1 16011 THE ISLAMIC STATE This extremely radical Islamic group is also known as ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) or ISIL (Islamic State of the Levant). has openly declared the establishment of a new Islamic caliphate. They currently control large portions of Iraq and Syria, and are seeking to expand their influence. The Islamic State was once loosely affiliated with Al Qaeda, but now have indpendent status. They are organized in a much more deliberate and concentrated format. They are well organized and well funded. Rather than being dependent on donations from wealthy supporters, as Al Qaeda was on Osama bin Laden and others, the Islamic State is funded by a vast criminal enterprise, including kidnapping, protection rackets, drug smuggling, bank robbery and weapons sales. The dream of an Islamic caliphate that will stretch around the globe is an ancient one, and it is alive and well today. The terrorist forces have taken territory from Iraq s borders with Syria and Turkey all the way to the city of Fallujah, just 40 miles from Baghdad. is Sunni Muslim, and its fighters have been active in warring against the bloody Assad regime in Syria. Now they are fighting against the Shia-led government of Iraq, which is being reinforced by Iranian special forces units. (over, please) Military situation as of December 9, 2015, in the Iraqi, Syrian, and Lebanese conflicts. - Controlled by the Iraqi government - Controlled by the Syrian government - Controlled by the Lebanese government - Controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant - Controlled by Iraqi Kurdistan forces - Controlled by Syrian Kurdistan forces - Controlled by Syrian opposition forces - Controlled by al-nusra Front - Controlled by Hezbollah NOTE: Iraq and Syria contain large desert areas with limited populations. These areas are mapped as under the control of forces holding roads and towns within them.

2 The battle for control of Iraq is a battle for control of the future Islamic caliphate, an ancient dream which both Sunnis and Shia believe is coming. The dream of the Muslim future (and a nightmare for the rest of us) is a world living under strict Islamic sharia law. Both sides support this goal they are just killing each other by the tens of thousands for the sake of determining who will actually control their common vision of the future. As with Hamas and Hezbollah, the hatred of Israel is able to at least temporarily overcome doctrinal disputes. Islamic State fighters were observed working with Hamas in Gaza during the last year s Operation Protective Edge. The Islamic State has designs on the entire region, including Israel. They view all of the Middle East (and in truth the entire world) as a rightful part of the caliphate that they are seeking to establish and they are willing to use any means to make their evil dream a reality. The Man Who Would Be Caliph Abu Bakr al-baghdadi Though little is known of his early life it is believed that Abu Bakr al-baghdadi, the head of the Islamic State, was born around 1971 in or near Samarra, Iraq. His (continued) official biography claims that he holds advanced degrees in Islamic studies from the Islamic University of Baghdad. After the US invasion toppled Saddam Hussein in 2003, al-baghdadi lead one of the early jihadist movements that was responsible for the death of many Americans and Iraqis alike. A few years ago, Abu Bakr al-baghdadi who had been captured by US counter insurgency forces, was released from the Iraqi detention facility Camp Bucca. He issued a chilling warning: I ll see you guys in New York. Al-Baghdadi knew that many of his captors were reservists from New York with the 306 th Military Police Battalion, a unit based on Long Island and comprised of numerous members of the NYPD and FDNY. The camp was named after FDNY Fire Marshal Ronald Bucca who was killed at the World Trade Center on September 11, Ironically, just two years later as his renewed terrorist operations began to make a major impact on the already unstable Iraqi government, the US issued a $10,000,000 reward for information leading to his capture or death. The so-called catch and release terrorist program is a liberal folly. Only those who do not really believe in evil could condone the release of such a man with so much blood on his hands. There is no question of the goals of the Islamic extremists like al-baghdai they are terrorists, not because of America or Israel, but because of their demonic beliefs. Osama bin Laden s global jihadist operation did not have a tenth the funds and support that al-baghdadi has. On June 10, 2014 his ISIS organization took Mosul, the Iraqi city of 1.8 million people. It was under the protection of about 30,000 US-trained Iraqi forces who were equipped

