر ف ون ش ي ئاا. Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al Hassan Bin Ali Bin Fazzal, from Yunus Bin Yaqoub, from Humran Bin Ayn who said, One of his family members wanted to get married but he could not find a compatible Muslim woman. I fear that it may to be Permissible for me that I marry, meaning from the one who do not happen to be upon his asws matter (Wilayah). He asws said: What prevents you from the simple ones from the women?
