Ayah 69 Qaloo odaau lana rabbaka yubayyin lana ma lawnuha qala innahu yaqoolu innaha baqaratun safrao faqiaaun lawnuha tasurru alnnathireen Statement 70 a. They continued seeking details and said: b. 'Call on your RABB one last time to make clear to us what exactly the cow is to be like. c. To us all cows resemble one another. d. Thus if ALLAH so wills, we shall be rightly guided.' Ayah 70 Qaloo odaau lana rabbaka yubayyin lana ma hiya inna albaqara tashabaha AAalayna wa-inna in shaa Allahu lamuhtadoona Statement 71 a. Moses answered, b. 'HE says: c. it is to be a cow that is neither harnessed to plough the land nor to water the agricultural fields. d. The cow should be free of all defects and blemish.' e. Then they said: f. 'At last you have now told us the right description.' g. Thereupon, they sacrificed the cow although they had almost declined to do so. Statement 72 a. When they Israelites had slain a person and then argued to cast the blame for this crime on one another. b. ALLAH brought to light whatever you had concealed. 2 Statement 73 a. WE ordered: b. 'Strike the slain person with a piece of it - the slaughtered cow.' c. In this way ALLAH brought the dead to life. d. ALLAH showed you HIS miraculous signs so that you may understand and learn to use reason. Statement 74 a. And yet, after all this, your hearts hardened as rocks or even harder. b. There are rocks from which water streams flow; c. There are some from which - when they are split open - fresh water springs out. d. And, yet there are rocks that sink down out of awe for ALLAH. e. ALLAH is not oblivious of all that you perceive and all that you do. Statement 75 a. Are you so keen for them to believe in Islam for your sake, b. while a group of them have already heard the Word of ALLAH in the Qura'n. c. Having studied it and understood it, they distort it and they do so intentionally. 3 Statement 76 a. While being with Muslim Faithful, they declare: b. 'We believe as you do.' c. But when some of them go off they would strongly reproach one another for overdoing their pretence of belief saying: d. 'do you have to share with them what ALLAH has revealed to you by way of Torah believing that as long as they did not divulge their true convictions to the Muslims publicly, they would succeed in concealing them from ALLAH? e. The Muslims may use it as evidence to indict us before your RABB - the Lord Supreme. f. Don't you have any sense? Ayah 76 Wa-itha laqoo allatheena amanoo qaloo amanna waitha khala baaaduhum ila baaadin qaloo atuhaddithoonahu m bima fataha Allahu AAalaykum liyuhajjookum bihi AAinda rabbikum afala taaaqiloon Statement 77 a. Do they really not realize that b. ALLAH has full knowledge of anything, everything c. whatever they conceal, and d. whatever they reveal? Ayah 77 Awa la yaaalamoona anna Allaha yaaalamu ma yusirroona wama yuaalinoon Statement 78 a. There is one group of people amongst them who is virtually illiterate. b. They are ignorant of their own Divine scriptures. c. They know of nothing but wishful hopes and vague conjectures presuming that Jews will gain eternal salvation on the fallacious premise of being the chosen people whose sins are forgiven and deliverance guaranteed. 4 Statement 79 a. Then, there is another group of people who exploit this ignorance by fake(ing) the text and manipulate interpretation of the Divine scriptures with their own hands, and, then, b. they claim: 'This is from ALLAH.' c. They say so in order to make some petty economic and political gains. d. It shall be too bad for them for what their hands have written. e. Woeful shall be any gain that they may acquire from it. Statement 80 a. The Israelites claim: b. 'The Hellfire will certainly not touch us except for only a few days.' c. Ask them: d. 'Have you received a promise to this effect from ALLAH for e. ALLAH shall never break HIS promise. f. Or, are you merely attributing to ALLAH about which you really do not know?' Statement 81 a. Surely, those men and women, young and old who commit evil as well as propagate evil b. become engrossed in sinful environment c. shall be the People of the Hellfire. d. They shall remain there forever. Ayah 79 Fawaylun lillatheena yaktuboona alkitaba biaydeehim thumma yaqooloona hatha min AAindi Allahi liyashtaroo bihi thamanan qaleelan fawaylun lahum mimma katabat aydeehim wawaylun lahum mimma yaksiboon Ayah 80 Waqaloo lan tamassana alnnaru illa ayyaman maaadoodatan qul attakhathtum AAinda Allahi AAahdan falan yukhlifa Allahu AAahdahu am taqooloona AAala Allahi ma la taaalamoon Ayah 81 Bala man kasaba sayyi-atan waahatat bihi khatee-atuhu faola-ika as-habu alnnari hum feeha khalidoon 80 English Paraphrasing by Badr Hashemi Page 32

