6 FEATURED ARTICLE Why was I tested? Why? Why? Why? Why could I never get what I want? Quran answers: Do men think that they will be left alone saying, We believe, and that they will not be tested? We did test those before them, and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false. [29:2-3] But I can t take it anymore! Quran answers: and never give up hope of Allah s Soothing Mercy; truly No one despairs of Allah s Soothing Mercy except those who have no faith. Surah Yusuf [9:87] & Despairs not of the Quran answers: It is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and that you love a thing, which is bad for you. But Allah knows, while you know not. [2:216] To whom can I depend? Quran answers: (Allah) suffices me: there is no god but He: On Him is my trust- He the Lord of the Throne (of Glory) Supreme. [9:129] Why was I burdened this way? Quran answers: Allah does not place a burden to a soul greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. Surah Al-Baqarah [2:286] & So verily, with every difficulty there is relief: (repeated) Verily, with every difficulty there is relief. [94:5-6] How can I face it? Mercy of Allah: for Allah forgives All sins for He is Often- Forgiving, Most Merciful. [39:53] Why do I lose hope? Quran answers: So lose not heart, nor fall into despair Surah Al-Imran [3:139] Quran answers: O you who believe! Persevere in patience and constancy; compete in such perseverance; strengthen each other; and fear Allah that you may prosper. Surah Al-Imran [3:200] & And seek (Allah s) help with patience, perseverance and prayer: It is indeed hard, except to those who bring a humbly submissive (to Allah). [2:45] What do I get for all these? Quran answers: Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and properties (in exchange) for that they will have the garden (of Paradise) [9:111] 6

Memorize the meaning so you can reflect upon it Cut below for use What the Khateeb says when he begins his Juma Khutbah There are two Azhans for the Friday Prayer. The first Azhan is recited at the commencement of the Jum ah (zhuhr) time and the second adhan is recited just before the Imam stands up to deliver his khutbah. The khutbah (sermon) consists of two parts: FIRST PART: The Imam begins by saying: A`uuzhu billaahi min-ash-shaitaanir-rajeem, Bismillaa-hir rahmaanir-raheem I seek refuge in Allah from the cursed Shaitan, In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful Alhamdu lillaahi nahmaduhu wa nasta eenuhu wa nastaghfiruhu wa nu minu bihi wa natawakkalu alaih. Wa na uuzhu Billaahi min shuruuri anfusinaa wamin sayyi aati a maalina. All praise is due to Allah. We laud Him, we beseech help from Him and ask His protection; we confide in Him, we trust Him alone and we seek protection against the evils and mischief of our souls and from the bad results of our deeds. May yahdihillaahu falaa mudilla lahu, wa may yudlilhu falaa haadiya lah. Whomsoever He guides on the right path, none can misguide him; and whosoever He declares misled, none can guide him onto the right path. Wa nash hadu allaa ilaaha illallaahu wahdahu laa shariika lahu wa nash-hadu anna Muhammadan abduhuu wa Rasuuluh. Ibaadallah rahima-kumullaah. And we bear witness that none deserves to be worshipped except Allah. He is alone and has no partner. We bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. O servants of Allah! May Allah be merciful to you. 8

9 Innallaaha ya muru bil adli wal-ihsaani wa eetaa i zhil-qurbaa. wa yanhaa anil fahshaa i wal- munkari wal-baghyi, Ya i dhukum la allakum ta-dhak-karuun. Verily, Allah commands you to act with justice, to confer benefits upon each other and to do good to others as one does to one s kindred and forbids evil which pertain to your own selves and evils which affect others and prohibits revolts against a lawful authority. He warns you against being unmindful. Uzhkurrullaah yazh-kur-kum, wad uuhu yastajib lakum. Wa la dhikrullaahi akbar. You remember Allah; He too will remember you; call Him and He will make a response to your call. And verily divine remembrance is the highest virtue. SECOND PART: After delivering the first part of the sermon, the Imam sits down for a short while, then stands up again and says: Alhamdu lillaahi rabbil aalameen. Was-salaatu was-salaamu alaa rasulinaa Muhammadin-ameen, wa- alaa aalihee, wa sahbihee, aj-ma een. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the Worlds; may the greetings and peace be upon the best messenger, Muhammad, and upon his family and upon all of his companions. In-nallaaha wa malaa ikata yusalluuna alan-nabee. Yaa ay-yuhal-lazheena aamanu sallu alayhi wasallimu tasleemaa. Behold, Allah and his angels shower blessings on the Prophet. O you who believe! Ask for blessings on him, and salute him with a worthy greeting. Allaahumma salli alaa Muhammad, wa alaa aali Muhammad, kamaa sallayta alaa Ibraaheem, wa alaa aali Ibraaheem. Allaa-humma baarik aala Muhammad, wa alaa aali Muhammad, kama baarakta alaa Ibraaheem, wa alaa aali ibraaheem Fil aala-meen, innaka hameedum majeed. O Allah! Send your greetings upon Muhammad and his family, just as you sent your greetings on Abraham, and his family. O Allah, send your blessings on Muhammad and his family, just as you blessed Abraham and his family. In both worlds, you are praiseworthy and exalted. He replied: To gladden the heart of a human being, to feed the hungry, to help the afflicted, to lighten the sorrow of the sorrowful, and to remove the wrongs of the injured [Hadiith] Assalaamu Alaykum WaRahmatullahi WaBarakatahu, April 25th, 2015 Seven Point Eight (7.8) Magnitude Earthquake, which devastated the city of Kathmandu, is now causing deadly aftershocks; and as a result has increased the mortality rate to 2,300. This new quake, measuring in at 6.7, might be significantly smaller, but the traumatized people of Nepal remain in a state of panic and increasing those injured to 4,600. This second quake is reported closer to Mount Everest where 17 climbers have perished due to avalanches resulted from the quake. HHRD's Emergency Response Program has initiated from the Disaster Management and Logistics Center (DMLC) in Rawat, Pakistan. Packing of medicine, medical supplies, and other relief items are currently in progress at the DMLC. Moreover a team of HHRD has been formed consisting of 8 professionals including physicians, orthopedics, physiotherapist, and relief workers are ready to move on to Kathmandu, Nepal. HHRD has established a "Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund", and through the existing vetted & partner NGOs in the region, HHRD will provide the emergency relief services. An estimated 4.6 million people in the region were exposed to tremors, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs The people of Nepal and the region around it need our help; they have lost their homes, loved ones, and their lives. Please continue to pray for their safety and help us help them. 16 Sadaqah in the Form of Sacrifice Protect Yourself from Calamity Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, Give the Sadaqah without delay for it stands in the way of calamity. (Tirmidhi #1887) The Prophet (pbuh) also said, The most excellent sadaqah consists in your satisfying a hungry stomach. (Tirmidhi #1946) For most of us, meat is a common part of our diet - often times we even have several different types of meat in a single meal. However, for so many others in the world, a meal including meat is a luxury that they seldom enjoy. Hidaya Foundation performs Sadaqah in the form of Sacrifice on behalf of our donors and the meat is distributed to the poor, most of whom would not be able to eat meat otherwise. Usually the sacrifice is performed within a few days of request from the donor. It costs $120 for a goat/sheep, and $420 for an ox/ buffalo. That includes the cost to purchase the animal, the actual sacrifice, preparing the meat into evenly portioned bags, and distributing the meat among the poor.