3 ISIS is making no secret of its aim to destroy the Jewish state. Just days ago a crowd of thousands rallied on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, calling for Palestine to become part of the new Islamic caliphate. with sophisticated US-made military equipment costing billions of American dollars. However, the city fell with little resistance in the face of the military power of al-baghdadi s ISIS. Al-Baghdadi and his radical followers have announced a self-proclaimed government and caliphate. It is quickly becoming the most powerful recruiting tool for Islamic jihadists worldwide. It is not a cell system such as bin Laden established, but an army that has proclaimed a state carved from Iraq and Syria. Its aim is to grab more of the Levant region which includes Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Cypress, and part of Southern Turkey. ISIS currently controls territory from Raqqa in northern Syria to the outskirts of Baghdad, an area roughly the size of Belgium. On June 29, 2014 the Islamic State declared the establishment of a caliphate, and proclaimed al-baghdadi the new ruler. He took the name Caliph Ibrahim. Radical Islam Revealed It has become popular in recent days for world leaders, including American ones to protest that the Islamic State is not related to Islam. While that may be a comforting notion, it is completely false. Throughout its history Islam has been a religion of conquest and expansion. What the Islamic State is doing is simply acting out the warlike directives of the Koran to spread the Islamic faith with the edge of the sword. I m sure you have seen the shocking news stories out of the Middle East... Americans beheaded by Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists...christians hauled out of their homes and crucified...little children being murdered in horrible ways...a growing wave of Islamic terror sweeping across Syria and Iraq and now right on Israel s doorstep. Not long ago, a crowd of thousands rallied on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, waving black Islamic State flags and calling for Palestine to become part of the new Islamic caliphate. ISIS has infiltrated fighters into Gaza and the Bible lands of Judea and Samaria (the so-called West Bank) and it is making no secret of its aim to destroy the Jewish state. (over, please) 3

4 There are more than 100 commands in the Koran calling Muslims to wage war against the unbelievers not spiritual war as is sometimes claimed, but bloody and violent physical war. Here are just a few examples: Koran (4:95) - Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) Hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward,- Koran (5:33) - The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement Koran (8:12) - I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them A Warning Ignored I saw this coming more than 30 years ago. Back then the political elites laughed at me. The notion of a renewed Islamic caliphate was so far outside their thinking that they couldn t conceive of it happening. But I had been spending time in Israel and the Middle East, talking to leaders on the ground and actually listening to what they said. It was more than 30 years ago, after a particularly eye-opening meeting with Isser Harel, the former Mossad (Israeli intelligence) director, that I wrote a book called Israel, America s Key to Survival. The cover of that book showed a Saudi sword slicing an American flag in half. I later produced a television special by the same name, warning of the coming threat of Islamic terrorism. Despite everything we did to sound the alarm and alert people to the danger, no one listened...until it was too late. The terrorist attack on 9/11 that killed nearly 3,000 people was not the beginning of anything, but rather the culmination of a long process of ignoring threats and warnings. The Jerusalem Prayer Team was birthed shortly after 9/11 to fight the battle in the spirit realm. In my #1 New York Times best-seller The Final Move Beyond Iraq, I wrote that the early steps of the establishment of a new caliphate had already taken place. I had been briefed by then Iraqi President Barzani and others as to what was taking place. As the US withdrew more and more troops and a vacuum was created, the Islamic State stepped in to fill the void. They are obeying the mandate of their demonic religion, and peace treaties and negotiations will not stop them from attempting to bring their dream to life. You see, foremost this is not a political or military or economic battle. It is primarily a spiritual battle. If it is to be won and it must be won if Israel, America and the rest of the world are too survive the radical Islamic onslaught it must be fought and won in the spirit realm. We wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers and spiritual wickedness in high places. (Ephesians 6:12) The Jerusalem Prayer Team is committed to gathering believers together to fight and win this most important spiritual battle of our generation.