While those who attain the Faith of Islam, b. do righteous deeds by making best endeavors to shape their personal lives and social behavior in accordance with the principles of this Faith, c. they are the People of the Garden of Paradise. d. They shall live there forever. Ayah 82 Waallatheena amanoo waaaamiloo alssalihati ola-ika as-habu aljannati hum feeha khalidoon Statement 83 a. When WE made a covenant with Israelites: b. never to submit in worshipful obedience to anyone except ALLAH; c. be kind to: - the parents, - the near relatives, - the orphans and, - the destitute; d. speak in a polite and courteous manner to all people; e. establish the Prayers; and, f. pay the obligatory zakat charitable donations for welfare of the community. g. And yet, you broke the covenant except for a very few. h. Indeed, you are the rebellious folks. Statement 84 a. Again, when WE accepted pledge from you, the Israelites, - neither to shed the blood of one another, - nor to force them out of their houses and homelands. b. To this you agreed in the full knowledge of having understood what you were agreeing to. Ayah 83 Wa-ith akhathna meethaqa banee isra-eela la taaabudoona illa Allaha wabialwalidayni ihsanan wathee alqurba waalyatama waalmasakeeni waqooloo lilnnasi husnan waaqeemoo alssalata waatoo alzzakata thumma tawallaytum illa qaleelan minkum waantum muaaridoon Ayah 84 Wa-ith akhathna meethaqakum la tasfikoona dimaakum wala tukhrijoona anfusakum min diyarikum thumma aqrartum waantum tashhadoon English Paraphrasing by Badr Hashemi Page 33
6 Statement 85 a. In spite of this, b. you are slaying one another, c. you are driving by force a number of them from their homes and homelands, d. you are collaborating against them in animosity and injustice, e. if they come to you as captives, you ransom them - although the very act of forcing them to leave was unlawful. f. Do you then wish to follow only some part of the divine scripture and disobey the rest? g. What could be the reward of those who disobey ALLAH's Commandments? h. Surely, it is disgrace in this life and grievous punishment on the Day of Judgment! i. ALLAH is never unaware of your intentions and actions. Ayah 85 Thumma antum haola-i taqtuloona anfusakum watukhrijoona fareeqan minkum min diyarihim tathaharoona AAalayhim bialithmi waalaaudwani wa-in ya/tookum osara tufadoohum wahuwa muharramun AAalaykum ikhrajuhum afatu/minoona bibaaadi alkitabi watakfuroona bibaaadin fama jazao man yafaaalu thalika minkum illa khizyun fee alhayati alddunya wayawma alqiyamati yuraddoona ila ashaddi alaaathabi wama Allahu bighafilin AAamma taaamaloon Statement 86 a. Such are the people who trade-off political and economic gains of this worldly life with eternal blessings of the life after this life. b. Their suffering shall neither be alleviated, c. nor shall they ever be helped out of the catastrophic situation. Ayah 86 Ola-ika allatheena ishtarawoo alhayata alddunya bial-akhirati fala yukhaffafu AAanhumu alaaathabu wala hum yunsaroon English Paraphrasing by Badr Hashemi Page 34
7 Statement 87 a. WE bestowed upon Moses the Divine book of Torah. b. WE sent Messenger after Messenger to follow him. c. WE also bestowed upon Jesus, the son of Mary, the clear evidence of truth in form of the Gospel. d. WE strengthened him with divine inspiration. e. Yet, is it not so that every time a Messenger came to you, you scorned every one and anyone whose message did not suit your fancies? f. You glorified in arrogance - g. charging some Messengers with imposture and assassinating the other. Statement 88 a. The Israelites proclaim: b. 'Our hearts are well-protected.' c. In fact, ALLAH has cursed their hearts to closure for their refusal to shape their personal lives and social behavior in accordance with the Truth of ALLAH's Commandments in the Torah; d. They follow the Torah only in a matter of a few things. Statement 89 a. Now that there came the Book of Qura'n from ALLAH b. that confirms the truth of the founding principles already in their possession by way of the Torah, c. and in fact, they had long waited for its coming and had told so to the disbelievers. d. they renounce it, e. although they know for a fact that it is the whole Truth. f. Be ALLAH's condemnation and curse upon those men and women, young and old who renounce the Truth of Islam. Ayah 87 Walaqad atayna moosa alkitaba waqaffayna min baaadihi bialrrusuli waatayna AAeesa ibna maryama albayyinati waayyadnahu biroohi alqudusi afakullama jaakum rasoolun bima la tahwa anfusukumu istakbartum fafareeqan kaththabtum wafareeqan taqtuloon Ayah 88 Waqaloo quloobuna ghulfun bal laaaanahumu Allahu bikufrihim faqaleelan ma yu/minoon Ayah 89 Walamma jaahum kitabun min AAindi Allahi musaddiqun lima maaaahum wakanoo min qablu yastaftihoona AAala allatheena kafaroo falamma jaahum ma AAarafoo kafaroo bihi falaaanatu Allahi AAala alkafireen English Paraphrasing by Badr Hashemi Page 35
8 Statement 90 a. Evil is all that they trade-off their souls for. b. They deny ALLAH's own revelation, c. They grudge against the choice of those whom ALLAH chooses for HIS blessings from amongst the persons who faithfully stay obedient to His Commandments. d. They have thus earned ALLAH's most inexorable condemnation over and over again. e. Disgraceful punishment awaits all those men and women, young and old who thus grudge the Truth of Islam. Statement 91 a. Whenever someone tells them: b. 'Believe as true in what ALLAH has revealed as the Qura'n.' c. They reply: d. 'We believe only in what was revealed to us as Torah.' e. They continue disbelieving in whatever has since been revealed although it is the Truth. f. The Qura'n corroborates the fundamentals of their own original scriptures. g. Ask them: h. 'then why did you assassinate ALLAH's Prophets if you are true believers and upholders of justice and truth?' Statement 92 a. Moses came to you - the Israelites - with clear evidence of the Truth in the form of Torah. b. But you took to worshipping the metallic sculpture of the calf during his short absence of only forty days and forty nights. c. Thus, you committed a sinful transgression. Ayah 90 Bi/sama ishtaraw bihi anfusahum an yakfuroo bima anzala Allahu baghyan an yunazzila Allahu min fadlihi AAala man yashao min AAibadihi fabaoo bighadabin AAala ghadabin walilkafireena AAathabun muheen Ayah 91 Wa-itha qeela lahum aminoo bima anzala Allahu qaloo nu/minu bima onzila AAalayna wayakfuroona bima waraahu wahuwa alhaqqu musaddiqan lima maaaahum qul falima taqtuloona anbiyaa Allahi min qablu in kuntum mu/mineen Ayah 92 Walaqad jaakum moosa bialbayyinati thumma ittakhathtumu alaaijla min baaadihi waantum thalimoon English Paraphrasing by Badr Hashemi Page 36
9 Statement 93 a. When WE took your pledge and raised Mount Sinai up over you as a symbol, stressing: b. 'Take seriously what WE have revealed to you as Torah. c. Listen carefully to OUR Commandments.' d. They responded: e. 'We listen but we are not obliged to obey', i.e. their deeds and behavior implied that they disobeyed. f. The sculpture of calf had sunk deep into their hearts on account of their denial of the Truth. g. Tell them: h. 'Evil is that to which the evil in human soul and social environment prompts you in your faith if you really are the true believers.' Statement 94 a. Challenge them: b. 'if you reckon that you alone will abide by ALLAH, in the life after this life to the exclusion of all other human beings, then c. you should wish for the exit from this worldly life by way of death, d. if your claim is really genuine.' 94 Statement 95 a. But they shall never wish for the exit from this worldly life for fear of accountability of their deeds and behavior. b. ALLAH is aware of the transgressors. 10 Statement 96 a. Indeed, you would note that: b. they are covetous of the life in this world far more eagerly than other people, c. even more than those who are polytheists and are bent on ascribing divinity to other beings, real or myth, besides ALLAH. d. Each one of them would love to live on for a thousand years because they do not believe that this life leads to a future life. e. Yet even if their lives were actually prolonged, the extended life-span will not save them from the scourge in the life after this life. f. ALLAH is watchful of whatever they do. Statement 97 a. O Prophet Mohammad! b. Tell them: c. 'Whosoever is an enemy of Gabriel should know that d. it is Gabriel who has, by ALLAH's authority, conveyed the Qura'n upon your heart' - heart being the center of human perception. e. The Qura'n reaffirms the truth that had been revealed earlier to the former Prophets. f. It is a manifest guide and joyful news for the Muslim Faithful. Statement 98 a. Whosoever opposes or antagonizes ALLAH, HIS Angels, HIS Prophets as well as the message-bearers Gabriel and Michael, b. will surely find that ALLAH is the antagonist of all those who deny this truthful reality.
